From Radiant Heart MUSH

Date with Justice
Date of Scene: 02 November 2023
Location: Plot Room 1
Synopsis: Hinoiri and Sayaka have their first date and... it's not nearly as much of a disaster as it could have been. Who knows? Maybe they won't kill each other. Hinoiri gives AMAZING advice, after all.
Cast of Characters: Sayaka Miki, Hinoiri Kirara

Sayaka Miki has posed:
Frankly speaking, Sayaka does not know what possessed to accept that date. She barely even knows Hinoiri, and there is nothing that suggests she is attracted to her. She can't even hide behind saying it was a spur of the moment thing, because she actually thought about it for a long time. Who knows what Hinoiri was thinking while she wasn't replying. And her nerves weren't helping her any.

Because the clock is ticking forward, and she can't keep dwelling on it, reading and rereading the text conversation until words stop having a meaning. Her new unexpected roommate noticed however, and pulled her away from the phone to force her on confronting the inevitable consequence of her own choices. Not that it actually made it any easier. She hadn't actually been the type to go on dates, and her wardrobe was woefully unsuited for it.

So, a trip to the store and much debating with Ula later, she is standing below the oak, waiting for Hinoiri, a jeweled hairpin decorating her hair, wearing a black shirt under a pastel blue sweater with a rhomboidal design, paired with a bottoned-up green skirt, the hem decorated with white intersecting moon segments, and white boots to go with it.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara had... been a little nervous. Not too nervous. Just a lil bit. A light nervousness. Just a tiny bit. As a treat. This... was going to be terrible. Awful, probably. But Sayaka DID save her life so... she had some good taste. Probably. Maybe?

She was still a bit weirded out by her hatred of the thing that gave her power, but... eh. There were weirder things. She had a whole thing with Sora. So it wasn't like... she didn't understand that sometimes people were complex.

She didn't wear anything fancy. Some skinny jeans, a biker jacket, red shirt under it. She looked hot. She knew she did. Probably. DEFINITELY!

And now? Now she was ready. The sound of the motorcycle could be heard... and then... seen. As Hinoiri came around the corner, sliding into a parking spot. Helmet on. She looked to the oak and... "Hey. Miki-chan, you ready?" she called out. Okay. Right. Should could do this.

Admittedly, she didn't actually... know the girl that well. But... when she made her way forward, she pulled out... well... "So, I actually didn't know what kind of... I didn't know much about you. So I just kind of got... both." And then held out a small package?

... Chocolate roses. She got her chocolate roses.

Sayaka Miki has posed:
The arrival of her date is announced by the noise of her motorcycle. Oh gosh, just thinking of it as her date... Sayaka pays attention to the noise of the vehicle as she approaches it, not the person on it, just the motorcycle. Because that surely works in tricking herself, right? Nope.

"H-Hello, Kirara-senpai", Sayaka says, a cracked smile on her smile on her face as she looks at the pilot. The bluenette squirms internally when Hinoiri hands her the chocolate roses. Quite the classic fare, and the thought in a way as sweet as the chocolate that composed it, despite this being just a test.

Right, remind yourself of that. This is just a way for her to learn, nothing more and nothing less, so stop being so anxious. "Thank you, Kirara-senpai, I really appreciate it", Sayaka looks at her, sharing her worries over whether she would have liked her gift.

But again, dating is about seeing if things are compatible, so maybe she would actually like this... Besides, everybody likes music, right?

"I hope you would like mine too... It's Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain and other pieces on the same style", she explains, handing her a package with a MP3 player inside. Kind of made obsolete by phones, but hey, in case she is running out of space, she can keep her music there, right?.

Next, if Hinoiri asks her to hop on the bike, Sayaka does so.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara felt a little relief when her gift was approved. Score. That was what was most important. Knowing that she was doing well. "Hop on," she said, motioning behind herself and pulling out the helmet. It was only after the girl got settled she took a moment to peer inside the bag.

