Sorry About the Time I Tried to Kill your Girlfriend.
Date of Scene: 17 December 2023
Location: Radiant Heart Academy
Synopsis: Norie and Amy have a discussion on the roof about killing girlfriends, existence and a potential maybe solution to things.
Cast of Characters: Norie Okana, Amanda Faust

Norie Okana has posed:
People knew Norie Okana was La Crima now.

So she didn't bother transforming when she hung out on the roof of her dorm today, just sitting there and watching students return to their dorms in the later evening, watching the twinkling lights of the city beyond and staring at Obsidian Tower, Clover Tower and other such landmarks as she whispered little unintelligible words to herself in the evening.

She liked hanging out on the roof. It was mostly private- and mostly pretty. They for some reason cleaned the roofs of the dorms. Probably, secretly due to all the magical girl traffic , but there was no way to prove that.

For now, Norie Okana sighed and looked down at her hand as dark mist played along her fingertips, looking to the city beyond.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Sometimes, Amy remembers to look up.

In the field it's good to check for allies around, and the rooftops are often where they are. So the thought randomly crosses her mind, and though she's not on patrol, she glances up. And there's a familiar figure... but not an ally.

You could transform and snipe her.

It probably wouldn't even kill her and then things would be even worse.

But that's not your real objection.

That's not what a magical girl should be about.

How'd that work out for La Pucelle?

That's a story. ...Yeah, I know it seems like stories are coming real, but... Frankly, there are countless times people have been betrayed or died for their ideals across history.

And if you die for your ideals?

Things are different now. I've lived well for a few months, more than a lot of people will ever get.

And if Hannah dies for your ideals?

...There has to be another way.

Norie's probably seen her, since she stopped and stared into space in Norie's direction for such a long moment. But if Norie's still there when Amy Faust, also not transformed, steps out onto the roof, the latter says, "Hey. ...Am I a fool, for always trying to talk?"

Norie Okana has posed:
For what it's worth, no that wouldn't kill her, and yes. It'd make things worse. In that order. Luckily, it doesn't come to that, instead, she blinks down to Amy, looking through her fingers as she looks down and then Amy makes her way up here. And asks a question. Norie sighs a little, and wilts a little. "No. Of course not, Amy-chan." she says softly. She sighs a little.

"Don't worry about me going after Hannah in the meantime. The TSAB gremlin gave me paperwork. Count Otto agreed to fill it out. I can't try to ... assassinate... her while it's processing or whatever." she says. She sighs and looks back out over the city.

"Why do you think you're a fool for talking?" she asks quietly. "Something on your mind?"

"Besides the whole. Hannah thing. If you want to fight about it."

"I will. I won't even. Fight back. If you want."

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy quirks an eyebrow but looks hopeful as Norie says she's stalling Otto.

Norie won't even fight back. "That's worse. What kind of Hero would do that?"

One who does what needs to be done.

"I wanted to help you. ...I still want to, if I can without Hannah dying. Please don't make me choose between helping someone in need, and my girlfriend living."

She takes a breath and leans back against the door. "Not that I know how to fix whatever's happened to you, and make you whole..." she winces as soon as the words are out of her mouth. "No, that's unfair to you. Saying it like that. 'fix', and 'whole', as if you're less than a person. Bad wording. I'm sorry."

She straightens up, then leans forward and gesticulates. "How could you agree to kill someone?! ...No, I guess that curse is really doing a number on you. But there's gotta be a way to coexist. Can't we find it? Otto's gonna finish that paperwork eventually."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana sighs a little. "The paperwork still needs to be processed and delivered and I'm positive that Count Otto is going to come out on top. What then?" she asks quietly. "I know that girl, you know that girl. She isn't just going to roll over when that's the case." she says quietly.

She looks back out over the city. "I don't know." she says quietly, suddenly to the question of how she could agree to kill someone. "For helping me? I know what might help me. But every damn thing has a price. Or is so powerful I can't even touch it. Pure Hearts... Draining someone completely... The Silver Dumb Crystal which I was fricken right about being someone's heart, apparently." she says angrily. "Never mind that it's mere presence burns me."

"But you we're there." she says softly. "I hated that dumb project from the beginning. I've been feeding information to Naru about it for months. It felt good to finally stab that sucker in the back." she says quietly.

"Which is bad, because I shouldn't feel good at all."

