Rubi Hanabusa     Rubi has been settled into the large dorm room for a few days now, and she hates it. The room is fine, really. She just isn't used to being alone. She grew up in a small house with her sister and dad, and now she has no friends, and her sister won't be at the school for another week, at least.

The dorm room is one of the larger ones. A square main room with four beds, each at a corner. Bookshelves and several study desks make up much of the wallspace. A small bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet is attached. Some kids have single rooms, some double. Some even have suites, it seems! This one is somewhere in the middle.

Three of the beds are empty and untouched, with no decoration around them, Rubi's is unmade, and the girl perches atop it with her legs crossed, a laptop in her lap. A few posters are up around her bed. They vary between a poster of a classic American Mustang with a beautiful girl posing beside it, to one of her favorite anime (An action/romance with a queer lead couple!), and a dangling trans flag. She's dressed in her civilian clothes, since class is over for the day. Jeans and purposefull mismatched socks (One pink, one black), and a sleeveless shirt with some cute video game protagonist on the front. Someone cute, but tough. It's likely this setting's equivilant of Ellie, from the Last of Us 2.

Having heard a roommie will be moving in today, she glances up at the door at every single sound.
Yukiko Fuyuhime Most people wouldn't look at a school, or even a school dormitory and think 'freedom'. But then, most people weren't Yukiko Fuyuhime, heiress and 'pride' of the Fuyuhime family. To say her life at home had been controlled was like saying a monsoon was a 'little bit wet', so the idea of boarding away from her family's estate was more than a little exhilerating.

For Rubi however? It was probably more than a little odd when the door was opened and...it wasn't another girl that stepped in, but several adults instead, men in suits carrying several suitcases and simply depositing them on the bed, paying the student literally no mind before making their exit.

There was a gap in time, perhaps literally long enough for Rubi to ponder peeking at the luggage before the door swung open once more.

The girl behind it was dressed in a white and black peacoat dress, her hair tied back and her eyes sweeping the room to take in the sights of the mostly untouched space. Of course, that 'mostly' came to a screeching halt when her ice blue gaze reached Rubi's section of the room.
Rubi Hanabusa She sat up a bit as the adults trampled into the room with all the luggage. The girl began to speak a couple of times, but is promptly ignored, so she annoyedly keeps her mouth shut. She even pouts a little bit. When they're gone her gaze drifted to the luggage, and she considered it. Expensive, designer luggage. The kind of thing she'd only really seen online or on television back home. She hadn't been in poverty, but her family lived simple lives, especially in comparison to the Fuyuhime's.

She was just beginning to close her laptop when the door opened again, and she was jolted back to attention. She stared at Yukiko for a long, somewhat bewildered moment. Why was her heart suddenly RACING and her cheeks turning red? Anyways, she set her laptop aside and sprang to her feet, marching across the room to bow. It's a nice bow, but without formal rigidity.

"Hi! You must be my new roomie! I'm Rubi! Rubi Hanabusa! It's so nice to meet you! I LOVE your outfit!" She did feel a bit underdressed, suddenly, tugging a bit on her video game t-shirt.
Yukiko Fuyuhime A blink, a frown, a light step back and Yukiko looks down at the piece of paper denoting her room number again. One of the bigger rooms she'd been told, a suite she'd assumed...but she hadn't expected it to be a shared space. Was it a mistake? No, unlikely.

A dig by her father to make her return home however? That was -far- more likely.

The thought actually had her eyes narrowing for a silent and likely akward moment before she lifted her gaze to the girl before her and tilted her head. Another light pause before she offered a decidedly more formal bow in return. "Yukiko Fuyuhime," she gives her name before her gaze goes to Rubi's own attire and space once more. "Thank you...it has quite useful pockets."
Rubi Hanabusa "Pockets are good! I love pockets! You can...um...put stuff in them."

She stood there for a long moment befor awkwardly brushing the back of her head. Her hair was unbound in her usual ponytail, tumbling to her shoulders in unkempt waves that shomehow suited her perfectly. They were cute, even, if so different from Yukiko's so put-together appearance. "Sooooo...this is your corner of the room!" She walked over and gestured, obviously, to where Weiss' luggage was laid out on a bed.