"Music is always good," she said. "But... uhhh... not sure what this is? A... phone?" she asked, pulling out the MP3 player. "Or..." Oh she had absolutely NO idea what this thing was. To be fair, it wouldn't take long for her to understand. They just weren't very common and she was still picking up on earth tech.

Of course, a moment later they were off! "So, uhhhh. How's the whole... magic sword thing going? I mean, you know. Since you like... stab things. And witches. You hunt many more of them lately?" she asked.

"... Sorry. Not sure if that's an okay thing to actually talk about. I... assume it is? But... you know. Heh. Ehhh... you look cute. Is the hairpin new?"

Sayaka Miki has posed:
Her gift got approved. Sort of. The way she said it was good, right? "It's a MP3 Player, you play music on it, and I inserted a few tracks I thought you would like", she explains to Hinoiri.

"I got into an argument with a senpai who trusts Kyubey like he is the most saintly thing on Earth", she confesses. Not the most fitting subject for a date, but the nervousism just made her blurt it out. "He saved her life, but... Anyway, the rest has been going well." She puts on the helmet, then gets onto the motorcycle.

"I have been getting used to hunting witches, and apparently their familiars can escape from barriers, because I met some of them while patrolling. Besides that, I have also been hunting the minor youma here and there. What about you, do you know much about magic?"

Being called cute sets her on fire. "Me? Cute? I mean... Not sure... I am not really... Well, thanks... A lot, Kirara-senpai. The hairpin is indeed new. A friend recommended it to me." As much as she would want to say she doesn't do cute, she has to thank Ula later if that actually gets her a positive reception.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara stared at the device. "So... like... huh. Wow. That's actually really cool. Thanks, Sayaka-chan," she said with a small chuckle. It seemed her new girl friend was better at this than she was. A pocket music player... that was actually pretty rad. She actually spent a few seconds fiddling with it, until it started playing and... "Okay, yeah. This is waaaaaay better than the chocolate rose," she said. Neat."

"As for Kyubey.... ehhhhh. I don't know about him. Seems weird. No clue why he does what he does, but... he offered me power. But, honestly? My 'wish' wasn't something I could really do if I took him up on it. It's... kind of to be my own boss, you know?" she said with a snicker. "So being his little minion wouldn't actually work."

She drove as recklessly as ever.

"I know a bit about magic, but not really... able to do any of it. I generally try to keep my head down, don't bother it, hope one of you lot deal with it. Gonna keep doing that until it turns out I have some grand magic power or other. Who knows? Maybe I'll get giant magic space lasers! That'd be cool!" she called back.

Dodging in and out of traffic, driving like a woman who wanted to BEAT the google maps expected times.

"Witches suck, by the way! Only ran into the one but REALLY not a huge fan! Have you been staying safe? Team up with any of the other magical people in this town?" Barrrrely resisting the urge to call them sparkle skirts. "And yeah, cute! You look nice in that little outfit, got all dolled up nice for me," she said in a teasing tone. "I do hope I'm making it worth your while."

Sayaka Miki has posed:
The positive reception of her gift unties a knot in Sayaka's stomach, so she actually begins relaxing. The music itself is an additional help in that regard. "I am glad you liked it", she gives Hinoiri a smile, even if the other girl can't see it. She actually liked her gift. She actually liked her gift. She actually liked her gift. "Your chocolate rose was very thoughtful too, though."

Sayaka was holding herself tightly to the handholds, trying to keep the stomach from doing the somersaults it already wanted to do even without Hinoiri's driving into the pictures. She hasn't actually been motorsick in the past, luckily. "I am really sure either, but I am not trusting someone who deliberately misleads you. I got what I needed, he got whatever it is he wanted, and now I get to see him as little as possible." Way better that the omnipresent figure he was earlier. "That makes sense", she replies, after listening to Hinoiri's wish. "At least there are tons of ways for you to gain magic, you don't need to obtain it from him."

