I Punched a Boy
Date of Scene: 23 October 2023
Location: Administrative Office
Synopsis: And Norie didn't like it, but got sent to the guidance counselor anyways because she actually energy drained him actually. Kyouka and Norie have a chat about what to do about it in the future.
Cast of Characters: Norie Okana, Kyouka Inai

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana was looking down at her broken phone in class. It barely worked well enough, parts of the screen we're not touch zones and it made typing on it difficult, if not impossible. She got frustrated. Someone tried to help. She threw a tiny fit, but more important she accidently grabbed the person when he tried to grab her phone from her to 'take a look at it' and this ended in the usual dark energy crackle and drain but to the casual, mundane observer she decked the guy.

So. Now she's sitting in the counselor's office. Waiting her turn and looking down at her dumb hands and muttering under her breath as she sighed. Broken phone in her pocket, dressed in her school uniform.

The other student was most likely in the infirmary being seen to by the school nurses. Seeing as how he went unconscious, due to the 'punch'.

So here she is, waiting in the office. Also reeking of dark energy. She's made of the stuff, and it's hard to hide it from someone with such advanced senses like Kyouka. This may be difficult.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka normally doesn't get students sent to her for fighting or that sort of thing- she's here for a very specific purpose, that being dealing with training and educating magical students. But the thing about RHA is that there are Ways of knowing when an incident is magical in nature rather than simply disciplinary. And those cases tend to get sent her way, even though none of the other counselors seem to know who is arranging such things. Even Kyouka only has a vague idea. But here we are.

Norie will get called into her office eventually, and Kyouka will be found sitting behind her desk, leaning back with her elbows resting on it, observing the girl as she enters. There is nothing threatening about her, even if she can sense the dark energy radiating from the girl, but neither does she seem friendly and welcoming. Neutral, and observant, are probably the best ways to describe her.

"Have a seat, Okana-san." She says as Norie enters, gesturing to the chairs on the other side of her desk. "It seems like we need to have a chat."

Norie Okana has posed:
Oh this is magical. Like heck. It'd be easy for anyone to figure it out.

This is the first time she's seen Inai-sensei and the name is familiar because she's heard it from Naru. She doesn't know what to expect. She's looking down the whole time and trying to not make eye contact. She really doesn't want to. She's ashamed. She's unsure. And now she has to have a talk with a counselor about why what she did was wrong even though she was just trying to keep her phone.

"Yeah...s..sorry..." she says as she swallows. "It...it won't happen again." she says. Either it's a lie, or she's unsure it won't happen again. But she isn't very convincing and isn't making eye contact at all.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka has likewise never laid eyes on Norie before- though she's seen La Crima at least twice. That pesky Veil prevents her from realizing that this is the same girl, though the dark energy scent is surely similar. But then again, you can't tell one Dark Energy user from another just by their smell.. her nose for magic is good but it isn't that good.

She considers the girl as she apologizes and says it won't happen again. "I do believe that you're sorry," She says after a moment. "Because you certainly look it. And I don't think you seem like the type to cause that kind of trouble in class just for fun. But I also can't just take your word for it, that you won't endanger other students again, whether you mean to or not."

"Can you tell me what happened? So I can understand better."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana is still not making eye contact with Kyouka. She doesn't want to. She's looking in her general direction, at least. Which is a step up from looking at the floor or the ceiling. She mutters softly under her breath, something too low to be intelligible. She's talking to herself. Another odd behavior of hers, but she tries to articulate.

"H--he tried to.... grab my. Broken phone. So.. I punched him..." she lies. "...didn't...want him touching it. Didn't mean to. Send him to the nurse."

Usually, being punched in the face by a small girl doesn't send boys into unconsciousness like that. It might end in a bloody nose. Maybe but.

She's lying in a mundane way. 'She hit someone. Sorry'. It's like every other story she's told the other counselors.

It's the only one they usually believe.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka doesn't seem to require eye contact, although she is gazing steadily at Norie, as if studying her. Perhaps trying to align what she sees in front of her with what her magical senses tell her, although that is usually an exercise in futility no matter who the subject of her attention is. Magic just doesn't play nice with normal senses.

She listens to this version of the story, and raises her brows above her eyes in a look of disbelief. "I don't think that's really true, Okana-san." She says, after a moment. "You wouldn't be in my office if that's all that it was. You see, students only get sent to see me if there was... something a bit more than physical violence involved."

