964/Yoinking your tall thing!

From Radiant Heart MUSH

Yoinking your tall thing!
Date of Scene: 04 January 2024
Location: Plot Room 1
Synopsis: Sunbreaker yoinks the outer's tall thing! For absolutely dastardly reasons... She needs a nurse.
Cast of Characters: Setsuna Meiou, Mamoru Chiba, Hinoiri Kirara

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Just like any other school of note (especially one with a swank budget like this one), Radiant Heart Academy has an infirmary to take care of any students that manage to get themselves in minor scrapes and to triage and treat students who manage to hurt themselves more severely pending transfer to somewhere where higher-order care is available.

At least, that's the general rule. Given the budget Radiant Heart boasts, the infirmary's a bit bigger and more well appointed than most. There are several beds (which are currently not in use) and to an eye familiar with the medical world, there's enough well-laid-out kit that it's quite likely that, in extremis, one could actually do surgery here.

Still, most of the room is broken up with little rolling-wall medical dividers, with the bulk of the area set up for the kind of service one would need for a typical average assortment of students. Reasonably nice chairs, little triage areas, that kind of thing. The walls have various posters one might see in a doctor's office, though most of them are a bit more aimed at student-level things like common adolescent illnesses and the like. The pain chart, however, probably catches the eye, as it reads:

1: Why am I here?            6: Hornets!
2: Probably need a Bandaid.        7: Why is this happening to me?
3: Alright, this is annoying.        8: Am I dying?.
4: Merely a flesh wound.         9: Mauled by Wolves.
5: Hornets?             10:Unconscious.

As is normal when nothing special is going on, Nurse Meiou can be found leaning against one of the counters, absently spinning a pen through the fingers of her off hand while she reads a book.

Her curent title of choice features a mostly white cover featuring a large, scruffy-looking man wearing a trenchcoat while holding a staff in one hand and a truly enormous revolver in the other.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
There's a brief knock on the infirmary door to announce the arrival of the ~Prince of Earth~ -- by which we mean classes are still out but Mamoru's checking to see if Setsuna's here, and he's got a little bag with him.

He steps in and ALMOST gets distracted by the pain chart, but rallies and beelines for Nurse Meiou, grinning, and holds out the bag. "Happy New Year," he says cheerfully. "The thing on top is mostly a joke, but one I hope you'll find delicious; the thing underneath that is... it's an unworthy thank you for everything you've done for me and the guys. The thing on bottom is the best thing I could find to thank you for your Christmas gift!"

On top: rock candy that's mostly different shades of green, but one which is a dark purple-ish blue and one which is pink and one which is dark grey. In the middle: a purposely mean-looking and definitely scarred one-eyed grey cat plushie with ragged fighter ears. On the bottom, in a little box in tissue paper, is a mall-kiosk-quality enamel pendant on a chain that's the Pluto design that looks like a blue whale swimming around a large heart; underneath the tissue inside the box is a small stack of stickers of the same design.

"And-- I'm glad you're back. And staying, I hope!"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker panicked. Was panicked. WAS VERY PANICKED! No no no no no hold on please hold on I told you not to do that I TOLD YOU but you didn't listen and WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN oh no no no no no! Pace pace pace pace!

There'd been an explosion, a shriek, and then the shattering of glass. Now? Now Sunbreaker was on a time crunch. She paced back and forth. Doctor? No, couldn't get here in time. It wouldn't last forever. It was only for triage. She had a kit, BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT! Kirakirafantastica magic now hung in the air, tinting everything... a bit... more colorful.

Especially the crimson of blood. There wasn't much, but there was *enough*. It hadn't been her fault, but they'd only been here because of her. She paced, chewing on her thumb nervously. Panicked.

Leave them. It was their fault. She'd already shattered one thing in order to buy time... but...

... But that wasn't right. Even if it was their fault, they'd only been ehre because SHE'D demanded them. Take them back to Obsidian?

