What Makes You Smile
Date of Scene: 04 August 2023
Location: FaM-Mart
Synopsis: Norie runs into Mie at the FaM-Mart. A Discussion ensues!
Cast of Characters: Norie Okana, Mie Kitamura

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana was told to 'get out of the house, young lady' and 'you're not spending your entire summer break locked in your room' and firstly, Why not!? >:c and secondly, she took the petty cash from poor mister piggy and decided to go fill up her snack drawer. It was emptying faster than usual in recent days for secretive reasons and it's because sugar made things bearable.

And thusly, in the FaM-Mart, Norie is here in the afternoon, shoving boxes of candy of various types into a small little basket and cramming it full. Soon, she's going to need to do a balancing act to hold more in it. In the basket, is also a mix of salty snacks, mostly, chips of some corn puff-like variety.

She does sigh a little loudly, and miserably as she sulks a moment in the corner of the store in front of a display of some sort of strange flavored gummy candy, as she stares up at the display finally.

"Lovely." she says in a manner where it's hard to determine if it's disgust or curiosity crossing her mind, her tone so neutrally bland and monotone almost.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
Mie has decided that she misses school. Yes. She misses school. Not because she misses taking classes or hanging out with the other students, but because it got her out of the damned Bad End Kingdom castle where all the other Bad End commanders live. There's only so much of Wolfrun's whining, Akaoni's stupidity, and God knows whatever invention Majorina is cooking up. No, she needs to just get *out*.

She's got a human apartment in order to maintain her guise of being one, but it's mostly empty, especially the kitchen. But Mie hungers. And when a dragon hungers she must be fed. So like any good dragon, she pops on down to the FaM-Mart.

She's got a basket of a random assortment of items. It's like she went through each aisle and just plopped whatever caught her fancy into the basket without rhyme or reason. Which is exactly what she did.

She reaches the gummy candy display and Norie's comment catches her attention. "I don't see how this candy is pretty," she says. "It's just gummies." She leans a bit closer and peers. "What is a durian?"

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana blinks a little and looks at Mie. "It's. A fruit. That's kinda disgusting smelling, but tastes good. Supposedly. I've never tried one. I bet the gummies don't smell bad." she says as she passes by the display. "I bet they don't taste like the real fruit though. I bet it's some fake artificial stuff." she says as she makes a face and stuffs some bags of chips onto the boxes of candy in her basket. She shifts a bit in place as she eyes you.

"Are you trying to make a meal here? What are you getting?" she asks curiously.

"Have you tried the sandwiches?" she asks softly. "They're not bad. I really ... um..." she blinks a little "Um.. I guess. I like... the egg salad?" she asks.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
Mie peers suspiciously at the gummimes, before taking a bag and putting it in with the rest of the other items. Most of it seems to be snack food, but there's a couple of bento boxes there, and a few packages of raw meat.

"I'm getting food that seems tasty, or at least the stuff that intrigues me," she explains. "I wish to know what this durian gummy candy tastes like, so I shall buy it." She looks at her basket of assorted items. "I don't know how to cook like a hu--" she stops herself before she says 'human.' "Like a chef." Perfect recovery. She'll never notice.

"I have tried several but not the egg salad," she says. "When I looked at it, it didn't seem to have any eggs nor salad within it. Just some yellow paste."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana seems perturbed by something, gently shifting in one place as she hems and maws a little. "It's... an acquired taste." she admits. "It's eggs, cut up. In mayonnaise and mixed together with mustard and sometimes some pickle or relish. It's quite good, act...actually. I think." she says quietly. "At least...it used to be." she trails off a little, shifting in one place.

"S..sorry I shouldn't speak so strangely. It's been. uhm..."

"Not your problem um..." she gently shifts into her basket and pulls out a bar of chocolate. It has those crunchy puffed rice pieces in it. "Get one of these. They're um."

"C..Crunchy?" she almost asks.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
"Hrm," Mie hums thoughtfully. "I like eggs, so I shall try this." She goes back over to where the sandwiches are and grabs herself an egg salad sandwich. When she returns she says, "I have acquired one, and will judge its taste tonight."

Her attention is brought to the crunchy chocolate. "Well," she says. "I do like chocolate, and I do like crunchy things. I think I shall try this one, too."

She stands after grabbing the chocolate and peers down at the younger student. She's been told to try to establish rapport with humans to better fit in so she gives it her best. "I've been told that I speak strangely myself. Now we have something in common, and thus have established rapport." There. Nailed it!

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana shifts uncomfortably. "I don't...speak strangely. It's. difficult. Okay?" she says quietly. She looks down. "I haven't really been feeling myself..." she says. She looks up. "Right." she bows.

