In a dorm room at Radiant Heart a girl is currently cleaning her dorm room, which has clearly been just recently transferred in, suitcases still in the open in a corner, all of them still marked with the airplane’s flight details, as well as their owner’s name, Veronica Perenna. The only significant noise comes from her phone, which is chattering out words, lying flat on a desk as she is listening to the newscast.
Next to it, a grey-blue cat has found interest in the screen’s changing colours, its tail swirling back and forth. The reporter is audibly talking about a series of events that have been happening over the last week, a series of attempted thefts that have been occurring at the Hotel Augusta. The wide-eyed critter occasionally paws at the screen every time the reporter switches to a different item in the hotel’s collection.
“Emery, kitten, come here”, Veronica says, grabbing a steel rectangle with 4 white spheres at the corner, albeit the ones at the bottom are more of a dome, cut as they are with a flat base. She shakes it to attract the cat’s attention, metal rings of various colours ringing against the thin bar. The cat meows as it notices the toy, immediately leaving the phone along and jumping down as the girl lowers its new center of attention on the ground, starting to paw at the rings, which bounce around the rectangle’s side.
Veronica grabs the phone, examining the screen for its condition. The screen is just a tiny bit scratched, she notices, albeit they are a bit difficult to see against the dark image the reporter has pulled up, a calling card with the words "Your recent acquisition of a precarious enchanted artifact dubbed "The Peak's Secret Heart" is a matter of interest to me. I shall pay you a visit the 17th of September to relieve you of such an object. ~ The Princess of Sarek"
Veronica smiles as she tunes out of the newscast. “Well now, they found it, Emery”, she says, kneeling down to stroke the playful cat’s fur. “The demons will be sure to make their move.”