No. They were mundane. Obsidian... was filled with monsters. Too many monsters. They'd likely jump at the sight of wounded and... NO! They needed a professional. Someone good with... that stuff. But also someone who could deal with magic. She didn't have time for medical staff to get here. She--

The school! YES! She began prepping, expending... way, way more magic than she ever wanted to.... but setting up a teleportation spell. Not dusk porting. No. This... was more precise. More akin to a rubber band. Launch herself somewhere, trigger it, then go back. Exhausting. A bit painful for the caster, but well... It wasn't like she had a choice. It WASN'T right for them. She just had to set the trigger word... that was easy.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
As Mamoru appears in her doorway, Nurse Meiou blinks and smiles, "Ah, Mister Chiba. Come in, come in. So nice of you to visit." As she straightens up, her pen spins to a halt in her fingers.

A quick twist of her wrist, and the pen is replaced by what appears at first glance to be some kind of spatial anomoly. A piece of void in a roughly rectangular shape that, once shifted enough, has the PL symbol for Pluto sketched in gold on it.

Said bit of apparent void is then used to mark the nurse's place in her book before she closes it (revealing the title to be written in English and is apparently 'Ghost Story') and places it down on the counter behind her.

Taking the bag offered to her, she sets it on the counter and separates the three layers.

Candy is always good. That's set to one side.

The mean cat plushie gets a blink and surprised look...then she smiles and gives it a quick hug before making it disappear...and finally the pendant and stickers get a rather confused look for a few moments before it's apparent that Setsuna remembers those pictures that the flyby produced and what the internet made of them, and then she spends a good minute obviously trying not to giggle.

Once she can compose herself a little more, she smiles warmly to Mamoru, "Thank you, Mister Chiba...you really didn't need to, but I thank you anyway."

She then leans back agains the counter once more and shakes her head, "Oh, I never really left all that willingly. Unfortunately magic sometimes focuses more on wording than intent...but that situation has been taken care of by Usagi...so I don't see it reoccuring anytime soon."

She then tilts her head a little, "I take it the heat has, for the most part, passed for you and your crew?"

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru, out of school uniform and just in jeans and a t-shirt and-- strangely, perhaps-- a leather jacket? Looks weirdly younger for a second, smiling lopsidedly, hair in his eyes. "I'm really glad you like them. And good! Good -- I get it, with wording. Wording is really important and I'm a lot more careful with it these days..."

He lets out a breath, then shifts his weight and puts his hands in his pockets. "Yeah -- I mean, for now. Our rooms got flooded really precisely, it had to have been magic and it had to have been Her, and I don't think that's remotely the end of it, but for now it's a tolerably petty level of irritated vengeance. I'm not going offcampus alone, for the most part," and he takes one hand out of its pocket to lift it, showing the communicator bracelet around his wrist, "and if I do then someone always knows where I am. And my guys can always find me."

Mamoru puts his hands in his trouser pockets now instead of his jacket pockets, and he's grinning again, and he says, "And I'm a little better at defending myself than I thought I would be. We'll see how things go."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
It was.... likely startling. To have the door suddenly flung open and see someone come running into the room.

Likely even more when they felt the heat, her flames. Perhaps their lives flashed before their eyes. Both of the people here had reasons to have earned her ire. Both had caused her problems. Both had hurt her.

Both she had absolutely NO idea about and was absolutely clueless, so in that regards they were in the clear.

But it likely wasn't comforting to turn to the door to see Sunbreaker racing towards them. But, fortunately(or unfortunately), she reached out and snagged Setsuna's arm. "Yeet. I mean, yoink!"

The spell was triggered and the two were... gone.

A moment later, Setsuna and Sunbreaker would appear on... Mount Asama?! Out of cellphone range. There was a little black tower, though it was lightly smoking, the gem shattered and pieces of it blown out. But that likely wasn't what would catch Setsuna's gaze the most. Two things. No, three.

First, Sunbreaker had collapsed once they arrived, falling to her knees, covered in sweat and panting from exertion, hands on the ground, shaking. Whatever she just did apparently beat the crud out of her. "H-help... h-him. It... w-won't... won't... l-last long..."

