Date of Scene: 20 February 2024
Location: Dorms #1
Synopsis: Amy and Mio have a little catching up after a busy week.
Cast of Characters: Mio Morita, Amanda Faust

Mio Morita has posed:
Its a nice day out. School is out for the time being which lends to a chance for a certain burnt out precure to catch up on some much needed rest. Mio is crashed out on a her bed. That is okay except it is afternoon already. She has been out all day.

Pin is beside her and happens to be trying to wake her up. "Come on Mio-chan. You've been in bed all day. You gotta get up now! We have stuff to do!" She pokes her friend a little bit trying get her to stir.

Mio sighs, "I just need some rest Pin. I am really tired." Mio groans and rolls over. She fluffs her pillow and tries to go back to sleep.

Pin grabs Mio's blanket and pulls it off of her. "Come on! You don't have to go do a bunch of stuff but you do need to wake up. Besides what if there is a Terribad!"

Mio rolls her eyes and sits up. "There are other Precures who can handle it. You said it to me before." She sighs and stretches before looking through her clothes to for something to wear.

Amanda Faust has posed:
It is a nice day out. Amy should probably be out playing with other kids or something, instead of sitting on her computer reading manga. This one, about four awful losers who kind of deserve everything that happens to them, isn't *great* but... well, she started reading it, and even if it's turned into a bit of a tire fire, now she's curious to know how it ends.

Still, upon hearing Pin's voice she almost jumps out of her seat and hits ctrl+tab a little hard. Right, Even if Mio's asleep, there's another roommate!

As she calms down, she does glance at the clock in the corner of her other screen. It is past noon. "You'll mess up your sleep schedule. And you can't use melatonin to reset it without a prescription here, although maybe Nurse Meiou could get some, I dunno."

The shorter redhead stands up, stretches, and walks over to the bunk beds. "Why are you so tired, though? Are you sick?" A moment after asking that, realization flashes across her face. "Oh uh... is it just... I mean, you know, for you today too? Pin, she might need the rest... oh you're getting up."

She stands there awkwardly wringing her hands for a moment.

"...It feels like we haven't... talked... in awhile. You uh. You doing alright, aside from the whole having to balance saving the world with school and all?"

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio rubs her abdomen a little. Yup. That time isn't helping things. "I am just really exhausted. I've been really active lately. Both in the magical stuff and in my helping the homeless. Then my dad kinda did something really wrong and gave away my Taiyaki for the bake sale this weekend so I had to make more. He had the audacity to call me lazy. That I have plenty of free time and I should be able to do stuff like remake baked goods I had already made." She sighs.

Pin flies in front of her and shakes her head. "You know you aren't lazy. You know that you've been working really hard. You don't have to prove anything to him. You're a hero Mio! You have helped a lot of people."

Mio looks at Amy and smiles to her. "Yeah I haven't been around much. Blue-sama had me go to the USA to help a Pretty Cure team there. Plus one of our local generals went there to cause trouble. Scorn." She sighs mentioning that name. "Then with doing my feeding the homeless and doing baked sales. I just have been really exhausted you know?" She smiles. "I'm trying to balance it. Plus I'm more than half my way to collecting all of the precards!" She smiles over that. "I'm getting close to my dreams."

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy catches the look when she mentions that. The syncing up thing really happens, huh? But then she gasps as she hears Mio was accused of Laziness, and rushes to her side to hug her. "No one is lazy. Laziness isn't real, it's just an accusation used to hurt and shame people. You shouldn't... you shouldn't have to deal with that accusation from... authority figures with an emotional hold over you. Especially loved ones."

She nods at the mention of a USA trip, she heard a little bit about that. "I'm sorry I missed it and couldn't help you." Particularly to fight Scorn, who Amy feels is perhaps the closest she has to a nemesis.

"You do so much. You don't have to do it every day..." She pats her roommate on the back, then lets go of the hug and steps back.

Amy mirrors Mio's smile, but then cocks her head to one side, curious. "So what happens when you get all of the precards? What... dream is that...?"

