Emi Hoshino Early morning in Mitakihara is no less busy than any other time of the day. While one particular other city may regularly claim the title of 'The City That Never Sleeps', Tokyo is at leaset a runner in the contending forr it.

Amongst the throngs of people going about their business, daily lives, and recreational activities is one particular teenager, gussied up to the fullest extent of Japan's gothic-lolita subculture. Black dress and white lace and properly applied makeup make her stand out -- just a little -- as she peruses the window at a particularly convenience store. She is honing her skills at that most time honored of traditions for teenage delinquents as people come and go.

"Hey, mister, can you buy me some smokes?" Sooner or later she did find a willing participant in her habit and the yen changes hands. She may be poor, but a smoker's gotta get their smokes somehow.

... at least this time, she didn't catch a long lecture. This has happened before. Japan has done quite a bit to crush teenage smoking.
Kaori Jira Smoking lost its charm when one was able to breathe ionised fire, or at least she used to be. Yet even that didn't seem to undercut the sheer aura of...well unnerving. An aura of 'hair trigger to break stuff' was more than enough to have most stepping away from the tall dark haired teen.

Making her way along, her steps drew her closer, closer still...until she stopped near Emi, lowering her gaze towards. "You," she simply announces, lifting a hand to point. "Where can I find something decent to eat."

There was a light accent to her words, as if she were foreign despite looking like a native.
Emi Hoshino Emi had just finished getting those cigarettes put away in her dainty gothic little handbag when she turns and catches sigfht of Kaori. That accent is weird, yeah, but perhaps she merely chalks it up to the possibility of Kaori being foreign-born.

"You're asking the wrong girl," she tells her, bluntly, before lighting a cigarette and making a big old show of it. Aw, yeah. She's posin'.

"I mean, I guess they've got crap inside the store there," She gestures over her shoulder at the convenience market she was bumming cigs from and adds, "But you did specify 'decent' so I doubt that's what you're after. There's probably something spendy around here somewhere." She takes a big old puff on the ciggie. Tries *very* hard not to cough.
Kaori Jira "Then what is the purpose of this?" Kaori questions, frowning a little and just sort of...pointing at the cigarette in Emi's fingers. "If not for nourishment?" So far, addictive substances and 'image' wasn't really something she'd understood, after all what did the 'princess' of monsters need when she had been in her born form?

Spendy? Kaori's eyebrow raises before she looks towards the market with a frown. "Show me."

No manners, just demands from the taller girl who seemed in a state of perpetual frustration, at least for the moment.
Emi Hoshino "I'm okay," is what she responds with, a polite and passive-aggressive refusal to help her.

Another puff on a cigarette as she cooly regards Kaori. And then blows smoke at her face. It's all done very casually, you know? She doesn't make a point of doing it, at least not apparently. It just sort of happens. Kaori's manners are bad even by the standards of her own delinquency!
Kaori Jira Smoke at her face. In her own time, in her own place and in her own form? Kaori would likely have not even noticed the smoke. Here however? In this tiny form that was so soft and unclawed and...lacking a tail. It does sting her eyes, it does offend her nose and...well, she leans down a little, frown on her face.

She couldn't start throwing people through walls and windows again, that didn't go so well...so she'd have to try again. "If you would show me..." she speaks slowly, exhaling a breath. "I would show my apprecitiation with food shared....or money."

Alright, so money was still a weird concept to someone from a 'might makes right' world, but hey...she was getting there. Just don't ask where she -got- that money.
Emi Hoshino Emi's eyebrows rise at the new request. She could have led with that, but she'll take it. There's a slight bow from her. Money? Yeah, sure. She can help. Money is good. It'll help later.

She pulls out her smartphone and begins scrolling through it, holding up a single finger. "One moment, so sorry, please," She adds, politeness rolling off her tongue absent the former disrespect.
Kaori Jira Better. Much better.

Maybe there was something to this manners thing? Or maybe it was bribery?

Either way, Kaori straightens up and folds her arms under her bust and then seems to await Emi's...well, she had an idea of what a smart phone was, even if she was still getting used to the idea of using one effectively. RIP to the first phone she got her hands on.
Emi Hoshino Having now casually ashed out her cigarette before someone gives her a hard time for public smoking -- an entirely too likely outcome here in this district -- she holds her hand out wordlessly, palm up, towards Kaori.