... Actually, it might be oddly familiar to Setsuna. She'd seen Sunbreaker like this, once. During an ambush. Collapsed, hurt. Neptune and Uranus hadn't done it this time, though. Sunbreaker had exhausted herself. In order... to kidnap her? Why?

The second? Time was stopped... in a very, very, verrrrry specific area. Just a bit away from them. There were little pieces of what looked like glass, a few tiny shards. And something was contained in a rapidly shrinking bubble of... time stop. Strange time magic. It'd feel... different than the stuff she was used to.

Third, what was IN the time stop. A person. On their back. Clutching their torso. Where fragments of the black tower were embedded. An explosion? They looked mundane, though. No henshin. Just shock.

"W-what do you n-need?" Sunbreaker asked. "T-triage... ki... kit... there..." Sunbreaker motioned to where a strange burlap sack was. Inside were... certainly medical tools. Things she wouldn't recognize. But tools. "T-the... the triage... t-the stop won't last more than a f-few minutes. T-tell me w-what else you need b-before it g-goes out. Hurry!" Sunbreaker ordered.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
As Sunbreaker bursts into the Infirmary, Nurse Meiou blinks in surprise...at least partly because, rather than blowing the door off it's hinges as if this was an incipient attack, she instead slams the door open like an adolescent in far too much of a hurry.

The latter of which had the benefit of being what was actually going on.

And that moment of surprise was more than enough for the villain to grab the Nurse and magically yeet...I mean yoink the two of them...somewhere else.

A quick look around at the rather...rocky area is momentarily confusing.

Before she even fully consciously processes it, triage reflexes have started her moving towards the downed person, and she drops carefully to her knees just outside the bubble of altered time.

A hand is raised up as if she were going to try to reach into the the time stop...but after a second, it's obvious she's...apparently judging the remaining area and getting a feel for the rate of collapse.

Nodding slightly to herself, the Nurse looks over towards where the 'triage kit' is and starts to speak aloud as she searches through the kit for what she needs...and it's apparent after a moment that she's vocalizing primarily for SUNBREAKER'S benefit.

Because otherwise enemy or not, not only has Nurse Meiou's liege begged mercy for Sunbreaker...the young woman in question is apparently actually trying to secure the welfare of the poor soul before her...and has declared she wants to help.

Blame can come later.

Recriminations can come later.

Retribution can come later.

Right now, there's someone who is a very short time from needing medical assistance to survive, "...primary injury appears to be some level of impalement to the torso, further examination not possible until emergency aid measures collapse shortly. Will at minimum need needle, suture thread, bandages, disinfectant, and possibly compatible blood or blood substitute depending on loss levels. Ideally a scalpel and forceps or other similar instruments will be helpful."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a small nod, waving to the kit. "Blood... substitute. Where do I get that?" She glanced towards the person. The field wasn't going to last much longer. Everything else was in the kit. Well... most of it. Not a scalpel and forceps. But whereever the blood was, well... she'd find it. "How long until you need it?"

She sounded just a little panicked herself. "They're so STUPID! I told them not to touch it, I TOLD THEM!" Sunbreaker yelled. And it was clear.

The villain was panicked. She was utterly terrified... That this person was going to die. Every second the field was getting smaller and smaller.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou reaches up once more and puts her hand ever so close to the interface between normal and stopped time, "...by my estimate of how fast this is shrinking, it's got somewhere between two and three minutes left."

She looks critically at what's there...and then sighs internally.

She SHOULD be arguing for Sunbreaker to take them all back to an actual medical facility...but with how wiped out the villain seems to be right now from the transports she's done?

That's either something that's not possible or very very likely to go horribly horribly wrong depending on what kind of teleport she uses.

The Nurse then frowns, "If your're mass-limited at the moment due to power..."

She shakes her head, "We'll have to do it here. If you can manage a trip to grab blood, back at the infirmary there's a small closet off to the back left corner of the room as you come in the door from the hall. It's unlocked, and inside there are some refrigerated units with bags of blood. There are three bags labeled AB fairly clearly. Grab those and the tubing with the needle on the end on the shelf next to it."

