Cast of Characters: Makoto Kino, Adora Rainbowfist

Makoto Kino has posed:
It's late. It's the degree of late which officially wraps around to 'early,' when all of the students in the RHA dorms should be asleep in bed. Except... Adora's still out.

This early in their tenure as roommates, Makoto honestly has no idea if this is typical or not. After Adora's explanation of her situation and Catra's, she couldn't help being concerned. A little past midnight, reluctantly acknowledging that there wasn't much she could do about it either way, she finally gave up and went to bed, but she's still not sleeping. Instead, she lies on her back with one hand under her head, fidgeting blearily with her phone, her Jupiter pen lying near at hand at her bedside. Just in case.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
And then the door swings open, and in bursts Swiftwind. Well, tiny Swiftwind. The beautiful alicorn has white skin/fur and golden hooves, with large, rainbow feathered wings and a matching mane. He's about the size of a doll. He flies into the room as a tired looking Adora holds the door open, and he does several loops of the ceiling.

"Did SOMEBODY SAY...SWIFTWIND?!"

"Ssssh! Shut up! Come on, people are sleeping!," hisses Adora, stumbling in and closing the door behind her. She's dressed for a night run, in those tight running pants, athletic shoesd, and a sleeveless shirt. A large, golden bracelet is around one wrist.

"Sorry!," the horse stage-whispers. "I'm just so excited to see you! We were so worried back on Etheria! Everyone was totally freaking out after that stupid General-guy zapped you with that thing!"

He lands on her bedside table, squinting at the horse statue that is about the same size as him. He nudges it with a hoof.

Makoto Kino has posed:
DID somebody say Swiftwind? Well - no. But the dramatic entrance is enough to send Makoto sitting bolt upright, dropping her phone in her haste to grab for her henshin pen. It lands on the covers, screen still lit up and spilling its phosporescent glow upwards.

"Adora!" If there were any question of whether Makoto was sleeping or not, she hadn't even taken her hair out of the high ponytail yet. "What hap-- is that a tiny flying horse?"

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Makoto-san! Uh..."

Swiftwind hops from the nightstand and flies over to the bed. He canters about, furrowing his brow as he tries to find balance on top of the blankets on the mattress before he ends up looking up at the other girl.

"Aha! You must be the roommate Adora mentioned on the way over! Hello, New Friend! I am Swiftwind, She-Ra's faithful steed and companion!" He poses, then. He raises his head and whips his mane back, raising a foreleg and bending it. You can practically see the tiny sparkles when he does so.

Adora sighs and slumps down to sit on the side of her bed. "Yeah, like he said. That's Swiftwind. Back home he was...um. Horse-sized. He was when he showed up tonight, too. But it seems like he's small when I'm not in She-Ra mode. Convenient. Also...I guess normal people don't see him? Or some see him as a doll I'm carrying? That's how people on the way back seemed to see him, anyways.

"Hmm. Indeed. I will have to try twice as hard to get the recognition I deserve!"

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto rubs the back of her hand over her eyes and blinks a couple times, just to make sure - but no, Swiftwind is still there, all but sparkling with the force of the personality contained in his current pocket-sized form. "Wow." She might have found something more intelligent to say, but then again, it is two in the morning. "That's incredible. Nice to meet you, Swiftwind."

Belatedly realizing she's holding a pen for no easily-explained reason, she shifts to set it back down on her nightstand and looks toward Adora. "Is he why you were out so late? Or... did something else happen?"

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Swiftwind takes to the air again, idly dooing some loop-de-loops and exploring the room. Meanwhile, Adora rises and crosses the room, sitting down on Makoto's bed if she doesn't seem to mind. She kicks her shoes off firtst, then folds her legs under her.

"I went for a run cause I couldn't stop thinking about things. Ended up really far from the school. There was this group of girls from Obsidian out having a Girls Night, I guess. Smashing windows of abandoned buildings, spraypaiting walls. Stuff like that. Catra was with them, but...so was Glimmer. She's another girl from my world, and she WAS one of my main allies. Heck, she was the Queen of Brightmoon and leader of the Rebellion. But here? She's full of Dark Energy and working with Obsidian."