Still looking at her phone, too, making a show of 'hmms' and 'ahhhhs' as she scrolls through it with her thumb.
Kaori Jira The pair of them looked like trouble, truth be told they probably were. Though it only took one overly opinionated 'busy body' to talk to them. Instead, they were left standing there for...well, an akwardly long amount of time, since it seemed Kaori really didn't 'get' the hand gesture, or was wilfully ignorant.

"Are you finding the task difficult?"
Emi Hoshino For the first time, Emi really looks up at her.

Her expression is not unreadable. 'Are you kidding me' is written all over her face.

"... You know. I'm waiting for you to pay me and then we'll go to the locale. I found one. It's supposedly good." She shrugs. "It's expensive, but you know, they're all expensive around here. All the rich people." A vague gesture. She gets the impression that the imperious seeming girl might simply be the inevitable result of being someone's spoiled brat.
Kaori Jira "You are waiting to be rewarded before a task is done? That just sounds..." she trails off, exhaling a small breath. Humans were weird creatures, now she was meant to (mostly) be one? This sucks and then some. Still Kaori frowns, reaching into the jacket she'd taken from...well, it was unimporant. Having worked out at least the apparent value for each, she had a rough idea of what she intended to pay...but the cash was held out of reach with an expectant raise of an eyebrow.
Emi Hoshino "... I am waiting to be paid before I render a service, yes," says Emi. She reaches out to take the yen, adding, "Come on. Let's go. I'll take you there." Assuming she gets that sweet lucre, she'll whirl in a floof of skirts and petticoats and start on her way down the stree from the darn convenience market that she was stopped in front of.

Just in time, too, the clerk was starting to look concerned out the window.
Kaori Jira Well...humans were weird, but seemingly it was well enough to understand. After all, it seemed that the complexity of currency made motivations more simple...then again, it had also lead to things like 'ice cream', so it couldn't be all that bad. Following along, the taller girl with the dark hair continued to walk with Emi. "I am Kaori," she spoke, a little tilt of her head. Introductions were what they were ment to do, right? Even if they were a little late.
Emi Hoshino "You could have led with that," remarks Emi, cooly, as she marches on, chunky-goth-boots clicking on pavement with each step as she navigates the thronging Tokyo crowds. She stops a moment, as if something catches her out of the corner of her eye and she turns to have her gaze follow someone, frowning like she recognizes them.

Then covers one eye with her hand before shaking her head and turning to lead the way onwards.

Still, she seems on edge after that, even as she leads the way to a delicious and clearly hoity-toity Tokyo ramen shop.
Kaori Jira A goth and a...well, somewhere between biker and 'light-goth' making their way along, Kaori continued to follow. Whatever that frown was, that concern from her 'guide'? Kaori didn't seem to notice at first, instead there was a furrow of her brow. "Is it not normal to offer your own name after one has been given?" she adds, expectant tone following before they head their way towards the hoity'est of toits when it comes to noodles. At least as far as Kaori had seen.

If she -was- meant to be some spoiled brat? Well, the frown she gave to the finery was probably a little strange.

This ward was considered dangerous, magically if not practically so. Monsters, youma, who knows what else had been known to attack, ambush or otherwise get up to mischief...but for Kaori at least, from ignorance or confidence...she seemed far more focused on getting fed.
Emi Hoshino And Emi hasn't been here long enough to know better, as of yet. It's just the type of area that would draw a young wanna be delinquent like herself.

"Oh, so now you care about manners," remarks Emi. She opens the door and bows to her.

She manages to make it look rude. This time. It's a little needlessly low.
Kaori Jira The bow? It doesn't get a reaction...maybe she didn't know it was weird? Regardless, Kaori steps through, folding her arms under her bust once more. "I am new to this place," she muses, folding her arms under her ample bust and turning her gaze over the surroundings. "New to the ways of people like..." she trails off, tilting her head to the side. "If I am so wrong, perhaps you should instruct me?"
