Mio Morita Its a beautiful sunny day today. The sun is high in the sky showing it to be around lunch time. A few people have ventured outside from the cafeteria to enjoy the sunny day as they eat lunch. One such person is Mio Morita. She got herself some Onigiri and a juice. Unseen to the lunch people, She also has a few left over treats from her recent bake sale.

Mio quietly takes a bite of her onigiri as she looks around, listening to the din of conversations around the school. The occasional birds sing and of course a bee or other insect goes flying by. She waves her hand, chasing off a fly. All in all its a really nice day and a wonderful time to be outside.
Naru Osaka It's a gorgeous day, and well.. Naru rather missed breakfast. She is /hungry/, but she also doens't really want to sit indoors on such a nice day. There's plenty of students who have brought thir lunch outside and indeed, there are picnic tables to encourage such fresh air.

Naru holds her tray as she considers where to sit, coming up to where Mio has staked out a place. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She nods to the spare seat at Mio's table. She looks tired, but there's coffee on that tray. That'll fix everything.
Mio Morita "Oh by all means!" Mio gestures to Naru to have a seat there. "Have a seat. You look really tired." She smiles to the girl and introduces herself. "Nice to meet you, My name is Mio Morita. I figured I would come out here and enjoy the day. Its so nice out here."

Beside Mio is what looks like a stuffed animal. It is a Panda? Decorated in Pink and white. It has a hair pin in its hair. Thankfully it doesn't move or anything. It just kinda lays there. Just like a stuffed animal should.

"So, coming out to enjoy the day?" Mio asks as she takes another bite of her onigiri. "Its too nice to be stuck inside today. At least that's what I think." She smiles and adjusts how she is sitting.
Naru Osaka "I'm totally bagged, and I went to bed early last night even." Naru slides into the seat and shakes her head. "It's fine, coffee will fix it." She lifts her cup, taking a sip to provide her with strength.

"It's such a nice day. Not too hot, which is lovely." Naru glances to the stuffie, but she doesn't comment. It's hardly the weirdest thing that goes on at this school. It hasn't even talked to anyone (yet).

"I just couldn't face sitting inside, even if it's just for lunch." Naru smiles a little. "Naru Osaka, I'm in Grade 9. How about you?"
Mio Morita "Oh! Grade 10. Nice to meet you Osaka-san. You definitely picked a lovely day to come outside. I wouldn't want to be inside today. Too stuffy." She snickers a little at the thought. "I am just getting adjusted. I finally met my roommate last night. Now That I'm sharing a room, things are a bit different."

She notes that Naru is looking at the stuffed animal. "Oh this is Pin. She was given to me recently by this guy I met. It wasn't too weird. I really like her." The stuffed animal just lays there. Wait did it just smile? Was it always smiling? Either way, it seems to be frozen in place.

"Are you in any clubs? Some of the clubs in the school are really fascinating. I moved to Tokyo two years ago and I am still shocked by the number of different clubs and their diversity."
Naru Osaka "Lovely to meet you, Morita-san." Naru smiles warmly. "Welcome to Tokyo, if a couple years late. I'm a local, so the city itself isn't new. Just living in a dorm is new, and I've known my roommate since we were both four." She grins. "Perhaps you've met Usagi already? That's my roommate." Because she just assumes that everyone's met Usagi!

Naru peels the lid off her fruit cup, nibbling at it lightly as they talk. "I'm in Debate Club, and Art club, but ther's so many that look interesting." She nods emphatically at that notion. "Too many to pick from, I really had to narrow it down to two, there's just not enough time in a day to do more than that, and homework, and everything else. Which ones did you pick? Or have you yet?"
Mio Morita "Thank you so much." Mio smiles back, "Oh I've not met Usagi yet. She sounds like an interesting person. My roommate's name is Amanda. I don't know her last name yet. I know last night after we got some stuff moved into the dorm, I made us some udon. We needed something warm after all of that stuff." She smiles again seeming to do that a lot.

Mio finishes off her onigiri. She takes the straw and pokes it into the juice box. Taking a sip, she smiles happily. "I am in the Hero club." She laughs. "Even now I gotta think the name of the club is a little pretentious but we are heroes in our own right. We help people out. We put on shows for younger kids. We even find homes for baby animals sometimes."
Naru Osaka "I have faith that you will be Usagi, she's very social." Naru is too, but somehow she only comments on her beloved roommie's level of social. There's a thoughtful pause and than a little shake of Naru's head. "I don't think I've met Amanda yet. Plenty of other A-names, but not Amanada, or possibly there's just been so many new people that I've utterly lost track." She looks a little sheepish. "Moving into school, it's a lot of new people all at once. I'm sure we're all in much the same boat there."

"Hunh. Hero club. That sounds pretty awesome, actually." Naru giggles softly. "It's as much a charity sort of thing, but with a cool name. Which is pretty awesome. I'm glad that exists."
Mio Morita Mio just smiles and laughs a little bit. "You seem pretty social yourself. Don't sell yourself short." She snickers a little and fishes out a brownie from a small bag she had with her. "Would you like a brownie? It ain't super fresh but its still good. I sell baked goods from time to time to raise money to feed the the homeless. These are extras."

