“You can’t do this!” Firefly actually shrieked, slamming the shaft of Luminous Titan on the ground so it made a loud clang.

“It’s not fair!” Mimete whined. “Riventon was MY lackey! Why is his work getting dumped on me?”

Kaolinite rubbed her forehead, trying to will the headache away. “Mimete, Hotaru--”

“I don’t NEED someone else to look after me!” Firefly shrieked, cutting her off.

“She’s already bit me once!” Mimete yelled. “Does this look infected to you?”

Nope. Headache wasn’t going to go away. She wondered if turning the witches 4 into the witches 3 would get the brat to stop screaming. Or at least Mimete’s replacement would keep her mouth shut and do her damn job. It wasn’t like she hadn’t noticed how quickly they’d taped the ‘4’ over the ‘5’ once Riventon’s transfer had been announced. Surely changing it to a 3 wouldn’t be any harder.

“This role transfer may be temporary. HOWEVER!” Kaolinite yelled the moment she heard both of them gearing up for another holler. “This is a directive from Doctor Tomoe, not from me. Hotaru, if you really wish to interrupt your father’s work over it, that will need to be something you do when he isn’t in the middle of an important experiment.” Important experiment her butt. She suspected he was just using this as an excuse so she had to be the badguy. AGAIN. How could he be so frustrating and so magnificent at the same time?

Firefly huffed and stomped her feet, but then stormed off. “I HATE YOU!” she yelled back at her.

Yeah, as if anything else was new. Kaolinite sighed and shook her head, resting her head in her palm.

“Why do I have to babysit her?” Mimete asked. “She’s such a brat and--”

The moment the door slammed shut from angry Firefly, Kaolinite’s hand lunged forward and gripped Mimete around the throat. “Allow me to be perfectly clear, Mimete. You will be keeping her out of trouble, or I will have one of the members of the Witches 3 take care of it. Understand?”

Mimete’s hands reached up, holding the wrist of the hand choking her. The words, however, sunk in and she gave a small, weak nod. “Y-yes!”

“Good,” Kaolinite said before letting her go. She ignored Mimete’s coughing and sputtering. “Now go keep her out of trouble.” The moment the door slammed shut again she gave another sigh and reached up, rubbing her forehead.