Sensing that Sunbreaker is starting to panic, Nurse Meiou keeps speaking calmly and matter-of-factly, "While speed would be appreciated, don't panic. From what I can see, this is going to be tough, but if this collapses early, I should be able to keep blood loss to a minimum. You'll have time."

Mainly because, while she's unsure of how this was specifically accomplished given that the magics are foreign...the passage of Time *IS* her domain. She can put her finger on that scale enough to stretch out how much time they've got by at least a short while.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker nodded. "Y-yeah. I can... I can do it. I-I don't need to like... keep someone safe during it, so it'll be... it'll be fine. Just... just keep them safe. Three bags labeled AB, tubing, needle, gotcha. Where would forceps and scalpel be for that?" she asked. Once she had that information... Deep breath. Calming. Calm down. Readying herself... then she was gone.

Unfortunately, the timer DID close early... not because it shrunk faster, but because it collapsed as soon as it touched the person within.

Who was now shrieking, clutching themselves, panicked as well.

About three seconds later, Sunbreaker appeared, dropping next to Setsuna... placing the things down, before a dark aura surrounded the poor, panicking victim and held his hands down. "It's going to be okay. She's a doctor. She knows what she's doing."

Ah. Gotta love magic. WOO!

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou smiles at Sunbreaker as she's calming down...especially since she's apparently gotten together enough to think of other missing things, "There are some small packages near that with the sterilized and packaged scalpels and forceps I use to restock my trauma kits after I run them through the autoclave. They'll be on a shelf near the tubing."

Once Sunbreaker is gone...she COULD try to get in touch with people...but no.

She's going to very much be busy in the next short while and someone's life is on the line.

Thus, she looks at what she has available...and as the saying goes, needs must when the devil drives.

Thus, she reaches up to her shoulder and, with a quick tug, rips off the sleeve of her labcoat...then tears said sleeve open along the seam so she can lay it on the ground nearby, then she does her best to arrange what tools she has as best she can.

Sunbreaker's return a few moments later is just in time...and the nurse begins a much more close examination, "I don't know if you have any method to do so without causing further trauma...but if possible, something to dull pain would help them."

She shakes her head, "...times like this, I really wish they'd let me have some of the stronger painkillers..."

And then she's examining the wound more closely...checking to see how big the impaling shard is so she has an idea what organs, if any, are possibly damaged...or if she's lucky and the only real danger is from massive loss of blood when this thing comes out.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker shook her head. "I-I'm afraid not. I wasn't on the medical tracks, the only ones I know are a few spells to hasten healing, but nothing for pain nullification. It seemed like a waste of energy at the time. Stupid, I know," Sunbreaker said, kicking herself.

So what if she hadn't wanted to be a medic? She should have learned some of everything! Ugh. So STUPID! Stupid! Ugh! And now this person was in trouble and hurt and GAHHH!

Fortunately, the wounds weren't as bad as they seemed. While there was going to be a lot of blood loss, they'd managed to not be too deep and not actually penetrate any organs. Close, though. Likely hurt a lot, though.

"It's going to be okay," Sunbreaker said in as soothing voice as she could. "You're going to be okay, I promise. You're not going to die. Nobody is going to hurt you, I promise. I promise. You're okay. You're going to be okay. I won't let you die."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou sighs, "The sad thing about Wisdom is that one never acquires it until AFTER they need it."

She takes a deep breath, the goes on in as even and calm a voice as she can, "Alright, then, young miss. I need you to focus on my voice. I know that you're in a lot of pain right now, but I'm a medical professional and I'm going to get you taken care of. Some of what's coming is going to likely hurt quite a bit, but that will pass. You'll get through this. As a species, we're specifically adapted to be able to handle this kind of thing. So just listen to me and do your best to stay calm."

As she says this, she gets her forceps ready along with her scalpel and gauze, "Alright...now I'm about to remove this main piece here...you'll likely experience some...discomfort. On three. One, two, THREE."

