Synopsis: After getting roughed up AGAIN by a youma, Naru stops by the Infirmary for help getting cleaned up. A little catching up is done and some ideas are put forth.
Cast of Characters: Naru Osaka, Setsuna Meiou

Naru Osaka has posed:
Previously:

The fight had been surprising at best. Naru got cornered by a youma that was all bluster and grrRAWR and terribly fond of trying to grab at her attempting to keep it at bay.

One of the wild grabs caught Naru squarely and she discovered that bowling is not nearly as much fun when you're the ball. She skidded along the alley, through some boxes and didn't end up in the street by colliding shoulder first with a wall. Not enough to keep her down for that long, she was back up and fighting again, although now only so much as to manage to make her retreat.

It would be a short fight for even a single magical girl or boy. All things considered, the back alley packing crate youma hit hard, but wasn't all that resilient to magical attacks, once actual mahou arrived, not so long after Naru had fled.

Currently:

Naru has accepted the reality that she finally needs to visit the school Nurse. Getting road rash out of your own back is just not a skill she possess and she's quite certain it should not hurt to take a breath. She waits outside the infirmary to be seen, holding her left arm gingerly as she does.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
The infirmary at the Radiant Heart Academy is, as perhaps expected, just as swank as the rest of the school. It's a large, well-supplied room separated with some of those rolling medical divider walls. Fairly nice beds can be seen here and there through gaps, and the main area is set up like a typical waiting room/nurse's station, complete with posters giving info about various adolescent diseases/conditions/problems.

One poster that catches the eye is a small, framed one that looked like it might have been made on a printer with a sheet of A4 paper. It simply reads:

'Please do not confuse your GOOGLE search with my medical degree.'

Oddly enough, today is a slightly busier day than normal. To the point where someone actually has to WAIT to be seen.

For a rarity, when Naru arrives, the door is closed and there's a small sign indicating that one should wait for a few moments.

Still, the wait isn't very long, and the door opens to let out an embarrassed looking senior girl who blinks at Naru once, then steps hurriedly aside to let her in before scampering off down the hall.

Nurse Meiou is momentarily not seen when one enters, but the sound of running water make it apparent where she is, and her voice calls out, "One moment. Just have to scrub down."

And indeed a few moments later, the tall nurse walks around one of the dividers before stopping to blink at Naru, "...Miss Osaka..."

She quickly steps over to assess the younger woman and gently chivvy her towards one of the exam beds, "...what happened?"

Naru Osaka has posed:
"Clearly it's a busy day." Naru comments with a wry twist of her lips as she settles carefully to sit on one of the beds, her legs swinging.

"I had a little.. oops on a run today." Which is perhaps the understatement of the day. She considers how exactly to put it and then sighs a little. "I can't reach to get the gravel and gunge out of my back, and Usagi isn't home to ask her to clean it out for me." Over and above the reality that she probably can't actually bend that much right now anyhow.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Setsuna frowns at Naru's back, then sighs. Some days she really does wish her perview included the ability to heal through direct application of magic.

Still, she doesn't spend more than a moment or two on such a thought before she holds out her hand...her fingers twitching slightly this way and that as if flipping through a file before she twists her wrist and drops a bottle of clear blue pills into her hand which she gives to Naru, "Hold onto these for a moment while I go get the trauma kit."

And with that she steps over to an assortment of what appear to be fishing tackle boxes in various colors.

Grabbing the light purple one before hitting the sink for a glass of water, she steps back, hands the glass to Naru, shakes out three of the pills and hands them to the younger woman, "Take these."

And with that, she scoots over behind Naru, opens her kit and starts looking over the damage.

Naru Osaka has posed:
"What are they?" Naru asks, because she really is that sort to ask before she takes random pills. She reaches for the pills and the water and winces. "Okay, you might need to wrap my ribs too. I cannot take things on solo. Nor.. to be fair.. did I expecialy /want/ to."