"I am. N-norie Okana. I go to Radiant Heart Academy. And. You are...?" she asks quietly, as the candy bar is taken. She can always get more candy bars. She shifts a bit, monotone-ish again.

"Do you. uh. Uhm. What makes. you smile?" she asks curiously.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
"I see," Mie says, blinking in confusion. Clearly she doesn't see. "Well. Who have you been feeling as, then, if you don't feel yourself?"

When she's bowed to and been introduced she looks a little surprised. "Ah! Yes." She pulls herself up to her full height. "I am Mie Kitamura, grade 8 at Radiant Heart Academy."

"What makes me smile? Well, there's always meat." But then she gets what could only be called an evil gleam in her eye and she reaches out and grabs the air with a fist, "And there's always seeing your enemies be destroyed before you and hearing their lamentations of despair! Bahahahahaha!" She manages to catch herself mid-maniacal laughter and coughs, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment, as she fidgets with her dress, smoothing it out. "Ahem. And chocolate."

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana blinks a little. Meat. Seeing your enemies destroyed before you. She head tilts a little.

'I..I don't think this girl is normal...' she asks mentally to herself.

'No, she isn't' replies the voice inside her head. She twitches a little as this happens and she has to catch her herself from making a statement she'll regret. She huffs. "Are you. Okay?" she finally asks. No concern in her monotone.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
"Yes. Sorry. I don't know what came over me." Mie fidgets with her dress again, suddenly uncomfortable. Why does she care what this human thinks? Why does it matter? Her brows furrow and her mouth purses into a moue of confusion as she tries to reason out an answer.

She does come up with an explanation, though. "Sorry. It was a joke. I see now it was in poor taste." That should work.

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana blinks. "If you found something funny to laugh. That's...that's good. RIght?" she asks softly. "I haven't.. felt like laughing at my usual things for a while. It's. I find... things I really shouldn't find funny...funny... and.." she shifts again. "Look um. Sorry."

She gently puts another candy bar into her basket. Her basket is overflowing but carefully packed as not to tip.

"Is that the. Kind of thing you find funny? Jokes. Like that?" she asks.

"Can you. Try to tell me another?..." she asks.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
Mie narrows her eyes at at the strange girl before her. "What kind of things do you find funny?" she asks. "Not that I'm interested, of course. It would merely help coming up with another joke since you didn't find my... ah... other joke to be all that funny."

She racks what little brains she has to try to come up with a joke. "Why couldn't the dragon eat her birthday cake?" she asks. "Because she destroyed it while trying to blow out the candles!" She gives Norie a hopeful grin.

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana just blanky stares at the joke and shrugs a little. "S..sorry that doesn't...really tickle my funny bone it's..."

"I don't really want to tell you. You'll think something is wrong with me honestly. But. Um. Stuff like. People. having bad things happen to them? Like uhm..." she thinks back to that sad movie she watched the other day and looks away. "..like people falling down and stuff." she says bluntly. It's a lie, but she shifts a little.

"And even then I wouldn't even call it a laugh.." she says quietly.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
"Is it more of an evil cackle?" asks Mie. "Or more like... Ohohohohoho!" It sounds like she's had a lot of practice on that last one. "Besides. People falling down is funny. Well. Depends on why they fell down in the first place, I suppose. Like... a knight tripping over his own armor. Now that's funny!"

Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana shifts a bit. "More of a chuckle, I would say." she says. "Like...um..."

"Heh..." that's the best she can manage , a small chuckle.

She shifts. "S-sorry." she says softly. She blinks a little knights? "Knights?" she asks softly. "Like um. Armored Knights?" she asks curiously. "Why... knights?" she asks. "Do you like. Period epics?" she asks.

Mie Kitamura has posed:
Mie nods giving Norie's chuckle serious consideration. "I see..." she says. "Well, unfortunately, I'm not so good on the humor front myself. As you can tell."

Her eyes light up when Norie asks for clarification on the knights. "Yes! Exactly! The armored knights in period pieces. They're all so high and might with, 'Oh, I'll protect the kingdom from you,' and 'I'll just come in to your lair while you're sleeping and slay you just because you stole a princess!' Knights are dumb."

Norie Okana has posed:
Noire Okana shifts. "I used to like. Romantic vampire stories. But. I don't, Like them much anymore." she says quietly. She huhs and head tilts. "Period pieces are only incidental to vampire stories though... if only because so many of them start in a different old era, you know?" she says quietly.

"I should maybe. Go." she says quietly.

"It was nice meeting you Kitamura-san." she says in monotone that suggests the 'nice' was only incidental.

She walks to the back of the store and---

She isn't around the next corner when she should be! How'd she'd do that disappearing trick!?

Wait did she just steal a bunch of stuff? Y-yes. Don't tell anyone!?