And indeed on three, she tugs the piece of shrapnel free and starts inspecting the wound for any remaining debris...which she does her best to quickly remove with said forceps, stanching the bleeding with gauze as needed.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker shrugged in response. She didn't have it in her right now to argue with the woman trying to save her colleagues life. Even if she didn't agree. She needed to learn. Needed to focus. Needed--

"Cookie!" Sunbreaker said. "In the triage kit. There, pink cookie. It's got kirakirafantastica magic in it, I can't touch it. but the cookie, it'll dampen the pain. It's not the best cookie, but it's easier to eat and digest without causing relapses or vomiting," Sunbreaker said.

... Well... okay. The woman, meanwhile, was practically hyperventilating.... and shrieked when the pieces were pulled out. OW!

But she was still alive, so there was that. And there was a lot of blood... But Sunbreaker, at least, could help with that. Would hold gauze if needed. "It's going to be okay. Just next time I say don't touch something, don't touch it." Yup, totally not her fault. She didn't feel guilty or anything. Nope.

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou blinks at the whole 'cookie' thing...but then internally shrugs. She's used magical healing candies before, after all."

She indicates for Sunbreaker to take over holding gauze in lace, then she gives a quick sort through the bag to find of the cookies and puts it in the young woman's mouth, "Okay, chew and swallow this."

She waits a moment for the patient to comply, then she's taking over gauze again and goes back to checking the wound to make sure no fragments are left behind. Once she's sure she has, she gets out the needle and thread, "...okay, this is going to be rather unpleasant, but once I can get this big wound shut, the smaller ones will be far easier to handle."

And with that said, she gets out her scalpel...and does her best to quickly debride the rest of the wound before she starts stitching it back into place.

On the downside, some tugging is necessary to get the wound properly closed.

On the upside, Nurse Meiou is apparently VERY VERY good at stitching...and afterwards, the wound goes from 'bleeding heavily' to 'will need to change bandages every few hours'

Once the immediate danger is passed, Nurse Meiou leans back a bit from where she's kneeling, "Okay...we're not out of the woods yet, so to speak...but we're past the tricky bit."

She sits up a little straighter, and waggles her fingers and shakes her hands like someone making sure they have proper feeling, "...so what exactly happened here, Miss Sunbreaker?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker let out a soft sigh and almost collapsed when it was over. Her flames were... dim, to say the least. She looked exhausted and, well.... she was. The panic, the running, everything. Multi-teleports. Not easy, even for someone like her.

Of course, when she was called out she urked. "It wasn't my fault!" she said defensively, sitting up and glowering at her. "I-I told her not to touch it! It was very tempermental, the amount of magic filtering through it was just in the testing phase! The only reason I even brought her was because I needed someone without dark energy to handle the kirakirafantastica bits! But then she decided to touch the gem after I SPECIFICALLY told her not to and..." Then she trailed off.

"... Dang it..." she muttered, looking down the cliffside. How... had they even gotten up here? There wasn't any rope, no rock climbing equipment... Well. at least the teleportation made more sense now.

"... Instead she ruined everything and now, thanks to her idiotic self, I'm out a time bubble. Do you have ANY idea how hard those are to get? No, of course you don't. They aren't FROM your world, so how would you? They're HARD. Literally impossible. And now it's GONE! Stupid! STUPID!" Sunbreaker yelled at the woman.

Who was, frankly, just resting now. Quietly. That... was a hell of a cookie.

"... She's going to be alright, right? I... don't think I'm going to be able to get her off here tonight. I'm exhausted after all of... that."

"... Sorry. For grabbing you. Like that. I needed someone magic and... normally... the school is off limits. But... this wasn't... there wasn't another choice," Sunbreaker muttered before moving her arms up, under her knees, and hugged them to herself.

"... I'll get you back there tomorrow. Jsut... tell them I kidnapped you for like... some... dark energy thing. They'll believe that."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou snorts and shakes her head, "...oh, I wouldn't say *IMPOSSIBLE*. Very, very hard, yes. Impossible? No."

After a moment, however, she nods and concedes, "...though it's quite likely that 'impossible with current resources' is an accurate statement."

Since the anesthetic has seemingly kicked in, the nurse gives the patient a gentle pat, then starts picking over the smaller shrapnel fragments and removing them, "...so is there any particular reason you had to do this experiment..."