"We have two more beds, but my sister is moving in in the next few weeks, so...that leaves one! No clue who's gonna fill it." She spoke Japanese as a native, but her accent was a little rural and certainly lower-class.
Yukiko Fuyuhime "Yes. You can." Yukiko offers in insightful agreement before moving her way towards the bed, raising an eyebrow at the mention of Rubi's sister. Great, even less space for herself...

Still she wouldn't let that stop her from being successful in her studies!

Yukiko's accent was...well, exactly as posh as one might expect.

Moving to open her bags and begin unpacking there was a light frown. Shared bathrooms, shared living space, no kitchen space.... "This room is...very limited."
Rubi Hanabusa Rubi makes her way over, invating Yukio's personal space a bit as she leaned over to watch her unpack.

"Really? This room is like a mansion! Well, this place is. Well, it -is- a mansion, I guess, but still!" She sits on the edge of Yukiko's bed.

"I'm guessing you're used to finer digs. Mn. I'm from a small farm up north," she explains, turning her attention back to the other girl.
Yukiko Fuyuhime "Well, for one thing? My room didn't have me sharing with someone else," Yukiko points out, not turning around as she continued to unpack her books, clothing, luxury items out in...well, an almost obsessively ordered fashion.

A farm? That brought a raise of an eyebrow even if no comment followed. Odds were that she'd never even seen most farm animals up close in real life before.
Rubi Hanabusa "Ooooh, yeah. Me neither. My sister and I had different rooms. Well, after, like...10. 10 and 12..." She trailed off a bit and continued to sit on Yukiko's bed as she unpacked. She leaned back on her hands, watching her with the utmost curiosity.

"So, what're you gonna do? Gonna join any clubs? I think there's a fashion club you'd absolutely kill at! I'm in the gardening and auto clubs..."
Yukiko Fuyuhime "Once I have looked around," Yukiko muses, tilting her head to the side she comes to the next bag. Where Rubi had her posters? She had a whiteboard with a planner set out to keep track of the year.

"First I need to establish my study..."
Rubi Hanabusa She stares at that whiteboard with an 'are you serious?' expression, but she doesn't say anything.

Eventually she hops to her feet and walks over to her own bed, flopping back onto it and staring up at the ceiling. "Well, folks are pretty nice here. Lotsa cute boys. I'm sure you'll be super popular," she states a bit dryly.
Yukiko Fuyuhime "Maybe." Yukiko offers, but the word is dismissive, disinterested, instead focused on marking out the dates of the month before she set the marker aside. "All I care about is that the classes are worthwhile."
Rubi Hanabusa She sighs softly at that and shakes her head a bit. "Fine, classes. Yeah, the classes are fine. You're gonna learn so much you're head's gonna explode. At least that's how -I- feel half the time..."

She stands and makes her way over again, standing beside the other girl. At this closeness, the rose-shaped pendant around her neck can easily be seen. The metal is unlike any other but one. Anyone else would figure it's some kind of iron or something, but Yukiko might recognize it.

A Dust Emblem.
Yukiko Fuyuhime Well that, that brings a little raise of her eyebrow while Rubi complains about the clases and the learning, an eyeroll perhaps before she turns to unzip her outter 'jacket' and comes to turn back. Her peacoat dress was loosened, just enough to show the similar emblem...her own the shape of a snowflake. Right at the moment her eyes boggled at the sight of Rubi's own.
Rubi Hanabusa She gasps and points a finger at the snowflake, arm extended. J'accuse!

"Is that a Dust Emblem?," she hisses, trying to keep her confusion and excitement quiet, but not doing an amazing job at it. She hurries forward, leaning very close to stare at it. It only made it a little awkward, as the girl's face was practically in the blonde's light cleavage. "How do you have one?? I thought only my sister and I had them??!"
Yukiko Fuyuhime "How did...what did..." Yukiko begins before refastening her jacket, as much for modesty as concealing the item. "Could you -please- be a little quieter?!" Yukiko begins, lifting her hands to her face with a little sigh. "What are the odds of..." she begins under her breath before letting her hands fall and looking back to Rubi. "Alright. Sit down and...tell me everything."