Mio Morita has posed:
"Yep, Syncing up happens. Not the most fun part about being a girl." She laughs a little laugh before she sighs and nods, "I know I'm not lazy. I just am frustrated you know. I love my dad but I lost my trust in him after that. He gave the taiyaki that I made for the bake sale to my cousins! He could have offered to make taiyaki with my cousins. He could have asked me to do it. Or even just asked if he could give some to them. But no he just did it then went off on me when I got upset. It kinda stinks you know? Now I've gotta find a place to store the baked goods where he can't just give them out willy nilly." She sighs and shakes her head

"The trip to the USA was really cool. I think I put on some weight over there. The food is crazy and they really eat a lot more than they do over here." She smiles.

Then she is hugged. She hugs back and nods, "I know its just so hard to not do anything. I mean even now I wanna go out on patrol and fight the phantom empire, Even though I need some rest.

As the hug breaks and the question is asked she begins, "Its kind of like a reward system for Blue-sama's Precures. When we take down creatures of darkness, We get these cards. Some do special things like make you a nurse or a detective, or even a hiker. They can be mixed and matched to make clothing sets too. But the big thing is when all the cards are collected. The person who collects them gets to make one wish. That wish can be anything. I kinda have a wish in mind that I really want to make. Thats why I've been working so hard for it.

Amanda Faust has posed:
"Heh, yeah..." Amu chuckles awkwardly and nods. She wouldn't wanna change back, though...

At the elaboration of parental woe, Amy nods. "I usedta hear about friends' parents doing stuff like that all the time.... guess it's not just boomers, people are like that in every generation, huh..."

Right, a wish. She'd heard some of the cures can earn that, but it kind of faded in her mind, compared to everyone who already got their wishes, for good and ill...

Still, she can't help looking kind of serious, knowing that wishes have doomed so many to a dark fate. Even the grief seed she's holding in reserve now was once someone who made a wish...

"What are you going to wish for? Um, if it's okay for me to ask. I understand if it's private. ...Is there a catch? Or does that you had to work for it first mean no strings attached?" Just how trustworthy is Blue, though...?

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio nods "Yeah I guess there are people who are jerks out there in every generation." She frowns. "I hate that my dad even went down that path." She frowns and thinks a little. "Perhaps the school will let me store stuff in the kitchen. But that takes up space for the students here." She winces and makes a little face, "I don't want to stop you know?"

Then the topic of the wishes comes up. She doesn't know about the wishes of the Puellas and the actual costs of them. All she knows is that she has a wish and she wants it more than anything. "No its okay. You can ask. I don't mind." She takes a deep breath. "You won't pick on me will you?" She asks nervously. "I want to be a Princess." She hangs her head for a long moment. Her face reddens as she thinks about it. "Its silly I know. I want to make a difference in the world. Its one thing to be able to help with bake sales and feeding the hungry. Its another to be able to help people on a grander scale. I want to make a difference in the world and inspire hope in everyone I meet. I just think I could do that if I were a princess you know?"

Amanda Faust has posed:
"People can change, but... you can't make them." Amy says, about her roommate's dad. And shrugs. "Do people here use the kitchen that much? How much space does the taiyaki take?"

A... princess? Amy quirks an eyebrow, awaiting elaboration. She assumes it is deeper than the stereotypical little girl wish, and it is.

But she sighs and slumps a little. "How is that even going to work? No I mean, I don't think it's impossible, it's a wish... I just wonder how much else changes. Does your father become a king? Does a new country appear, or are things rewritten so that you replace the royalty of an existing country? Or do you suddenly turn out to be the forgotten, true heir to another country, resulting in a civil war to press your claim on the throne? With supporters of the old regime trying to take you down even if you win?"

Amy sits on her bed, roughly. Whumpf. "And I hate to tell you, but. Can a single ruler really do that much, for the world? Even if the President of the United States decided to help everyone... that won't stop the leaders of China and Russia, even in the States he'd be hamstrung by corrupt lawmakers and greedy corporations."

