Late for Fite Nite
Date of Scene: 08 November 2023
Location: Sports Pavilion
Synopsis: Kyouko stops by to magical fite nite, late and clawed up. She spends her time there chatting with Kyouka rather than participating.
Cast of Characters: Kyouka Inai, Kyouko Sakura

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Self-Defense Class, otherwise known as Mahou Fite Club by the students, tends to run from around 4:30-5:30pm. That's after the mundane class has run its course, and about the same time as many other clubs and after-school activities. By this point in the year, the class is well-populated, with at least a dozen if not more mahous showing up to train and spar with each other under the protective barrier of the portable barrier device Kyouka has in order to keep the practice secret and the gym in one piece.

She doesn't interfere with the training or sparring that much, but rather just wanders the room, watching people practicing techniques or sparring with each other. If she notices something she feels needs correction or could use some advice, she'll step in and offer it, but in most cases she is content just to supervise and make sure nothing gets too out of control.

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Late. Late late late late late.

Kyouko emerged from the labyrinth and blinks up at the sky. It is much darker than she had hoped, that fight took far longer than she'd hoped. There was a /plan/, and it involved actually going to Fite Nite.

At least it isn't that FAR from the school, and if she hurries..

A few spear assisted bounds and leaps, sticking more to the rooftops than the streets, a henshined Kyouko drops in just outside the barrier.

She doesn't even entirely notice that she's looking a little rough, the witch got some good hits in, and there's some claw scratches over her ribs, tearing her costume.

She watches for a moment, leaning on her spear.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka notices Kyouko as soon as she enters- whether it's some kind of alert that the barrier has been passed through, or just her magic sense being sharp enough to notice a new source even among this many all about her, her grey eyes flick to the girl in red when she enters the gym and stands off to one side. She doesn't approach immediately though, rather giving the younger redhead some space, as if afraid pouncing on her at once would perhaps cause her to flee.

"Good, that's much better." She tells the girl she is currently working with, after helping her with her form while performing a kick. "Use your hips more than your knees. Trust me, you'll thank me in ten years." She laughs a little, turning away to continue her rounds. After a while these bring her near to where Kyouko stands.

"You look a bit cut up. Pretty sure we got some people who heal, in here. You want to get fixed up?" She greets the Puella in a casual tone, not making a big deal of it but not ignoring the state of her, either.

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Adrenaline is a wonderful thing. Kyouko looks wary as Kyouka appraches, her attention leaving the various fights in progress to settle on her. At the mention of the cuts, she startles a little and looks down.

"Well shi... shoot." Kyouko doens't quite swear as she finally notices. "Stupid Witch." She looks up and shrugs. "It'll heal, I'm not dripping or anything."

Her chin juts a little, towards a pair nearby. "Newbies?" Kyouko asks, somehow not adding the almost expected 'I could take them' additon. Perhaps it's just implied.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka smirks as the younger girl censors herself. She wouldn't bother herself, of course, but maybe it makes her feel like an actual authority figure that someone like Kyouko would worry about cussing in front of her. When the girl refuses the offer of healing, she shrugs her shoulders but doesn't press the issue. Perhaps she knows that Puella heal quickly, or perhaps she just assumes Kyouko knows her own body and powers in that regard well enough to know what she needs.

She glances over towards the pair that Kyouko indicates, lifting her shoulders in a little shrug. "Seems like there's more and more every week.. although I'm sure some of that is just perspective. I'm used to a much less populous magical environment. Still, better in here than out there getting in trouble." At least that's how she sees it.

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
It's only a flesh wound!

"They've been breeding like roaches." Kyouko comments. "There are magical girls /everywhere/. It's like a plague of locusts, except with a lot more frilly skirts and ribbons." She frowns a little. "Feels like a trap to squish 'em all together here."

Kyouka Inai has posed:
"Well I'm pretty sure they're not the ones doing the breeding," Kyouka says, pausing before adding, "That doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean. I don't think magical girls are out there making more magical girls, through any means or method. Something's changed in the atmosphere.. metaphorically speaking." She shrugs her shoulders, contemplative. "Doesn't really matter I guess- not like there's anything you or I can do about it."

"I'd worry about it being some kind of trap if I wasn't pretty sure I knew who was behind it, and so far her motives seem genuine." She snorts in amusement. "Though I'm still not sure it's worth the trouble. Still, I said I'd do my best at this job and I'm doing it." She glances at Kyouko.

"Speaking of which. Have you finally decided to lend us your expertise?"

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Kyouko can't help but snort in amusement at the breeding comment, even if she made it first. "I mean, don't think I haven't considered Kyubey ka-bobs, but it's a quick little bas.. critter." She shifts a little in how she's leaning on her spear. Amazing how realizing she has gashes in her side now means that she's noticing those gashes more.