She straightens up and looks around once more, then goes back to work, "...on what I ASSUME is Mount Asama, given that's a caldera over there and we're not on Mount Fuji..."

Shrapnel removal is a bit of a process...fortunately enough, it's one that Nurse Meiou got some extra practice in quite recently, "...and I can imagine you'd be a bit tapped down...you teleported about 130-ish kilometers at least four times within an hour, at least once carrying someone about half again your mass."

A few more minutes are spent patching up the last little bits, "...so is this 'kirakirafantastica' where you're from originally?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a snort. "Impossible here. Kirakirafantastica is a world of magic. This world? Is like... nothing in comparison. Our sovereign raises the sun and moon. Literally. So when I say 'impossible', I mean 'impossible', human," Sunbreaker said, obviously a little annoyed at being corrected.

"... Maybe if I was back home. And had like a decade. And... because... I had to. It's to test if this new tower will work. Mixing kirakirafantastica magic with the dark energy magic I've been using. It's... volatile. But I had to see if I could. This leyline was... out of the way. No sparkle skirts would show up here. But hauling the stuff is just..."

Sunbreaker nudged one of the pieces of glass with her toe. "Broken, now. Priceless artifacts from home and I had to waste them on a stupid monkey that couldn't even listen to instructions..."

"... Of course I'm tapped out. If I were anyone else I wouldn't have been ABLE to do those jumps!" Sunbreaker snapped bitterly. "If I were anyone else... she... would have... died..." And her arms tightened around her legs. "But that's why I'm me. I don't... make those kinds of mistakes. I'm strong enough. I'm powerful enough. I'm glorious..." Sunbreaker muttered angrily. Bitterly... just a hint... fearfully.

"Kirakirafantastica is my home, yes. It's the most wonderful, brilliant, breath taking, dazzling place in all the dimensions. Without a single stupid human to wreck it. Unicorns, dragons, hydras, parasprites, griffons... it's a world of real, true, proper magic..."

Sunbreaker sighed and glanced over to her. "So... what's your deal? Like... I know you have a daughter or little sister or something... but I thought adults like... stopped knowing about magic? Is it because you're at that school? Or is it more like... are you a dark energy user?"

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou looks over the patient and at the various bits of discarded gauze, then, figuring they've probably lost about a pint of blood, absently begins setting up to run an IV, "Oh, you might be surprised. I know of at least two beings with the power to stop time innately...and at least one artifact that used to exist that could manipulate it as well."

A quick stick to the back of the hand and some tape later, and she's holding the bag elevated to let it drip, "Granted, from what you're saying, it sounds like your original home is rather more a place with exceedingly high levels of background magic..."

She then gives a bit of a chuckle, "Oh, the Veil is very much a thing...but as you've obviously noted, there are a few limited exceptions to that rule. And, of course, having a medic on hand in a place like that who understands that magic is real and what it can do? Kind of a necessity."

The snap about 'human' gets an arched eyebrow...but by this point, Sunbreaker being a polymorphed creture is far from the most surprising thing she's had to deal with.

The bitter note, however, has her frowning...there's something there.

She sighs inwardly, then shakes her head...but not only has her sovereign advocated for compassion...but she's very much in 'Nurse' mode right now...which just magnifies the impulse to try to heal, "So if it's so great there, why bother coming here?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker blinked a few times, her mouth falling open and just staring at Setsuna. "They can... no. You're just messing with me. That's not possible. Even at my most powerful I couldn't..." She shook her head. "I mean, not without... ugh. Liar..."

It seemed she refused to believe there were things she just... couldn't do.

"It did. Way more magic than here. People didn't forget it. Our ruler was the Sovereign, an alicorn who was radiant, breathtaking, powerful... glorious... and selfish..."