Surface damage is always so unrelentingly painful, all the nerve endings are just pissed. It looks like she fell off her bike and scraped the hell out of her knees and shins.. except its to her upper back and shoulders

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
"Just bog standard ibuprofin, I'm afraid. Three is a bit of a strong dose, but you'll need it, I fear...and the human body does have a wonderful tolerance for the stuff."

Once Naru has taken her pills, Nurse Meiou very gently begins pulling Naru's blouse off...which probably won't feel all that good due to it likely having stuck here and there to the wounds, "...well...let's get this cleaned out, then and we'll get you patched up until something a bit more permanent can be arranged."

With that, she gets the tweezers and starts systematically cleaning up the cuts and scrapes, making sure no debris is left as she starts to work from top to bottom, "I imagine whatever did this is likely taken well care of by now?"

She sighs, "...this kind of thing happens to you rather a lot, doesn't it?"

There's no accusation to the question...however there IS a sense of exasperation.

Naru Osaka has posed:
"Ahh." Naru nods at what she's taking and down the hatch those go. Three is a lot of someone her size, but right this second, that seems like a great idea.

Considering how much it has to be uncomfortable, Naru is good at sitting very still and quiet as the fabric is untangled from herself.

"I did call for back up, so I'm going to assume so. I did not stay to personally witness its demise, but considering it noticed my hits.. it was probably a speed bump for someone with actual magic."

"Er." Naru starts at the quesiton. "Well. I havent been thrown into a wall in a while?" She offers, as if that is somehow a notable accomplishment. "And it's been weeks since I last got shot."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou pauses and gives Naru a bit of a LOOK that she can see reflected in one of the paper towel dispensers not far away, then shakes her head and goes back to work, "Miss Osaka...most of the students here...in fact, most citizens of Japan manage to go their entire lives without being shot, stabbed, magially drained, had Dark Energy shoved into them, or any other number of magical maledictions happen to them even ONCE."

A pause is taken as she gets out a particularly large pebble, then she goes on, "At this point, you're so much of a statistical outlier that it's well approching the absurd."

She snorts, "When someone reduces attacks to simple numbers, it's supposed to be illustrative, not an example of reality."

She changes the tone of her voice to be more 'Announcer' like, "...in Tokyo, a youma attacks a woman on the average of once every other day...THIS is that woman..."

Naru Osaka has posed:
"Ow." Naru absolutely noticed THAT pebble, but she doesn't twitch away. She's good at sitting still.

"It's pretty much long past absurd at this point." Naru agrees as she holds her arm close to her body. "I had a knack of walking up to where Hematite was draining people, just at random. I literally get drained often enough that I sometimes don't notice right away." She manages not to shrug, although Setsuna can feel the start of that twitch of her shoulders.

The announcer voice does make her start to giggle, in spite of the owwies. "Couple times of week at best for youmas! And usually I can run!"

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Fortunately, Nurse Meiou is pretty good at her mundane job as well, as she's soon worked her way almost all the way down to the lower reaches of the damage on Naru's back, "...yeah...at this point, I'm pretty certain that Destiny is fucking with us."

She sighs, then shakes her head, "That said...have you looked into any kind of defenses at all?"

The taller woman pauses as a thought occurs to her, then she quickly goes back to cleaning the last of the wounds on Naru's back, "...Actually, before you go, I've got something to give you to help with that."

She then smiles, "...though on a related note, I hope you liked the Christmas gift."

As the last pebble is removed, she shuffles around the supplies, then says, "Okay...on the upside, that ibuprofin should have worked it's way into your system by now, which will help a little...on the downside, given I'm going to have to sterilize your wounds now with saline it's probably not going to help MUCH."

And with that short warning, she starts using a saline squirt and a clean cloth to move from one scrape or cut to the next.

Naru Osaka has posed:
"This is the first time in a really long time that I've actually gotten myself cornered. My most effective defense is still running, and that I'm really pretty good at." Naru braces for the sting of the saline and there's a little YIPE when it comes. Not just does it sting.. but it's cold!