"Hunh." That's Kyouko's comment on knowing who is behind it. "More competition.. more non-Witches and not really enough more Witches." There's an economy to be considered, and the supply and demand forces are all out of whack.

"Figured I'd at least see what the kids looked like." Kyouko harumphs softly. As if she's so much older. Experienced, yes, but older? Not even a little.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka wonders if it would blow Kyouko's mind to know that she doesn't actually care if the girl swears or not. She decides not to spoil that mystery, because it probably bodes well that Kyouko cares enough to censor herself in the first place.

"Well, I don't think you need to be overly worried about that." She says, when Kyouko mentions Witches. "That is to say, I haven't actually seen that many new Puella in here. Whether that's because they just don't come or because there aren't that many I can't say, but I don't think there are proportionally more than there have been. So you're probably not in a crisis just yet, in terms of supply and demand."

She makes an amused sound at the comment. "You're welcome to actually participate you know. If you want to."

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Kyouko doens't care! She only half notices that she's censoring herself, truthfully.

"Every time I blink, I seem to hear about a new one." Kyouko grumbles softly. "I left to get away from the pack of them. Come back to just as many."

She folds up her spear, tucking it away to .. wherever it lives. "There's no one here that's worth me fighting tonight." Kyouko declares a little haughtily. It is certainly that, and not at all that she's realizing that she's sore, and tired and probably should let herself heal up. Not at all.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
"Well, I hate to break it to you hunny," Kyouka says with a sardonic tone, "But you're standing in the middle of Tokyo, one of the most populated cities on earth. Just by dint of the sheer law of averages you're likely to find more Puella here than almost anywhere else. If you want to avoid them, you should go somewhere out in the country.. although I guess maybe you'd be short on Witches out there, too. I'm not an expert." A shrug.

Kyouka glances around at the refusal, taking in her students. "Maybe not." She agrees, perhaps surprisingly. Or perhaps not. "I have a few promising students that I think could give you a good run for your money but none of them seem to be here today. You'll just have to come back next time." She sounds mildly smug. "If you want a worthy opponent. Maybe after you've stopped bleeding."

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
"Yeah yeah yeah. It didn't used to be this bad." Kyouko protests still, and she doesn't even yet know that half of it, in terms of puella population. "And yes. The Witches are few and far between when you're out in the middle of nowhere." She's checked.

"You don't get the same kids every week?" Kyouko asks, curious in spite of herself. A hand reaches down to check her side at the mention of bleeding, just to check for sure and Kyouko twists a little to be able to glance down. "It's not bleeding, just a little crusty. It's fine."

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka shrugs in regards to the question of attendance. "This part, the magic part, isn't an official class. It's an opportunity to train in relative safety and improve your skills. The more experienced ones, they come when they can but a lot of them have stuff going on, you know? And they need it less than the absolute newbies." She nods towards the pair that Kyouko had singled out before.

"So a lot of my regulars come when they can, but they don't make it every week, and that's fine. This is about providing a place to train and work on strategies and tactics together with other mahous. It's not about attendance records or some kind of grading structure."

She eyes the wound. "So you say. Still prefer the fights to start with both combatants lacking visible injury if possible."

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
"I mean, if you can tell Witches to stick to a schedule, I would have told it to turn up yesterday. I wasn't doing anything yesterday." Kyouko drawls sarcastically at Kyouka. "No respect for my busy social schedule. At least it won't inturrupt not-class again. I fixed it."

"Hunh." Kyouko considers the merits of working on tactics, and building that sort of working relationship. "I work alone. I can give them some practice fighting though."

Kyouka Inai has posed:
"You can work alone all you want," Kyouka says, with seemingly infinite patience, "But you'll still get stronger if you practice fighting against someone who's near your level. You work out ways to beat them, and then you can use those same tactics against other enemies who might be fighting you in less friendly circumstances."

She nods her head towards the gym full of mahous sparring. "This sort of training doesn't just benefit newbies. Everybody can get better, but only if they're challenged. If you can be challenged in an environment where you're not actually in danger, then the next time you are actually in danger you'll be able to use what you learned to up your chances of survival."

Kyouko Sakura has posed:
Infinite patience is a job requirement.

Kyouko considers that and then nods. "I can beat them, and give them the experience." Because she's gracious like that. Certainly /she/ isn't the one who is going to get her comeuppance.

Spoilers: Kyouko is in for a surprise.

"Alright. I'll be back, sometime." Because clearly that's very importnat for her to provide her benediction upon the practice. Grace it with her presence.

Kyouka Inai has posed:
Kyouka has no doubt that Kyouko is capable of winning in a fight against most of the people in her classes.

    Most.

She shakes her head slightly with a half-smile as the girl adds 'sometime' on the end of her statement. "Class is always at the same time, and you're always welcome." She says. "Try not to get too clawed up." She then turns and walks back into the gym to offer some advice to the next pair of practicing newbies.