"Because there's always someone better than you, nurse. Everyone has a role in their life they must play, everyone has a spot... a place they belong. But.... when someone feels you threaten theirs... apparently they'll do anything they can to protect it. I was banished for being a monster. Rawr. Big scary Sunbreaker. Doesn't understand anything like... kindness. Or generosity. or laughter. Because I'm the kind of person who goes around and does big, terrible things and hurts people and gets her own minions hurt because she forgot to put up a stupid simple barrier. Why did I ever think they'd show restraint for Twenty minutes? No, apparently I need to do everything. Can't trust anyone or they'll get themselves killed and then suddenly I'm the bad guy again."

"... I hate your world. It's stupid. And it's dumb. And you people are all... weird... and... stupid. And two legs are stupid. Why do you have two legs and two hands and yet no magic? Dragons have hands too but they can fly and breathe fire."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
The Nurse keeps checking the bag every few minutes, watching for it to get empty, "Oh, I'm not lying. Granted, in both cases, it's something special to them."

A shrug, "They can't do fire or healing or what have you, though. So there's that."

She listens to Sunbreaker's rant...and internally she sighs, "...you're not a monster. And anyone who told you you are was flat wrong."

She waves a hand at the unconscious woman, "...a monster would have let this young woman die instead of going to great personal lengths to make sure that didn't happen."

She nods towards Sunbreaker, "...a monster wouldn't be worried about the consequences of their actions."

Seeing the blood bag is more or less empty, she pulls the needle and starts cleaning up a little, "...who told you you were a monster?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker sighed and gave a small nod. "Ah. Specialty's. We had... that. A kind of... sign that appeared on our flanks. Our destinies. Most... can only do magic of their specialties. Some of us, though, were special. Like me. Our specialties were magic itself. We could do anything. Everything."

"... Almost anything..." Sunbreaker muttered.

"Don't try and act like I did anything special with this. She wouldn't be here if I hadn't made her do this job for me. If she'd been doing this herself? I would have left her to die. But... she came with me. So she became my responsibility. It's not... kindness or care."

"... A ruler has to take care of their subjects. If I can't even do something like that... then everything I've done has been meaningless. I don't care about the consequences of my actions... I'm just... not going to let other people die for them. I'm not like the sparkle skirts. I think taking a life is something you just... don't do. Especially not in somebody else's world."

She tightened her arms around her legs. "Does it really matter? I am. I'm the monster. Sunbreaker. I'm the one who puts little sparkle skirts in the hospital because they won't stay down. I'm the one who beats stupid moon up because she won't stop fighting me. I'm the one who has all the little sparkly murder squads searching to end her. Stupid sailor murder legs and waterboarding... stupid axe girl... If you don't think I'm a monster... you really don't have any idea who I am. Which... fine. I guess makes sense. The burns you've probably had to treat on them? Those were probably mine. And no, I'm not sorry. They got in my way, I keep telling them to stop, and they keep doing it anyway. So they get hurt."

"... They're all monsters too, though. Murderous... violent... hypocrites. Liars... greedy. If I wanted to kill some of them, they'd be dead. I'm the only competent mage in their entire forces yet they act like I'm some out of control animal..."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou shrugs, "Can you blame them for not stopping? You're doing things that hurt people, and they're Guardians. Just like a good sovereign has to take care of her subjects, a Guardian worth the name should protect their charges."

She looks up at the sky, "How long did you say it was going to be before you could teleport us all back? I get that it'll be a while...I'm just noting that if it's going to be more than a little while, I'm going to need you to come over here closer to the two of us. While I'm in good enough condition to deal with the temperature, she isn't...and even just sitting passive like you are, you're by far the warmest thing in the area."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker glanced up and then sighed. "Tomorrow... morning. Crud. There's... shelter. I should be able to... ugh. One second. Adajo. ADAJO!"

A moment later a shadowy eel creature came out from the gem on her shoulder. "Get to it. Don't give me that look."

The eel hissed at her, but then flew off. It soon returned, hauling a bag. It dropped the bag of supplies on the ground, then flew into it. Beginning to magical setup the tents and such.

Meanwhile, Sunbreaker moved a little closer. "... Just... let me know if you or her are going to get too cold. I can duskport to get some things if I have to, that's a lot easier than teleporting. But, frankly, I'd rather not leave the two of you up here alone for long. The last thing I need is another sparkle skirt hit squad coming at me because I gave a nurse hypothermia."