Hero club is great. Last thing we did was to surprise another club with some food during one of their events. We like to help out other clubs too." She smiles brightly about this.
Naru Osaka "I like people." Naru states simply enough, which is near enough to being her own flavour of social. She blinks and then grins. "You're a baker then? Ooh, sharing kitchenette space with folks in the dorms must make you a little crazy!" She nods eagerly enough. "I'd love to try a brownie. Thank you."

"Debate club is always open for snacks." She gives a little wink. "Art club is usually too messy to realistically stop and nibble on things without eating an unreasonable amount of paint or clay or something. But Debate Club is much tidier." She surrenders on the virtuous fruit cup in favour of a brownie. Breakfast of champions going on here. Chocolate and coffee.

"Does Hero Club also go to the self defense classes that the guidance counsellor is running? That sounds like it should fit with the name, although perhaps not as much with the mission." Naru sips a little more coffee. She is perking up as they chat, not quite as draggy as she started.
Mio Morita "I like to bake. I wouldn't call myself a baker." She laughs a little. "You're right. I usually go home and bake there. My dad helps me out with it. I usually do well enough though to not need money for it. I don't make any money on the bake sales. I make enough to cover the costs of making the stuff then the rest goes right into feeding the homeless.

Mio reaches into the bag and pulls out a Candy Cake, then a blondie, then finally a brownie. She hands the brownie over before putting the other items back into her bag. "I give the extras away. Because if I'd eat all the extra I would be the size of a house." She blushes.

"No we don't. Though that is something I could ask about. I dunno if the rest of the club would be up to it. I know one of our members is in a wheelchair so they might not be as interested in it. Still I can bring it up. Maybe there will be interest.
Naru Osaka "If you bake, then you're a baker." Naru points out pragmatically. "Not a professional baker, but you're still a baker." She reaches for the brownie. "Thank you." She sets her fruit aside and then unwraps it to start nibbling.

"That's great that your Dad helps." Naru smiles. "My mother is a terrible cook and a worse baker. I'm pretty sure I learned how to cook and bake entirely out of self defense." She giggles softly. "Although I'm not fantastic at either, it's at least better than a steady diet of instant noodles, or restaurant food." She savours the taste of the rich chocolate on her tongue and mmmms appreciatively. "This is good! Great texture. Yum!"

"I think it's fairly open?" Naru hesitates now, uncertain. "Something to ask about at least. I've folks trying to nudge me into going."
Mio Morita "Point taken." Mio surrenders to the pragmatic point. "You're most welcome. I enjoy baking and selling the stuff. Its fun meeting different people. I met a girl who is just starting here too. I think her name is Hannah. She has a Germanish accent?" She laughs. "It sounded German. But it was a weird dialect I guess."

She then frowns a little. "I don't remember how my mom cooked. She passed away when I was five." She shakes it off. "Its okay though. My dad stepped up. He moved us to Tokyo two years ago. He's done his best. It really crushed him when my mom passed. I think he still misses my mom."

"I might actually start attending the self defense class myself. I could use the lessons with all the craziness around this city. You never know what's going to happen." She shudders over the whole thing.
Naru Osaka "I know another Hana, but she's very much Japanese." Naru considers and then shakes her head. "I don't think I've met that Hannah yet. So many new students, everywhere. We're all sorting out what's going on." She laughs softly, eating a bit more brownie. Clearly she's not just saying that she likes it.

"My mother has never mentioned my father." Naru comments quietly. "And I don't want to ask, so it's just always been us two. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I'm glad you have a good relationship with your father. That's important."

Naru pauses and then asks quietly. "It /is/ weird, right? Not just all in my head, but things are weirder?"
Mio Morita "You're right about that. There is a lot of new students. Amanda-san is one of them. She actually helped me out this past weekend when I was giving out sandwiches to the homeless." She smiles. "Her and someone else whose name is escaping me."

"Thank you. I miss my mom but I know she's always with me. Even if she's gone." Mio smiles and eats some of her own brownie. "She is the one who taught me to have hope." She beams over that.

"It isn't just you. I think there is a lot of weird stuff going on in Tokyo."
Naru Osaka "I've met so many people, it's awesome." Naru pops the last of the brownie into her mouth and smiles. "I'm glad about that with your mother. That's sweet and I'm glad that her memory is a comfort to you."

Naru nods a little at the mention of things being weird. "Hunh. I .." She shakes her head a little, cutting off that thought and replacing it with another one. "I hope it settles down soon."

The bingle of Naru's phone draws her attention to the reminder noise and her eyes widen. "Oh bother, I'm about to be late for class if I don't get my skates on. It was lovely to met you, Morita-san. I hope we can meet again soon!" She gathers up the last of her lunch, and most especially her coffee. Hurry hurry off to class! She's already missed one class today, she doesn't want to miss two!
