Running Drive Owner: Located (Chrono Harlaown)
Date of Cutscene: 24 December 2023
Location: Gull Cafe
Synopsis: Following the lead from Adrien, Chrono manages to locate one more member of the Arthra crew. Only four more to go... Just a little longer, little enforcer.
Cast of Characters: Chrono Harlaown

It had been days since Adrien had told Chrono about the time and location of where one of the crew of the Arthra were located. Every day since Chrono had returned to the small coffee shop.

Fortunate, he had been a recognizable face when Chrono had shown his picture. Unfortunately, the workers didn’t know when he’d come by next. While he showed up around the same time when he did show, the days tended to vary. Sometimes a monday, sometimes a thursday.

But Chrono was diligent. Determined. Another member of the Arthra crew was waiting for him. Trusting him. He couldn’t, wouldn’t, let them down. He’d been sitting on the roof for the last twenty minutes, watching the entrance casually. Maybe today would be the day. In about ten minutes he’d head out again, another failure. But he knew, one day, he’d find him. It was only--

<< Boss, >> Fenyx’s voice came to him, communicating through midchildian magic.

<< Hmm? >> Chrono asked.

<< East, getting off the bus, >> Fenyx said.

Chrono looked over and… there he was. His heart skipped a beat and, for a moment, he couldn’t breathe. He just stared. Kanenari Toyori. Helmsman. Climbing off the bus and giving a little wave. He had an old captain’s hat on his head and, honestly? He looked… good. Likely the oldest of them who had stayed on the Arthra, he whistled while he walked, his back straight, arms behind him. Relaxed and casual.

Chrono activated Running Drive and began the scan. It didn’t take long for the report to come back. That was him. Another member of the crew… located.

Four to go.

When Kanenari made his way out from the shop, coffee in hand, Chrono was waiting for him. “Toyori-san?”

“Sir,” Kanenari said, quickly coming to attention and saluting with his off hand. A moment later he looked confused, then back to Chrono. “I’m… sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”

“It happens all the time,” Chrono said. “I just have one of those faces.”

“Right, of course,” the man said. “Have… we met?”

“Yes,” Chrono said. “You… served with my mother not that long ago.”

“Ah… right… right…” Kanenari said, nodding along before taking a drink of his coffee. “Good woman, good woman. What… ever happened to her?”

“I’ll know soon,” Chrono said. “Only a few remaining.”

“Right, right,” Kanenari said, though he had no idea what he was talking about. Chrono soon waved the man away before sighing. He walked off around the corner… before leaning forward against the now human Fenyx.

“Four left,” Fenyx said.

“Only… four left,” Chrono said softly, the exhaustion clear in his voice.

“We’ll find them,” Fenyx said.

“I hope,” Chrono said.

“I know,” Fenyx said. “We’ll find your mother. But… maybe you should take the rest of the day off. We’ve been searching for--”

“No,” Chrono said. “I’ll be fine in a minute. We’ll… search the ninth district today.”

She was out there, somewhere. Waiting for him. He just had to find her. He wouldn’t let her down.

He couldn’t. Not in this.
