Daughter of an Osakan vagrant chef and a Bengali spice artist, Rashmi is absolutely the ray of sunshine in her parents' lives. Though she grew up mostly too stuck in her own head to make real friends, she always had a deep sense of responsibility and justice. One day, when hunting a second-hand bookstore for new fantasy tales, she stumbled across a strange bookmark; a plastic sunburst with a small glass 'gem' in the center. Imagine her surprise when, on her way home, a youma attacked her, and the plastic charm turned out to be a magical space-book. *Her* magical space-book, Nicomachea. With its help, she defeated the youma, and now has to navigate the twin rapids of Being a Good Student and Understanding What Mess She's Gotten into.