She sighs and glances up to watch Swifty. "I was trying to get closer to Catra and make her happy so I...went along with them for a little bit. But Catra was ignoring me and being mean, which just means she was conflicted about having me close, if that...makes sense to anyone but me. And then I got tired of it all and got pissed and transformed to She-Ra...and here comes Swiftwind. Stuff kept getting worse, and then Swifty and I got out of there."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Far from seeming to mind, Makoto scoots over a bit and tucks her legs under her, making space for Adora to sit down comfortably as she listens. "So... there's two people from your world who Obsidian has gotten hold of, now? That's awful, Adora, I'm so sorry."

She glances toward Swiftwind for a moment, then focuses on Adora again. "I'm glad you and Swiftwind got away okay. It sounds like it must have been really rough."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Thanks." She sighs and rubs her face. "Back on Etheria there were a few times my energy got corrupted and I got...vicious. Mean. Dangerous. I'm seeing the same stuff in Glimmer and I have no idea how to fix it. So now I have -two- of my friends to save, and I love them both. Just...y'know...differently."

Swiftwind lands on Adora's bed, curling up on her pillow. "You saved Catra before! And well, she saved you, too! So, as much as I think you can do better then some feisty cat, I know we can do it again!"

Adora offers him a tired smile.

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto smiles as well, nodding along with Swiftwind's encouragement. Then, though, she seems to hesitate a little, and reaches almost absently for the gold-capped green pen she only just set down.

"I know we still don't know each other all that well yet," she says, slowly, like she's not entirely certain she should say it, or how. "But you can call me for backup if stuff like this happens again, you know?" There's no trace of admonishment in it, nor any question of why Adora wouldn't have called her this time. Just that bit of concern creasing her brow. "You shouldn't have to deal with something like that by yourself."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
She blinks at that. "I...thanks. I'll call for help next time if I can but...promise me something? Now matter how bad Catra seems to get just...trust me on her, okay? Nobody knows her like me, because I've literally seen who she can become in her future. It's not guaranteed, of course, cause...future's aren't the same all the time and blah blah. But...yeah."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto's head tilts to the side at Adora's request for a promise, curiously - and then when she hears what it is, she lets out a little laugh. "I mean," she says, "you're the one who knows her, not me. If Obsidian's got her hurting people, I'll have to stand up to her, but... of course I'll trust how well you know her, and what you say she's capable of. So, don't worry too much about that. She's important to you, so I'll have your back."

She nods, once, like this is a thing that's just as easily said as done.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Oh, I fight her, too. I've cloekd her once or twice, don't get me wrong. If she needs to be stopped she needs to be stopped. I just...everyone in her life has given up on her but me."

Swiftwind squints at her from the pillow, and Adora chuckles. "Fine. And Swiftwind."

Makoto Kino has posed:
"Well," Makoto says firmly, "I might not know Catra at all, but I want to be on your side. And that means helping you get her away from Obsidian." A beat. "Helping you and Swiftwind get her away from Obsidian."

She grins over at the tiny alicorn on Adora's bed, before something seems to occur to her. "Are we gonna need to get stuff for him to eat, to keep in the room? He'll need to eat, right?"

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Well, we have those apples from the Nurse..."

And then Swiftwind is off the pillow in a blur of rainbow and feathers, landing atop the minifridge to begin tackling an apple with his teeth. "It's HUGE! This is Heaven! Are these all for me?? Adora, what a kingly gift!"

"I...no..." She sighs and grins through her tiredness. "Alright, Swiftwind. Have at them."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Watching Swiftwind attack the apples, Makoto lifts a hand to smother a giggle. "We can always get more apples," she suggests. "You wanted to make applesauce, right?"

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"I did! Well, the Nurse suggested it and it seems like a good place to start, I guess..." She trails off and turns from Swiftwind, looking to her roommate.

