Professor Tomoe paced around the laboratory where chairs had been hastily scooted over from desks. In the chairs sat Takashi Agera, Kaolinite, Tellun, Viluy, Eudial, and Mimette.
"I believe you all know the circumstances we are meeting under." the Professor began. Takashi knew. He had been told by Hotaru, but even if he hadn't, well... even before the meeting one of the remaining Witches had put up a sign that changed the logo on the door from Witches 5 to Witches 4. Not a lot of love lost or time spent mourning their colleague.
"Yesterday, while pursuing our glorious purpose to Change The World..." Tomoe said, balling his hand up into a fist dramatically and raising it to the sky "... Cyprine was... destroyed by none other than our hated enemy... Sailor Moon, the Sailor Senshi, and the other magical girls." He looked down at the floor, for a moment of silence, before dramatically thrusting his hands to the air again. "But we will not allow them to stop our great and important work. The best way we can honor her legacy is to achieve our goals, goals that Cyprine shared with us."
"Umm... yeah, good speech." Tellun said. "But Cyprine was the strongest of the Witches. She was basically unbeatable in combat. She was a master. She was level 999, and there were two of her! That the spark-I mean Magical Girls destroyed her so easily..." she said, twiddling her thumbs nervously.
"Yes, I think that for a little bit, while we figure out what happened, you girls should avoid direct confrontations." Kaolinite said. Takashi looked at her. "Agera-san, you have more experience with battling and surviving the magical girls. You'll continue to be our choice for field work... but watch yourself." she said, in a rare moment of seeming concern. "In the meantime, Tellun, you are now the Senior Member of the Witches 5."
"Witches Four." Mimette said. "Don't worry, we already changed the sign."
"Actually, it's still Witches 5." Professor Tomoe said.
"Since we have an open space at that level, We've made the decision to elevate Takashi Agera's role. On that note he will no longer report to you, Mimette, but like the rest of the Witches 5, will report to me." Kaolinite explained.
Takashi looked pleased as punch, and the other girls were glaring at him.
"He can't! One, he's a dude. Two, we already changed the sign. Three, we already divided up her stuff and lab space!" Eudial said, counting the reasons off on her fingers.
"Oh come now Eudial, it's 2023." Professor Tomoe said, tilting his head. "And besides, Witches 4 Warlocks 1 doesn't really... flow very well. Additionally, he brings a different skillset to the group. You can all learn from each other, it'll help your professional development."
"It's no worry about the lab space, I'd like to keep my current space anyways." Takashi added. "So there's really not a problem. The sign is just taped up on the door anyways, you can pull it off." Takashi suggested.
"I worked very hard on that sign!" Mimette protested, whining.
