Profile

Michel is an ancient angelic being, the god of the Ancients, who once helped guide the mermaids and the Panthalassa in safeguarding Earth's ecosystem. He inexplicably disappeared millennia ago, and then returned in the year 2025. On his return, Michel's horror at human damage to the world hardened his heart into a crusading belief: the Ancients, mermaids and Panthalassa are inherently superior and should reclaim their role as the planet’s guides. That conviction drives him a personal vendetta against the Mermaid Princesses after they refuse his attempt to recruit them, and it fuels his desire to punish the human world they protect.

Michel has already absorbed Seira, the unborn Mermaid Princess of the Indian Ocean, during his first manifestation, and he now seeks to absorb the rest of the Mermaid Princesses and any other source of power he encounters, believing that doing so will restore him to the perfect being he once was. To achieve this, he is aided by winged servants, whose mission is to defeat magical warriors and lead them to Michel’s presence. He is also supported by a mysterious flame known as the Great One, which provides a “medicine” that can slow the spread of his illness; this relief, however, comes at the cost of intensifying his suffering.

The angel’s origin, however, is a lie fed to him by Fuku so that he will carry out the bird’s agenda: restoring magical races as the planet’s prime inhabitants and ridding the world of humans. In truth, this Michel is a clone that Fuku formed using DNA extracted from the real Michel’s fossil and whose body she shaped using the half-human, half-Panthalassa girl Michal as the base.

The clone’s creation was the result of a pact between Fuku and Michal’s father, who only sought to heal his daughter from a mysterious disease, and her father now serves as Fuku's figurehead under the guise of the Great One. The same disease that consumed Michal’s body also infected the angel, and it is the source of Michel’s affliction. Fuku’s cloning method left any latent goodness inside the original Michel’s fossil, and she continues to feed the clone lies so that the true Michel might one day be resurrected.