Amanda Faust has posed:
"...So you're worried that if you start to feel good from things like vengeance, you'll start seeking those things out more, and it's gonna dominate your life, hurting people. If I didn't know better I'd think whatever Mahou Shoujo story I'm in was doing a Very Special Episode... but this isn't some awkward, heavy-handed metaphor." She sighs and leans back against the door. "You're at least able to tell it'd be bad to go that way."

She slides down to a sitting position, and holds a hand up to her face, then runs it through her hair. "Jeeze. You're what, 13, 15, and having to deal with this? And Sailor Moon is about the same age and has to deal with..." she gestures in the direction of the shrine, "whatever the FU--err, whatever is going on with all that. And I have to watch as the stress of being a Puella Magi eats Sharpsong alive and I don't know how to help her, and oh right, I finally find someone who... no, someone found me who lights up my world, and I have to worry about assassinations and her evil space uncle."

Amy takes a breath and lets it out, staring at the edge of the roof, then lifts her gaze to Norie again. "What makes you so sure he's gonna win in all this?"

Besides that I spent over a third of my soul gem and couldn't stop him.

    "And what can help you?"

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana frowns. "I already know it's bad when I start feeling 'good' about something." she says. "Like. Really good. I shouldn't...laugh or smile. When I do. That's bad. Something bad is happening and I like it." she says. She narrows her eyes a little as she eyes Amy. "But I did what had to be done to protect the Dusk Zone from enduring any more damage from that dumb Midnight Jokio Project." she snorts. "I got rosed in the back for it. It hurt a lot." she says.

"The Shrine? No doubt the final shrine in their dumb Project. They've been attacking them for months. I dunno why there was a shrine in the dilapidated district though."

"Because, he's next in line? Hannah isn't?" she says. "You might not like that, but..." she shrugs.

"As for what can help me. I don't even know. I thought the Silver Crystal was gonna be a miracle fix for me but I can't even .... exist.... in the same area as of it without feeling my existence breaking apart. It's... like... ugh. I wish I could explain it but I can't..." she says quietly.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy quirks an eyebrow. "Hannah said she's next in line. I'm not saying I won't listen to hard truths... but if *he's* next in line, why does he need to kill her? If they are both alive, he will succeed as next King of Tharkad or whatever. He should just focus on escaping. I've heard all the... space people are trapped here. And of the two of them... he's the one with the resources to hire an assassin and who doesn't have to spend his days in school and his nights hunting monsters and doing homework. He has a distinct advantage to getting out of here first, if his succession doesn't depend on Hannah's death."

She looks over Norie. "Your curse has you running on that darkness stuff Hematite and the other -ites throw around. And, and the others. The trick of getting the intelligence, the mind, the consciousness out of that vessel and into one that can feel positive emotions..."

Amy looks at the ring suddenly appearing on her finger (it's usually a pendant under her shirt.)

"...It's beyond human science, and, probably, most magic. But you suffer for every day we have only theories and nothing practical." Amy sighs.

She rests her chin on her hands and her elbows on her knees and looks down at the floor (roof.) "What's a magical girl to do? There's supposed to be some sort of friendship and love and happiness solution to everything, isn't there?"

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana kind of blinks a little and looks at Amy. "Because Hannah wants to fight." she says softly as she looks back. "Besides, yes, there's. Something. That keeps you on Earth once you get here. People get too close. And it destroys these. 'Dimensional Ships' the TSAB apparently uses. Your TSAB Gremlin was on one. Was he not?" she asks.

"...running on?" she snorts. "I'm quite made from the stuff. There's no body left for me to go back to. And if we wanna use another body, you run into the same issue as every other solution... No one's gonna just. Let me take their body. Even if that was a feasible idea." she says.

"Also."

"Shopping around for a body just feels weird. That's weird." she says with a scrunched up face.

Amanda Faust has posed:
TSAB Gremlin? Does that mean Chrono? Amy shrugs, "I assume so. I've never *seen* any of these ships."

"Well. Apparently whatever the fuck was going on with Himeko also built another body, but there was... something in it, already, and we weren't able to save it. And I don't think you wanna be like... a creepy doll-thing, at least not permanently."

Amy shrugs. "I don't think it's that weird." She looks over Norie again. "You're *made* of it? If you were able to be changed from your original state to that, it stands to reason there might be some way to change you back. Or to something else."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana snorts. "I'm already a creepy thing. I'd rather be a creepy thing that could feel emotions than a creepy thing that can't." she says quietly. "I'm just looking to get my emotions back for now. I can worry about a body later." she says quietly. "If a new body is the general solution..." she sighs a little and frumps a little hard.