Then Hinoiri talks about wanting to keep her head down, which leaves Sayaka confused. "In what regards do you want to be your own boss then, if you are trying to be your head down? I thought that's what you meant when you brought up refusing Kyubey and you would jump at the chance of, I don't know, getting one of those fancy devices."

Sayaka of course nods when Hinoiri brings up witches suck. "Yeah, they are the worst. Besides all that reality distortion thing they have going on, I would prefer if I didn't have to walk a long way just to find them. At least, the other demons have the decency to be more in your face when they harm someone."

In a bold move intended to be reassuring, she lets go of the handles and starts using Hinoiri as her anchor, bringing her arms around her waist. Probably shouldn't bother the driver like that. "Yes, I have been enjoying the it a lot so far, thanks a lot, Hinoiri-senpai."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara honestly thought the MP3 player was awesome. Like a portable phonograph. Sure, her phone could play music but this was still cooler.

"Yeah, I guess... him not telling you things all this time probably causes a huge rift. I wouldn't say trust him. But don't let your disliking of him cause you to give up whatever edges you have. Like... you're doing some dangerous stuff. He may not be trustworthy, but he might be one of the few things out there who get the full picture of what it is you're doing. Other girls who depend on him probably won't take kindly to him getting bad mouthed if he's the only one they currently can depend on."

"And I mean... if I go magical, I want it to be on my terms. Not owing my powers to some jerk who tells me 'Hey, it's five o'clock, go kill a witch' or something. But until I've got some magical powers, I'm kind of... not really able to do the fighting thing. You know? So keeping my head down until that happens is best. I'd rather not get attacked by some magic monster."

Hinoiri, admittedly, grinned when she was held onto. She was more used to that. Well, admittedly she was probably more used to having someone small in front since Dia, but the handlebars... not so much. Alas, soon the ride was over and they came to a stop, outside the noodle shop. "So... uhhhh. I haven't eaten here before, but it has good reviews. So... if it's good, I'm taking credit. If it's not, totally not my fault," she said with a playful chuckle, before yanking her helmet off and flipping her hair back, then glancing towards her.

"You do look cute, though. Don't let anyone tell you differently."

Sayaka Miki has posed:
"He is staying around in general because we need him to dispose of Grief Seeds, but that has been the extent of my contact with him." she informs her. Though as much as she didn't want to admit him, her advice about him having the full picture. "I will resort talking to him if I encounter something I do not know how to deal with. Besides when I quarreled with that senpai, he was really quick to show up, so it wouldn't surprise me if he is currently running next to us unseen to keep an eye on me." She really doesn't want to try calling him in case it actually proves her point, though. She wants her date to be peaceful.

"Yes, that makes sense. Are magic lasers really your kind of magic? Or would you like something else?" She thinks back to the powers she got. "I don't know how getting magic works, but the powers I obtained are incredibly tailored to me, so our desires probably do shape them somehow." Maybe she should ask about Madoka about hers. It wouldn't surprise her if she got a notebook with that actual uniform. Sayaka chuckles lightly, that would really be like her.

Hinoiri's joke when they stop at the shop makes her laugh too. "That seems wise to me, Hinoiri-senpai. And anyway, we either get good food, or we have a good time picking the food apart like those irate professional chefs", she jokes. "I have already had lots of fun though, so the food won't ruin it for me." That wasn't the most romantic talk, but the chat flowed well, so there is no way she would regret this date.

"Thanks", she blushes now that her defenses are down. "I did doll myself up for you, as you out it earlier", she reveals, suddenly timid. "I wanted to leave a good impression."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave a small shrug. "Probably a part of the magic. He gave it to you, so he's likely tied into it in some way so when you call him, he knows and pops up nearby. Teleportation is totally a magic thing, right? Especially if there's a bunch of you. Can't be everywhere at once."

"As for my kind of magic... couldn't say. Lasers would be cool. Teleporting. Maybe fireballs or ice spikes. You know, magey things. Oh. Or a magic motorcycle, that'd be neat. Never been a big sword girl, if I can be honest. I could give it a try, though."