"I've been told that it seems like this boy was drained of his energy." Because yes, the nurse is actually magical too, didn't you know? That's neither here nor there, though. She doesn't say it was the nurse specifically who told her. "We really can't have things like that going on in class. As much as punching would also be disallowed."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana is listening. She still isn't making eye contact. She wants to be out of here. She wants to be done with this. She wants her slap to her record, again, she wants to deal with the 'we're very disappointed in you' conversation she'll have with her parents, again. She just wants it all to be over so she can go commiserate in her dorm room.

Then there's the explanation and she shrinks harder. She has the candor of someone who got their arm stuck in the cookie jar. How...!?

"..."

"...s..sorry." she says.

"I didn't...punch him I just...."

"It happens when...when I'm touched...when I touch... he grabbed my phone.. I... grabbed his arm back...I didn't...think...I'm sorry." she says. Still not making eye contact. But that's probably not so important right now.

"I just didn't want him taking my phone..." she says quietly.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
"Well, I appreciate that you didn't want him taking your phone. And I think that's perfectly natural." Kyouka says, patiently, though she's still sitting behind her desk with her arms resting on it as if watching a creature she is not sure whether is dangerous or not.

"But if this sort of thing happens when you touch people... maybe you should consider other ways of resolving such a conflict." She glances at Norie's hands. "Or maybe you should consider wearing gloves, or otherwise protecting yourself from unintended contact. I know it's against the school's dress code, but I'm sure we could secure permission if I put in a word with the appropriate people."

She sighs a little. "Okana-san, I appreciate that you didn't mean for this to happen, and that you were just protecting yourself. But now I have to figure out something to do about it. Because I can't just say, 'well, she said sorry' and send you back to class. But I don't want to punish you either, for something like this."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana just mutters. "Just. Say I punched him. I'm used to this. I punched him. In the face. That's what everyone saw anyways. Probably." she says quietly. She looks down at her hands and balls them up into themselves, just squeezing her dumb hands.

"My dormmate is. Making me gloves. I am. Working on it." she says quietly.

Her tone is becoming more neutral. Of course, Naru would know the weird counselor who knows about stuff. She relaxes a little.

"I---. hard to. maintain. composure. Phone was already broken. Upset about that. Grabbed... him didn't. Think. Sorry." she says quietly.

"Sorry." she says quietly. "Am... energy. vampire."

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka nods her head after a moment, hearing what the girl says about her roomate making her gloves. "Well, that's good. That's a step in the right direction. And saying that you just punched him might be good enough for the mundanes, for the average person at this school, but it's not good enough for those of us who actually have a reason to know, and to care. That's why this school exists in the first place... or so I've been led to believe."

"I understand where you're coming from." She doesn't have any judgement in her voice, just neutral understanding and patience. "But I need to ask you to think a little harder next time, if you can. And get those gloves as soon as possible. If stuff like this keeps happening it's possible I might be required to take some sort of action, and I don't want to do that." She sounds like she means it, at least.

"For now I think saying sorry, and getting those gloves, is a step in the right direction. I can be satisfied with that for now."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana shifts a bit in place. "O..okay." she says quietly. "It's...hard to not. Act. All the time. Always on edge." she says. "...emotions are. All out of whack. Don't have. The good ones. Difficult." she says. Stiltedly.

"I do. My best." she says, still not looking or making eye contact. "But. Hard."

"Sorry. You probably don't care. It's okay. Can we be done here? I don't... want to. Take up. Anymore of your time. I.. just."

"Look... you know. My secret now. I don't know. What else I can tell you anyways." she says quietly.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
"I understand." Kyouka says, and it sounds like she means it. "And if I can help you I will try to find a way to do that but.. for the moment, just remember what I said." She tilts her head to the side, studying the girl sitting across from her.

"We can be done for now." She says, after a moment. "I think you're telling me the truth when you say that you are trying your hardest. I want to see those gloves on you pretty soon, okay? And I'll think about other ways I might be able to help you. Until then, just try to stay out of trouble."

She offers a small smile. "You're not in trouble today. But I also don't want you to get in trouble later, either." She nods her head. "You can go now. Hopefully the next time we chat I'll have something I can offer you to help you out."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana gently shifts in place again. She doesn't know where to look right now. So she's looking down. She stands up. "Okay." she says softly as she closes her eyes. "I work on. Gloves. I'll ask. My dormmate about them. I'll. Figure out something..." she says quietly.

She's smiled at. She blinks a little and looks at you for probably the first time the whole meeting. "Alright." she says quietly. "S..sorry. Again. I'll. Figure. Out. Something..."

"Uh...b..bye then." she sputters as she'll leave. Awkwardly as she came in. She's gotten good at walking around with her head down.