"I mean. I died. I became thing thing. And my soul is in this thing now and I hate it." she says. "--I've tried various things like. Willing myself into my body but all it does is cast this illusion you're seeing." she says softly. "The only thing I know for sure is... donuts taste good."

She sighs a little.

"Sorry I tried to. Kill your girlfriend and stuff. But I can't promise it won't happen again. I can only do my best to try. Like I am right now." she says gently.

Amanda Faust has posed:
    Amy blinks. "You died?"

I became this thing. And my soul is in this thing now... Amy looks at her ring. And then back at Norie. She starts to reach towards her. "Illusion? What? That's not your physical body?"

    Asks the rock.

She stops. She's *felt* Norie touch her and drain her multiple times. "I appreciate you trying. If you need anything to get out of the agreement with Otto, let us know."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana winces when Amy starts reaching out...but she stops, and whews a bit. At least it was telegraphed enough for her to prepare. She frowns a little. "Well. This." she says as she lets herself turn into a black mist, a wispy vaugely human shaped form of black, and shadow with purple glowing eyes.

"This is the basest form I have. That I know about." she says quietly. "It doesn't cost anything to exist like this. So when I can. I just. Do? Mostly in the Dusk Zone. My own room. So on. But I'm not..."

"Human..." she says, clasping a wispy, clawed hand.

She sighs a little. Somehow. "If I could exist like this all the time, I wouldn't need to feed." she says quietly. "-and that'd solve at least a problem. But not the one I care about."

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy's eyes widen at the 'shade'. And then she looks... not generically horrified at the encounter or description, but... horrified in a way she thinks she understands, at least just a little.

Amy shakes her head. "You shouldn't have to exist like that all the time. No one should. You say it doesn't cost anything. But it costs you, doesn't it? Even just a little. Over time..."

Amy looks at her ring. "Y'know... if you can feed off us, and we can recharge from Witches... Then as long as we keep killing Witches, you don't need to feed in a way that hurts anyone."

She looks back at Norie curiously. "I wonder if you could contract with Kyubey, and use a Wish... but I'm not sure that's what you want. If it's even possible."

"...Would you like a hug? In um. Your physical form, I mean."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana shifts back to her physical form of Norie. She gently sighs. "Right. That too." she says quietly. "But if I just kept to myself. Like that? No one would never need to deal with me again. Sometimes. Just disappearing into the Dusk Zone... going native there. Sounds like the best of plans. But that'd be no good." she says quietly.

She makes a face at Amy. "What would my wish even be for?" she says. "I mean. I can talk to one of his friends. Try to." she says. "Mami-oneechan is his friend." she says. "In this case." she says.

"But. Wouldn't I need to. Hunt witches then?" she asks, quietly.

"...Also yes. I would like a hug. It'll drain thou." she says.

Amanda Faust has posed:
But if I just kept to myself. Like that? No one would never need to deal with me again.

    "NO!" Amy stands up.

"The wish would be to not be dark energy anymore, right? Um. Definitely ask first whether that would be a free part of the deal of becoming a puella magi, or something you have to wish for."

But wouldn't I need to hunt Witches then? Amy nods. "Better than having to feel like sometimes you should just go live in the Dusk Zone and never interact with anyone, right? Whether you meant as a Puella Magi yourself, or in return for feeding on us."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana winces when Amy stands up and shouts no. "Yeah. That's another thing. Needing to word the wish." she says. "I've been thinking about that. But we'll find out." she says. "I'd have a veteran to help me out, at the very least, and someone interested in helping me.. us.. obtain Grief Seeds." she says quietly.

"Yeah....yeah." she says as she stands up. "I'm gonna. Go back to my room now." she says gently. "Thanks for talking and--"

"Just stuff." she says more quieter.

"Oh..." she says as she holds up a phone.

"My number. In case." she says softly. Remembering the two never have exchanged numbers.

Amanda Faust has posed:
Amy nods and pulls out her phone, entering the number and texting Norie 'Test' so she knows Amy's number in turn.

If Norie had to become physical to hold up her phone, Amy gives her a hug, careful to avoid skin-to-skin contact. "Good luck. Talk to you later."