She reached out to take her hand and... Then... in a startling display of forwardness from her, she leaned forward. And kissed her... on the cheeks. Well, it was a first date. "Well, I think you look lovely. And hey, even if it doesn't work out, at least we had fun." And then she gently pulled her inside, out of the cold and wind. Once they were seated, she'd glance to Sayaka. "You know... I was kind of a bit in shock at the time, but I don't think I asked. You said before that... well... you didn't make a wish thing because I was in danger. What WAS your wish? If you're okay with me asking. Unless it was for a date with me, in which case, I think that'd make you my magical girl, not kyubeys," she said that with a teasing tone, at least.

Sayaka Miki has posed:
Yeah, Sayaka doesn't really like the thought of being tied that closely to Kyubey, giving her a small shudder. "I hate that you could be right. Wouldn't that mean he heard me everytime I mentioned his name? Not like he cares about our date though." Hinoiri is really refreshing with how introspective and easy to talk to she is, Sayaka finds herself thinking.

"If you ever get magic, you can hit me up for a training whenever", Sayaka suggests. "Different magics would only prepare us better."

Time slowls to a crawl when Hinoiri gives her a kiss on the cheek, leaving her way more flustered than before. "K-Kirara-senpai, that... that was..." She doesn't know what to say, so she stays silent, still looking at Hinoiri surprised. They are on a date, so she should have actually expected something like that at one point. And... she doesn't want to give Hinoiri the idea she is opposed to that, especially when she is being so sincere with her about her looks. "Uhm, thank you, Kirara-senpai. That was nice."

Then there is the matter of her wish. That was the last thing she wanted Hinoiri to mention. Not because she has any reservation about it, but this is a date, and the last thing she wants if for the other girl to get the wrong idea. "A date with you wouldn't have been a bad wish", she tries breaking the ice, mostly to give herself strength. "But no, a friend of mine had a debilitating injury, so I wished for that to be healed."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave another shrug. "I don't know. Maybe? But it might be an intent thing. If he knew EVERY time someone said his name, he'd likely get a headache the more his name spread. So it might be an intent thing. Wish for him and he appears. You'd need to ask him."

Hinoiri couldn't help but snicker at the idea of that. "Well, hopefully I get magic that doesn't instantly get crushed by swords, then."

It was... nice, wasn't it? Kissing her on the cheek. It wasn't... like. Romanticy or anything. It kind of was. But honestly? It just felt nice to show the girl some affection. She... seemed like she needed it. A little bit. And seeing her smile was nice. It kind of felt nice to know she was doing something for the person who saved her life.

However, the talk of the wish? Oof. That... "That's... an awful wish. Err, not the wish, I mean. The fact you had to make it. Like... that's... awful," she said, reaching over and patting her on the shoulder. "I hope your friend is at least grateful for it. That's a huge wish. But... hey. I guess you're just that kind of sweet girl, huh?"

Sayaka Miki has posed:
"Asking him that would be worth it." She is right. Best to keep it in mind at least. "If I find out that is the case, though, I could invite you to pronounce his name for an entire hour." It would serve him right.

"It was a bad situation for everyone, I think. But I don't regret how it went." Like heck that was her being sweet, though. If Ula is right... She is selfish, that's not her being devoted to protecting people. Her eyes get darker for a moment before the shadow passes and she looks contentedly at Hinoiri.

"I haven't been able to reach my friend yet, but I don't regret it. I got this power out of it, anyway. And now I have the strength to do what's right and protect the ones I love." Even if she had to mutilate herself for it, and Madoka is better at it than her. But everyone is happy now, and she is too. "I have to thank you, Kirara-senpai. This date was actually the most fun I had in a while", she smiles brightly, that passing cloud absent now.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara nodded. "I tell you what. If we find out that's the case? I'll set up a recording to say it over and over all day." Yes. Hinoiri WAS that petty.