"I really did like my Christmas gift.. thank you." It's a good distraction from the cleaning out the scrapes on her back are getting. Naru tries not to squirm, it will only make it worse. "I've got my Neph plushie hanging out at my desk with me."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Fortunately, cleaning the scrapes is a faster process than picking debris out of them was...and Nurse Meiou soon starts back at the top of the shoulders putting wound cream on, "Good. Frankly, I was a bit surprised when I saw him defending you during the big blow-up. I knew Endymion wanted to rescue his crew...but I was rather skeptical about it until I saw that."

She leans over enough so that Naru can see her out of the corner of her eye, "It put me rather more at ease abotu the whole prospect."

Once all the wounds have bacitracin applied, she starts one final pass to tape bandages down, "...and while you're right that running is probably your best defense, I've got a collapsible baton I can give you so that you've got the option of something to parry with until you can break free."

Finally, she steps back to inspect her work, "Now...you said your ribs were giving you some discomfort as well? How about your hands?"

Naru Osaka has posed:
"I'm glad that all of them got rescued." Naru comments as she tries not to shiver. Cold saline. Cold cream. Cold!

"I'm rather fond of Nephrite." She smiles gently. "I've an unreasonable fondness for Jadeite, even if he's got a lot of healing to do." Naru nods. "I expect they all do, in their own ways."

"Oooh.. a collapsable baton would be /amazing/" Naru comments. "I train mostly with a staff, although by no means exclusively."

Naru tries to take a deep breath and gasps softly. "That feels like it's a bad sign, when I can't take a deep breath. My shoulder hurts, but I think it's just a combo of everything. Hands are fine." She offers those forth for examination. A couple scrapes, but nothing that even ranks.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou does a quick look over the scrapes on the hands, then nods, "Yeah...just wash those real well here in a few minutes and we'll put some bandages on them and they'll be fine."

She then examines Naru's ribs...gently and carefully prodding.

Finally, she frowns and nods, "Yeah...not a full break but it feels like you've got at least a little fracture."

She stands up and walks over to one of the cabinets, "...by rights, I SHOULD be running you over to Tokyo General to get that taken care of...but...given that you're aware of the...shall we say, BRIGHTER side of the school...I have other options."

She walks over with a large tape patch and some bandages, "Still, best to make sure we get that taped up properly first."

And then she's putting word to deed, "...oh...by the way, how's Luna handling Usagi's change of station? I'm rather hoping the shift doesn't put a strain on their relationship."

Naru Osaka has posed:
"I gave my hands a pretty good scrub before coming over, they are already looking better." Naru comments as she glances at them. "I apparently didn't do the usual thing of putting my hands out to break my skid.. I took it all on my shoulders."

"Well, Luna went home with Usagi for the holidays, so they are working things out pretty well." Naru holds her arms up to let Setsuna tape her back together. "Or at least making the effort to figure things out." She considers. "I mean.. it's an aduustment for everyone.. Usagi.. Mamoru.. his boys. Everyone."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou snorts, "You can say THAT again. Uranus went from 'I'm not sure we can work with her' to 'Imma beat up anyone who looks at her wrong' so fast it made my head spin."

Once she's got Naru bandaged up, she does a bit of cleanup of materials, then reaches into a cabinet...and by the slightly awkward way she's holding herself, it's fairly apparent she's reaching into some kind of concealed area.

She then comes up with a pair of small wrapped candies which she hands to Naru, "Take one of these now and one tomorrow. They're a little something that Guardian Daifuku cooked up for me when I asked her. It's not nearly as good as what she can make in person, but these keep fairly well and still accelerate healing a LOT...and should make it so that when you DO manage to get a healer, they won't have to put as much effort in."

Then she turns and heads over to the closet at the corner of the room, "...give me a minute and I'll get something for you to wear back to your room...no need to walk the halls in that shredded blouse."

Naru Osaka has posed:
"To make /all/ of our heads spin." Naru agrees.