She then looked up at her. "... I know it's probably meaningless... but don't tell anyone about this. They probably won't believe you anyway. But even if they did, they'll probably just get mad at you for helping me. You never know with them. They're so self righteous and hypocritical, you never know what'll set the lot of them off."

She then took a slow breath and the flames on her turned... golden. "And there. Shouldn't burn you now, at least."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou shakes her head, "Don't worry about me."

She then sighs, "...and don't worry about anyone getting too mad about this, either. For one, you did what you could to put things right...for another...well, your co-workers just recently tried to set it up so that they could drag the city into the Dusk Zone at will."

She looks around for a moment, and brushes a few of the fragments a bit further away, "...though one DOES wonder why you're even bothering to research Dark Energy at all."

A pause and she taps her chin, "...well...without laying down some seriously high-grade wards first. The deleterious effects of Dark Energy on sentient biology and it's known mind-altering effects are pretty well documented."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a shrug. "I don't care if they get mad at me. I don't like them anyway. I don't need any of them. I don't know the inner workings of your social hierarchies, if you lot turn on each other over something dumb like this... if that happens, I want it to be a plot, not... this."

However, the comment on dragging parts of the city into the dusk zone made her open her mouth, then pause. Then just shake her head. "That sounds ridiculous. That would kill so many people..."

"As for why I'm researching it... because I don't have a lot of choice. I tried using other magic, but dark energy is the only magic that works for me. You lot might have your fancy sparkles and miracles and stupid magic. But some of us? We don't. I don't have access to my magic or anything but dark energy."

"... And... I know it affects me. I know all about the effects... I... know..."

"... It hurts. It hurts so much. But... that's... fine. That's what makes me strong. I wouldn't... be worthy of my destiny if I let... if I wasn't willing to endure suffering."

"... I'm stronger. Than anyone else. Better than everyone else. I'll be... I'll be better..."

She rested her face on her knees. The tent, at least, was well insulated as it went up around them. It'd keep them warm. With her as a fire. She moved a little closer. "I should be able to stay henshined through the night so long as I don't sleep. It may be cold but I'm on fire."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou snorts, "Of course it would have killed a lot of people. They didn't care. Which isn't an uncommon result for people who have gotten overexposed to Dark Energy."

She nods over to where the shards of the tower got to, "...I can understand the impulse to research stuff...but when you're dealing with something as tempramental as that...you need to take a lot of safety precautions."

She then absently checks on her patient, who by this point seems to have lapsed into sleep but otherwise seems to be doing fairly well, "...possible case in point...if she's an employee at Obsidian, it's possible she's had enough low-level exposure it's affected her ability to think rationally."

As Sunbreaker scoots closer, Nurse Meiou shifts as well, moving to make room closer to her and the patient.

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker nodded. "Yeah. Dark energy is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. You have to have rules. Rules that you never, ever break. Rules that you keep, that you never bend. It's the only way to ensure I stay worthy..." Sunbreaker muttered. Her eyes focused on the patient.

"... I learn best by getting my hooves into the magic. Even if there were books to study... they wouldn't be enough for me... but... she's..."

"... If she is, then I messed up. I won't make a mistake again. I'll learn. I'll be... better. This won't. Happen. Again. I won't let it..."

"... Get some sleep, Meiou-san. I'll... keep an eye on her. Wake you if she needs anything. Just... get some rest. Tomorrow I should be able to get both of you out of here."

"... Thanks... for saving them."

Setsuna Meiou has posed:
Nurse Meiou stares at Sunbreaker for a few minutes, then sighs and reaches over to pat the younger woman on the shoulder comfortingly before settling herself in seiza, pressing her knuckles and thumbs together and obviously relaxing into a meditative state.

And throughout the night, about once an hour (in actuality, PRECISELY once per hour) the Nurse will crack her eyes, reach over and run a quick check on the patient's vitals...then once she's assured herself all is more or less normal, she'll settle down and go back to meditating...apparently it's some kind of old Nurse's trick or something.
