Firefly's first villaining
Date of Scene: 06 July 2023
Location: Botanical Gardens
Synopsis: Firefly has her FIRST EVER MISSION! It goes... well? Ish? She got to meet sailor V! That was cool!
Cast of Characters: Minako Aino, Hotaru Tomoe

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly was ready! Okay, no she wasn't. BUT! Obsidian didn't tend to care about that. She had a device, they'd given her a rent-a-youma thing to make a youma, because she certainly couldn't make her own. Then they'd sent her off to the botanical gardens to try and steal some energy. So she appeared, using one of the dusk-portals made by one of her colleagues, flying over the gardens. She took a slow, deep breath.

"Surrender now, give your energy to us so we may use it to create a better world!" she yelled... in her head.

In reality, Firefly kind of squeaked and mumbled some sounds and nobody even noticed the weird girl flying high above. Come on. She could do better. She HAD to do better. She whimpered before...

<Announcement, prepare to have your energy taken for efficient asset redistribution. Thank you.> Her device announced. THAT voice, however, sounded like something from a horror movie and got a LOT of eyes...

Moments before she threw down the small black orb she'd been given. It hit one of the trees. The tree seemed to crack and wither, before growing a great mouth and plant tendrils spread out through the ground, cracking the cement and sending waves of dark energy out...

The civilians in the area began to yell, then collapse... While Firefly just watched, nervously chewing on her lower lip. She... wasn't... entirely sure about this. They said it was only taking SOME energy... but... what if... the damage lasted a long time? Or... really hurt them? What then? What if she...

She shook her head and focused. Right. Gather the energy, then leave. She had a job to do. It was all to help daddy's work. She COULD do this.

Minako Aino has posed:
What is it with trees and plants lately?

At least Firefly had -some- luck, Minako Aino wasn't in the middle of the crowd as she mumbled and then 'redistributed' energy. Unfortunately that luck was very limited and it showed itself depleted quite fast as the screaming and panic had people hastly fleeing and screaming.

Minako, who herself was currently laying in the park 'totally studying' the unopened book beside her as she lounged on a picnic blanket with a certain white feline beside her.

Mid-scolding, the pair were both suddenly silent as the evidence of Youma-induced panic broke out and she stood, a sigh from the blonde as she was already running to duck out of sight.

Firefly probably thought things were going well...right up until the flare of light revealed an unfortunately prompt arrival of a heroine!

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly sighed, looking around at the collapsing people. How much energy was she supposed to absorb? How much was 'right'. What if she absorbed too much? She wished they'd given her a meter or SOMETHING to work with. If only--

Then, suddenly, there was a flash. She looked over and almost squeaked. Oh no. it was one of those other girls! She shouldn't--

No. NO! She had to do this. For daddy. IT was the right thing. Right? The wrong thing, for the right reasons. She just had to do her part. Deep, slow breathes. She COULD do this.

"Oh...ho... ho ho... um... ho!" she said, trying to do a proper villainous laugh she'd heard one of the other members of Obsidian make. And failing terribly. Even her plant youma had paused and stared at her. Even though it didn't have ears OR eyes. "Who, ummm, do you think you are? Do you think you can, uhhh, stop me? The... err... Firefly? Magical Girl Firefly? Uhhhhh. the... flying... fireball... of... ummm... d-draining?" she tried.

... "I don't actually know your name, I'm sorry. Could you introduce yourself before we start or uhhhh... Should... I just... oh. Wait. OH! A-aren't you that girl from the games? Ummm... Sailor... V? I want to say? Is it actually pronounced V?"

Minako Aino has posed:
"Guardian of Justice, Sailor V!" the masked blonde announces herself only to blink at the somewhat bumbling exchange and tilt her head. "Magical Girl Firefly? Like the bug with the glowy butt?" she questions. That's weird...said the reincarnated champion bodyguard warrior who was currently a teenager.

Right! Focus!

"Vee! It's not Sailor Vvvv!" she announces, already liftinf her hand to point at the tree creature.

More focus Minako!

"It's time to turn your evil tree to matchsticks!"

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly nodded. "Y-yeah! Um, like the souls passing on through the world, the gentle glow at night. They're really pretty and I've always liked them, so I thought they'd make a cute name." That and, well... She was named after them, so it was kind of her codename in Obsidian.

"Right, Sailor V. Got it! Oh, right. Yes! Matchsticks?! We'll see about that, ummm, because you'll... you're about to MEET your match! Uhhhh... youma! Show her the... sticks...?" she tried, before pointing her glaive at the magical girl.

