Rooftop Catting
Date of Scene: 24 March 2024
Location: Nounamu Sweets
Synopsis: Ikuto surprises Chiyo while she's fixing something ontop of the shop roof. In spite of being attacked with a broom, Ikuto asks Chiyo to prom.
Cast of Characters: Chiyo Sakai, Ikuto Tsukiyomi

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
"I'll get it, Ojiisan. It'll only take me a minute."

The remark is made down an access stairway leading up to the rooftop of Nounamu Sweets where Chiyo currently stands with a broom in hand. The purpose? To walk to the edge of the roof where she carefully leans down to swing the bristles of the broom over the sign on the side of the building. It was one of those old flag-type signs that occasionally flipped around the wrong way with the wind. A few swipes of the broom later leaves it properly in place again.

She could just rush back downstairs. Instead she stands to pause on the rooftop watching the lights of the city start to flicker on with the fading light. She stands while clutching the broom in hand to lean against it slightly. It was a sight she'd seen plenty of times since becoming a magical girl but it was still nice to just take a moment to appreciate the view while relaxing instead of fighting.

Ikuto Tsukiyomi has posed:
Ikuto's business out at the old sweets shop wasn't the usual for him. He wasn't looking for a fight, or searching for something important for once. Instead he was here for a more mundane, but no less stressful task: he was going to ask a girl on a date.

"Oh, there she is." He saw her standing up on the roof, looking out on the city. As usual, the catboy chose the solution to his dilemna that suited him rather than the one that made the most sense. One moment he was on the ground looking up, and the next Ikuto was in the air and landing on the roof mere feet from the girl he was here to see, the soft scrape of his shoes on the rooftop the only sound made by his sudden leap.

"You're Chiyo, right? I'm Ikuto. I think you've met my sister, Utau. I heard she ruined your date recently." He doesn't know how to go about this. He's never done this before! He's talking, and trying to play it cool but he's out of his element here. Yoru chooses that moment to helpfully float past and say "Be cool, Ikuto! You've got this!"

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
Chiyo Sakai tenses when someone joins her on the rooftop only to snap her head around to face the dark haired boy with a look of... Uncertainty? Surprise? Not the first time she's met on the rooftops. She was just not in her usual attire when that happened.

Since the fight with Sunbreaker here she'd grown a bit on edge. Enough so that when she's surprised while not henshined, ontop of her roof, by someone she doesn't know... He doesn't get further than talking about the sister and ruined date than the broom swings up between them to swat at him with the bristly business end.

"Don't sneak up on me!" Is the first thing that comes out of her mouth, followed by a quick, "Did Utau send you!? I already broke up with him!"

Red faced, embarassed and surprised, she's none the less ready to use that broom further if she has to. It's held like a staff in hand as her gaze momentarily flickers to the little cat chara Yoru. "..."

Ikuto Tsukiyomi has posed:
He really should have expected that response. What he definitely didn't expect is how strong this girl is, or for a single swing of a broom to drop him to the floor. "Ow! No, no Utau didn't say anything to me! I only heard about what she did because some other girls were gossiping about it and I was eavesdropping! I just- Hey, wait. You can see Yoru. Well that explains the strength. But...no, I'm not here on my sister's behalf."

Ikuto stood up, dusting himself off as Yoru giggled. "You, um. Don't have a date for the prom now, right?"

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
Chiyo Sakai lets out a breath sharply when he confirms he wasn't here due to Utau. Plus she wasn't the sort that would *keep* hitting on someone that was asking her to stop. At least not without listening first.

The broom is lowered with a faint nod. "Of course I can see him. I saw hers, too, but not till the end." The fact that she'd grabbed Il goes unsaid. It deserved it.

Her hand lifts to rub fingers over the bridge of her nose a single time, then falls away again. "Sorry. I don't do well getting snuck up on since Sunbreaker came here last time." A glance is cast over the edge of the roof to squint down into the garden. "I think there's still a dusk snake hiding down there, too." Every now and then she caught a glimpse.

The question of the date thing earns a glance back toward him. "I didn't have a date to begin with. That was only our second date, we never got far enough to decide to go to it. I'm working with the food commitee anyway. ... Why?"