Amy looks down at the floor, unable to meet Mio's gaze. "And if you have the absolute authority to truly help people in your own country, how does it function without you watching it 24/7? Heck, if you have the resources to help people, then others will be out to embezzle them for themselves."

She takes a breath. "...I'm sorry. Maybe it won't be like that. Maybe Blue grants the spirit of the wish, and will make sure you have a way to help people that doesn't go awry. I'm just an old ma-- an old woman who's read too many stories. And of course wishes go bad in stories. That's more interesting than 'and the heroine wished to save everyone and they all lived happily ever after the end.'"

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio winces. She hadn't thought that deeply about it. She thought about helping others. Her heart was in the right place but hearing how her wish just couldn't really work out... That hurt. Tears fill her eyes as she continues to think on the reasoning why it couldn't happen. "You're right..." She states as she continues considering the whole thing. "Its not like I can just magically become a princess. You have to be born into something like that. Or have to be married into it." She sighs. What was she even fighting for then? To help bring hope to the world? When even her dad tried to steal that hope from others? What was she supposed to do?

Mio sighs and shakes her head. "Maybe I can come up with a better wish. I just wanted to make the world better. Thats all I've ever wanted." She reaches out and takes hold of pin. She holds the fairy tight as she thinks over it.

Pin on the other hand isn't so ready to let Mio give up on her wish. "Blue-Sama didn't say there was a limit to the wish. Only that there would be a single wish. You can't give up on your wish Mio-chan. You can still make a difference in the world. You make a difference in the world every day. You can do it on a grander scale too! I believe in you!"

Mio sighs and nods. She is still hurt but she is trying to hide it. What was she supposed to do? She couldn't depose a royal just to be one herself or something crazy like that. Maybe Blue-sama could help her make sense of everything.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy winces. She made her friend cry. "I-it's... magically becoming a princess isn't necessarily the problem. It's a wish, it happens by definition, one way or another. But even if you were born into it, you'd still have the other problems. I'm sorry. It's really unfair that we've passed such a messed-up world onto your generation... well, the same was done to us, but... maybe we could've made it better, if we'd tried harder." She shakes her head, and tries to hug Mio.

"You have a god on your side. If he doesn't lie to you, like Kyubey... maybe you can just ask him, about how the wish would work, and how to get what you want?"

She squeezes. "Don't listen to the broken old adult. I'm a fake, remember? The, the... this... your pure hope and idealism that the world can be different... has been crushed out of me." Perhaps not completely, but... she's frantically discounting herself to try and make Mio take her previous words less heavily. "I'm just here to fight alongside you girls and help you survive to make your dreams come true, as long as I can. I already had my shot, but you..."

Amanda looks into Mio's eyes, her own eyes watering. "You can still make it. Your life isn't yet written. Don't give up. Th-think about it in more detail than 'I'll make a wish that will fix everything', have a plan for after... but don't go up. You can do a lot of good."

"We're magical girls, right? Making things better and fighting for light and hope and love and all that... that's what we do, right?"

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio hugs Amy tight. She doesn't say anything right now. There are simply no words as she considers everything. She wipes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Slowly she begins to speak. "I am a simple girl with a simple wish. To bring hope to this world. The best way I can do that is by being in a position where I can inspire hope."

Pin flies around the two girls. "You are going to change the world for the better. Maybe in a bigger way than you can imagine." She smiles and floats around Amy. "And you... You gotta let got of who you were. You made a wish and your wish was granted. You are who you are now. What are you going to do with what you've been given. Surely life isn't all rockets flying right and lamenting your past, right?"

Mio takes a breath and smiles. "Who knows? Maybe it will just change my perspective on the world?" She asks curiously. "If I see the world different maybe Making a difference will be easier?" She smiles as she grasps onto hope like it were an invisible thread.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Hugs are nice. "Then do that. Wish to inspire hope. Maybe talk to Blue about how it could work." She considers this. "Maybe both. Who knows? Maybe if you wish to be a princess that inspires hope... maybe a whole new country will appear that does things better, showing the people of the rest of the world that it can be done."