The youma, at least, seemed more engagy than its creator, lifting a large root and swinging it at her.

Fortunately, for V, she'd learn that this youma wasn't actually that strong. Unfortunately for V, she'd learn that Firefly didn't just have the Youma do all its work alone. She held up her glaive, like a rifle, and started shooting small, little blasts of magic at her. They weren't very powerful at all, but they were at least annoying.

Minako Aino has posed:
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" V might almost sound indignant at the small blasts that impact against her, not enough to really injure the warrior but certainly a niggling pain.

Still, as the Senshi went she was perhaps the most experienced and she wasn't going to let a little pain stop her!

Springing backwards she raised her hand, light coalescing around her fingertip before she let the blast of energy lose, but it wasn't Firefly she was aiming for! Instead the intrepid energy thief tree was about to get its promised punishment!

"Crescent Beam!"

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly had to resist the urge to ask the girl if she was okay. What if she was using too much energy on the blasts? What if she-- NO! No no. She was being careful. She didn't need to feel bad. She--

And then there was a blast of energy. The vine was expertly dodged... only to be blown away a moment later by the blast. Wood cracked and broke, the dark energy flowing into the air, but not defeated yet.

Firefly, however, paused. Then... "HEY! That's cheating! In the games you always use a ray gun! You didn't use your fingers! Wait, is that a new attack? Are... are you inventing a new attack to use against me?" Ohhhhh. She was in the big leagues now! She was... actually kind of excited about this, flying around and even going upside down in her little giddy thought moments. Takashi was going to be so proud!

Meanwhile, below her youma was trying to pull itself back together, vines lifting up to wrap around her from behind, launching out from the roots. Because that was at all how plants worked.

Minako Aino has posed:
More vines, more dodging, but the Vigilante Senshi seemed up to the task. Though the giggling question from Firefly? That was distracting!

"In the games I use a samurai sword too! Do you want to me to do that too?"

She'd say more, but the snares surging her way had her springing backwards again, bringing her hands up to try and unleash another surging beam of light before the Youma can truely restore itself and gain the upper hand.

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly gasped. "Yes! Yes, can you? That'd be really cool! I didn't think you were real! Do you license your own games? Do you code them yourself? Do you--" then eeped, stopping and covering her mouth. "I-I mean, err, that'd, well, I-I mean, errr. I-I... will, ummm, d-defeat you, Sailor V! I ummm..."

She then looked down at her youma...

Right as the last blast from Sailor V exploded it. The dark orb re-materialized from the tree, dropping to the ground from the tree and gently making a little black mist seep out. "Oh. I guess... I won't... defeat you. Ummmm..."

She just kind of hovered there for a moment, staring at the other girl. Meanwhile, around the garden, people were beginning to wake up, dazed and confused.

"I... I think... I'm supposed to umm... go now. Uhhhh... I... I'll get you next time! Sailor V... ummmm..."

She paused before sighing. "It... errr... it was nice to meet you," she said, before bowing politely. And then trying to fly away.

Minako Aino has posed:
"Hey! Wait!" Sailor V's mystique might actually be a little ruined in that moment as the slightly sheepish villain (fangirl?) started her retreat. "Why are you even a villain if-?" she begins only to frown as the girl gets so far away.

She ahould have used the chain rather than questions but...well, there was one thing Mina had learned over her time as a Senshi.

They'd meet again!

Hotaru Tomoe has posed:
Firefly did, actually... pause for a moment when she was told to wait. A lifetime of doing as she was told for most people... she was a good kid. Or tried to be. But she quickly shook her head and then zoomed off!

Going through one of the many doorways obsidian had. But hey, on the upside... she did get a little energy!

A very, very, very tiny amount of energy. Hopefully it would be useful to her daddy...

... It was all for the right reasons, she was sure. It had to be. Her daddy... wouldn't do it otherwise.

Still, there was something odd about seeing Sailor V. Something... weird. Something... she just... felt... sadness when she thought about her. A little fangirling, because she'd never met someone famous before. But deep in her core, she felt... sad. Like she was... It felt like...

The closest she could compare it to... was... like seeing a child with her mother. That... almost longing to be like her. But distant. As if it was just... the echoes. A silent, strange desire...

She tried to shove it away and instead focus on her success! ... Even if it was super minor. Sailor V even made a new attack for her. That had to be impressive. Takashi would be so proud. She wondered how his attempts were going.

Oh, who was she kidding? He was way more impressive than her. He probably did like. A thousand times better.