Ikuto Tsukiyomi has posed:
Ikuto nods. "Sunbreaker...guess she's out making everyone's life a bit more difficult. Be careful, that fire of hers is no joke...she nearly got me about a week ago with one of those sun things she makes. Just glad my friend Hinote was there to punch her in the face before I got set on fire."

He looks a bit awkward as he continues. "You would have gone with him if Utau hadn't...been Utau, right?" Yoru watches with anticipation. He wishes he had popcorn, because now is when he'd be loudly munching on it. "You shouldn't have to miss out on the chance because of my sister, and I've never been to one of these things myself, so..."

Was that a hint of redness on his face? The mask of stoicism breaks for just a moment. Yoru is grinning now as he watches from the side. "Would you go with me?"

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
Chiyo Sakai mms in quiet agreement about the mention of Sunbreaker. "We have history. I can handle her fire." Usually. In this case she'd won to begin with, but that wasn't something she plans to share given she'd almost lost her cool completely. It was at least a way of telling which side he was on, in a way. Mostly. Sunbreaker did tick off a lot of people all around.

"... I might have. Probably. Yeah." Chiyo doesn't deny that at all while turning a bit red-faced herself at the topic. It had been a tough decision not to continue to be involved in a potential disaster caught between Kukai and Utau. Going to the dance or not going was the least of her worries at the moment.

Shifting her weight back to her heels she regards Ikuto a long moment in surprise at the question. "I, um." He hadn't been himself though. And was apologizing for Utau in a way. "... I guess we could. If you want. I mean."

No, this couldn't possibly be romantic. Right? Right.

"I'm guessing you want to keep an eye on her too, huh?" She asks with a lopsided smile. "Sure, why not."

Ikuto Tsukiyomi has posed:
"Y-yeah! Yeah, I want to keep an eye on her. She's been causing trouble as of late, and I can't just ignore that." Why was he getting flustered now? Why were -both- of them getting flustered?

"It's not just that though! I'm not going to just take you and then ditch you at the front door or something. I'll make sure you have a good time."

Yoru smirks and says "He thinks you're cute but he's embarrassed to say it!" Ikuto says nothing, simply reaching over and flicking Yoru across the rooftop.

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
"Oh." Well, she'd never been asked to a dance before one way or another! Even if it was by the brother of someone who had done their best to make herself an enemy, it was a little surprising. The rooftop was an odd place to ask as well. Maybe not for mahou, though.

Chiyo ducks her head a moment at Yoru's little info dump. "Ah, thanks then. I... yeah. We can have fun too. I'll try not to wear something awful."

A pause comes before she explains, "My mother is a bit out of touch and buys me really awful dresses. I'll get my cousin's help though." She was *not* wearing that pink chiffon nightmare again.

"Ah, I do have to work for a bit of it though. I'm helping provide some of the desserts. Um. You could help too if you want? No pressure. Just instead of waiting around for me."

Ikuto Tsukiyomi has posed:
"Sure. I don't mind helping out. I can move a lot of stuff pretty quickly. If it makes things easier for you I'd be glad to help out. Heh...I'll make sure to wear something that isn't embarrassing." Little did the poor girl know that the boy she'd accepted an invitation to the dance with was considering what sort of suits looked "cool", rather than what normal people would wear to a formal event.

Ikuto smiled. Maybe for the first time that since he saw a certain girl with a fiery disposition get socked in the face, as it didn't look like it came easily to him. He'd done it, though! He'd asked someone out on a date and gotten a positive response. He was...happy. That was a strange thought. Ikuto pondered for a moment, lost in his own thoughts. "Huh. Maybe I really have been doing it wrong all this time."

Yoru rolled his eyes. "Very surprising. Shouldn't we go for now, Ikuto? Your date probably has stuff to do and you just jumped on the roof like a crazy person, nya."

Chiyo Sakai has posed:
Chiyo Sakai chuckles softly when Yoru points that out to Ikuto. The broom she'd gotten him with his taken just in one hand this time rather than threatening him with it. That part was past and gone. "I should get back down. Ojiisan is probably worried about what's taking me so long. He may not say it," she adds looking toward the stairs with a fond smile of her own. "But he worries a lot."

Glancing back to Ikuto she flashes a grin. "I guess I'll see you then. Um. Stop by the shop sometime normally if you want," she offers a bit awkwardly. "I'll see you later."