She takes a breath at Pin's words. "I'm still the same person inside. There isn't some... past me that was someone else. Now I'm trapped in a story. My favorite kind of story, but... everything is a reminder, that I'm not... normal. I'm not a normal little girl, and I don't see things like one."

"...But I have Hannah, and I have friends." She smiles. "And yes, I get to save lives as a magical girl."

She lets go, and steps back. She looks down and briefly holds a hand over her lower stomach, "Being a girl is hard..." and then back at Mio, smiling. "...but fun. Sometimes I wanna shout," She holds her arms up, "'I'm a girl!' from the roof, but people would think I'm weirder than they already do." She drops her arms back to her side. "I have no idea what I'm doing, or how to do it, but every little bit is a treasured experience. Stolen from uncaring reality by a wish. So even... if I can't just be normal... I'm grateful. For every bit of this life that I get."

"...We'll make better futures for ourselves. Somehow. We'll keep making the rest of our lives better. Right?"

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio nods slowly. "I am going to make my wish. I am going to be a Princess. I don't know how it will work but Its going to happen. I'm going to use my wish to make things better for others. I want to bring hope to the hopeless! Thats my goal as a Pretty Cure and as a normal every day person."

"Thats my Mio-chan!" Pin cheers as she flies down into her lap. She looks at Amy and smiles, "I wish I could help you forget about who you were so you can live as who you are. You don't need to worry so much about what was. Now you are a girl. You have friends. You're a magical girl who can change the world! That makes you awesome in my book." Pin tries to encourage.

Mio stands up. "I should head out. I need to go do a patrol or something. I mean I am awake now and I could really go for some food. What do you think about some pizza? I can pick some up while I am out and bring it back to the dorm?" She offers as she considers something to tame her growling stomach and maybe dull some cramps. "Or maybe some chocolate!"

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy smiles as Mio reaffirms her goal. "You'll be the Princess of Hope."

Pin's offer of forgetting gets a repulsed wince from Amy, though. "Nope. Identity death is lame, I hate those stories and I sure don't wanna live that. My experiences and memories make me who I am. Someone who didn't remember them... maybe she'd be more normal, maybe she'd be more happy, but she wouldn't be me."

She stretches and holds her hands behind her head. "Besides, it's only 'cuz I didn't get to be this for so long, that I know how special it is."

She holds a hand out towards Mio to indicate her. "If she became a princess, but then forgot any other life she had before, would she be as motivated to help, from what she's seen in her life?"

Food? Amy smiles, "Oh man, pizza sounds great." Chocolate. She looks unsure. "Does that really help? I didn't wanna be some kinda stereotype, but if you think it does..." She taps her chin. "Maybe I can approach it scientifically. Write down my feelings before and after chocolate..."

Mio Morita has posed:
Mio nods, "It really help." She beams happily at the idea of Pizza and Chocolate. "I will get some while I am out. How does that sound?"

Pin looks at Amy. She doesn't quite get it but she does understand. "Okay I won't bring it up again. I just thought... I mean I thought it would be easier on you you know?"

Then she gets it thoroughly. "If Mio didn't have her hope she wouldn't be Mio at all! She would just be some girl. SHe probably wouldn't even be a Pretty Cure!" Pin comments worried about the idea of Mio losing who she is. "I don't think god would do that to Mio though."

Mio sighs, "Okay I will pick up the food. I'll catch you later Amy-chan." She smiles a little and quickly makes her way to the door. "Have fun with your Manga!" Mio comments as she steps out.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Pin doesn't get it... and then says without her memories, Mio wouldn't be Mio! "Exactly!" Amy nods. "What? No, I'm coming with... I should probably get outside for a bit, too." She pulls on some warmer clothes and her shoes and follows Mio out.