She just sits quietly a moment after she's bandaged up, getting the hang of quite how she can and cannot move.

"Ooh.. the healing candies. I gave my stash back." Naru smiles brightly. "They seemed to work really well, thank you." She takes the candies and unwraps one of them. "Between the two candies, I probably dont' even need to bother a healer."

Even if it would be a /darn/ fine idea.

"That would be great. Or I can text someone to get a shirt from my room." Naru wasnt' relishing doing the walk of shame back to her dorm room.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou is back in a few moments...and she hands Naru what appears to be a spare labcoat.

Which given the relative height differences means that the labcoat that Nurse Meiou uses as a knee-length dress becomes more of a full-length dress on the rather shorter brunette, "Eh... this should work for the way there and I've got a few spares. Just give it to Usagi to get back to me sometime."

She then does that rummaging gesture with her hand before dropping a small rod about a foot long into her hand which she then hands to Naru.

It's black, covered with a rather grippy rubberlike material, and has the legend 'Tac-Smack' on it.

Once Naru has it, Nurse Meiou drops another into her hand and shows the younger woman how to thumb open the release and then flick one's wrist to deploy the baton, "This folds up small enough that it should easily fit in a pocket, they're reasonably rugged, and they should help if you need to fend off something aggressive until you can make some distance."

Naru Osaka has posed:
"Thank you." Naru claims the lab coat and then.. manages very very carefully to get into it. That was far harder than it needed to be around sore ribs and shoudlers.

"I can bring it back here as well." Naru offers. "Either way."

There's a soft oooh as the baton is extracted from .. who knows where.. and demonstrated. "Thank you. I am more useful, if only slightly, with a weapon, but carrying one around has been the challenge."

Naru slides her way off the bed, a little gingerly, and lets the lab coat fall to evening length on her. "Thank you for patching me up. I do appreciate it."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou reaches out and gently pats Naru on her good shoulder, "I'd say that hopefully this won't be necessary again...but if the past is prologue, I think we both know that's unlikely."

She then shakes her head, "In any event, go get some rest. It'll help one way or the other...and I think Usagi gave you means to contact me, as I recall?"

Naru Osaka has posed:
"I /usually/ manage to keep myself out of the Infirmary." Naru protests with a sheepish smile. "There's not much to be done for drain, in my experience, and today's experiences aside.. that's the bulk of my injuries. I'm not often tossed around like a hacky sac."

Naru nods. "I have a communicator, I can both get a hold of people, and be gotten a hold of as needed. Over and above the very mudane 'text messages'."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou opens her mouth to say something...then visibly pauses and gets a rather contemplative look before closing it again and reaching up to tap her lips.

She stands there for a few moments, "...now there's an idea..."

She looks over at Naru, "...I wonder if it would be possible for a Senshi to donate some mana to help someone who's been drained..."

She shrugs, "...it might be possible somehow...but I've got NO idea how to do it."

She then looks over, "...If you're ever looking for something new to research, there you go."

She then snaps her fingers, "Oh! And I lent Miss Terios my copy of the Clavica Salomonis de Secretis. I don't know if she was ever able to make anything of it...and to be frank, I'm not even really sure if it was ever an actual functioning magical system...but you seemed interested in researching more about magic, so you might want to get it from her when she's done and see if you can make anything of it."

Naru Osaka has posed:
"That could be a very interesting research angle." Naru agrees wiht a soft hmmm. "I'll have to consider looking into it. I know energy infusion is possible, I've been infused wiht energy a couple of times.. both good and ill.. but I dont think it's common. I didn't really, either time, stop to really think about the how."

Naru smiles a touch and nods. "I'll get in touch with her and see if she's willing to loan it. I'm interested in having a look at least, even if I dont get any further than she did."

There's a little bow. "Thank you again. I am going to go try and put myself to bed. Good night."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou smiles and shoos Naru gently out, "Go sleep. It's probably the best thing for you right now."