However, the rest of it... made her frown. She reached out and gave her a light hug on the shoulders. "Sounds like it. And... yeah. Really? You haven't seen her since?" she asked. "That's rough. I hope they're at least grateful to you. They owe you that, at least. You made a wish like to save them, when like... frankly you could have wished for anything. I mean, I know you're their friend and all but I probably wouldn't have made a wish like for that. Happy you don't regret it, though. But... you did a lot for them. She better at least appreciate it. Heck, you just managed to save me as a biproduct of making the wish and I feel pretty dang grateful."

She gave her a little grin before waving over the waiter. "Vegetable udon for me, what would you like?" she asked.

Sayaka Miki has posed:
Sayaka nods impishly when Hinoiri declares she is on board with it.

When Hinoiri comes over to hug her, the bluenette doesn't hesitate in hugging her back. She even puts a little bit more strength than Hinoiri did. "I think that would be case", Sayaka replies to Hinoiri. "That injury was an obstacle to my friend's dream. Now that is gone, though? The sky is the limit." She is sure Kyousuke is really happy about it.

"And I am glad that was so important to you, Kirara-senpai. I don't think you should have gone out of your way to give me this splendid reward, but I really appreciate it."

"I think I will have the same", Sayaka replies, undoing the hug, the lingering warmth of Hinoiri, both physical and of affection, staying with her.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara smiled down at her. "Yeah. And, frankly, to do that for them? That's a big sacrifice you made. Like... seriously. They must be your best friend ever at that point. They owe you big. They..." Then trailed off. "Wait, there's the whole... veil thing. Can... they even know you made the wish?" she asked. "If not, that's... kind of crap. I mean, you did that for them and you couldn't even get them knowing about it? I mean, assuming they're non-magical and stuff?" She shook her head.

"Err, no offense. And you know..." She poked Sayaka's nose. "Sayaka-chan? You saved my life. Seriously. I could have died. I probably would have if you hadn't shown up. I mean, I think you're possibly fun to be around and who knows what else? But even if you'd come by after and been like... 'Hey, go on a date with me for saving your life'? If I'd said no? I'd be the jerk."

"You know how many people, every day, wish someone would come and help them in dark moments? Would save them when they needed it? Countless. And you were that for me. So don't downplay it or say I shouldn't be grateful for it. You were a hero to me and it's okay to enjoy it. But nah, you saving me isn't the only reason I asked you out. But it certainly helped.

Sayaka Miki has posed:
"They would know if I revealed myself and told it to them", Sayaka comments. But that's not something she needs. "They can't know as things stand, though, you are right about that."

Someone else would have done the same, she doesn't tell her. I was also saving my life there. I was just as much in danger as you, she would remind her. I think I would have been the jerk in demanding a reward, everybody deserves to continue living, after all, she would have replied. But she says nothing instead, assimilating the content of Hinoiri's speech.

The bluenette gets teary-eyed when the speech gets to the end. It certainly has a positive impact on her. She dries her eyes with the napkin on the table, telling Hinoiri it's nothing. She doesn't want this beautiful moment to pass away, she wants things to stay like this. "I see what you mean, and I will take your words to heart. Thanks a lot, Kirara-senpai."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara nodded. "Yeah. Pretty crappy. But oh well, their loss. Instead, you get to be the cool girl with magic swords who saves lives and gets asked on dates by awesome biker chicks," Hinoiri said in a teasing tone.

Of course, the crying made her chuckle a little nervously. "Yeah. Well... just let yourself enjoy things, that's all. What's the fun in being a hero if you won't enjoy it? And heck, if someone gets their life saved and all they have to do for it is buy you dinner? Pretty cheap price if you ask me," she said in a playful tone.

All in all though... she wasn't actually having a bad time. The girl was kind of... sweet. And cute, in a way.

She'd just... need to keep her out of Sunbreaker's way from now on. So... she didn't get hurt.