"Sooooo, how was your night?"

Makoto Kino has posed:
"It's a great place to start. Though there's lots of other delicious things you can make with apples. Once you've got applesauce down, we can work our way up to apple pie."

Asked about her night, she makes a distracted little 'hm?' noise and glances at her discarded phone. "Oh... it was fine." Yeah, that's totally why she wasn't asleep yet or anything. "I was a little worried that you hadn't come back yet, but..."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"I'm still learning, thanks to the Cooking Club. Growing up I only ate rations and cafeteria food which was...uh. Not like the cafeteria food here. Food in Brightmoon was a total change for me. And all the food here! I wanna try everything!"

She beams at Makoto. Her face falls a bit, then. "Oh, right. Sorry. I guess I'm not used to having folks here worried about me when I go off."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto shakes her head at that. "It's okay," she assures. "We only just started rooming together... and you couldn't tell your last roommate about what was going on, right? I get it. It'll just take us both a little time getting used to things. But, like," she grins crookedly to take any implied reprimand out of the words, "if you're gonna be out all night, maybe text me to let me know if I should sit up in case you need backup or not?"

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Yeah, and...note for the future? i SUCK at lieing. Back home I didn't need to keep She-Ra secret. The whole world knew who I was. And anytime I tried to be secretive just...whew!"

She fishes out her phone and holds it up. "Text, got it!"

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto flashes a satisfied thumbs up, laughing quietly. "Yeah, I know how that is. I mean," she amends quickly, "not about everyone already knowing or anything. I have no idea how I'm going to handle this whole 'secret magical warrior' thing now, though, 'cause I definitely don't have a poker face at all. I had to go in to see Nurse Meiou the other day and get my records updated, and she had me spilling everything in like fifteen minutes." The face she makes is a very wry one.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Oh, me too! That girl is RUTHLESS! I mean, in a nice way! Just...got all my secrets, too. I guess she didn't really have to work hard, though."

There's a soft groan from the other side of the room, and she glances over. Swiftwind is laying down by the basket of apples, one half-eaten. "So...much...apple...," he whinnies.

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto nods in commiseration - yeah, that tracks entirely with her experience with the school's nurse. "At least I have it on good authority that we can trust her. I suppose that's probably why the school has her working as our nurse in the first place."

The groan from across the room has her following Adora's look over to Swiftwind. "Uh-oh," she says. "Sounds like it's time for an apple coma."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Swiftwind is already snoring.

Adora grins a bit. "I'm so happy to have him back. It -almost- makes up for Glimmer being all...whatever the heck she is now." The blonde sighs and brushes her fingers back through her hair. "ANYWAYS."

Makoto Kino has posed:
"Hey." Reaching over, Makoto gives Adora a light pat on the shoulder. "You'll get it worked out, okay? It just might take some time. Anyway, you should probably get some rest for now... you had a pretty rough night."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
The girl offers a tired smile and nods. "Cool. Yeah. Thanks. Anyways, I -am- really sorry for making you worry. I'll do my best not to do it again but..as a warning...I can be pretty airheaded."

She rises and makes her way over to gently scoop up tiny Swiftwind, who keeps sleeping in her arms. "I am NOT gonna get used to him being tiny."

She moves over to the bed and crawls under the covers, cuddling the horse a big like a doll, which he seems fine with.

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto shakes her head, waving off the apology. "It's fine, it's fine. Adjustment period, like I said, right? Don't worry about it."

She watches with slightly starry-eyed admiration as Adora collects Swiftwind and settles in with him. "He's so cute, though! I've always loved horses, and now you have one that can stay in our room with us. How great is that?"

Her smile is cracked by an expansive yawn that she covers badly with a hand. "--oof. Okay, I've gotta sleep. 'Night, Adora."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Don't worry. I'm sure he'll curl up with you sometimes, too," Adora offers with a tired grin. "Man, he's -really- warm..." Like sopme carton character, she's asleep as soon as the words leave her mouth, snoring softly. Yes, Adora is absolutely a snorer.
