On the other side of the Universe
More than anything Horde Prime had been surprised His little brother was still alive. It had been decades since He'd exiled the abomination. He was sure the defective clone would die, cut off as he would be, but it seemed the clone had more of His positive traits than He'd thought. The clone had found something of value: planet full of magical energy, ready to be cleansed by His divine light.
There were several things about Etheria that were peculiar. It had magic like few other planets He'd encountered. It also was covered with technology he was all too familiar with. He thought he'd wiped out every trace of Eternia across the universe, but he'd missed one, and it was a very powerful weapon. But it was broken. It was missing pieces.
He did not, however, ascend to dominance over the entire known universe by giving up or without picking up a few tricks. The sensors aboard the Velvet Glove were able to analyze the magical signatures recorded from the portal event, and He noticed that there were several connections from Etheria to a very distant world. He was certain those were the missing pieces. Missing people. Eternians loved to imbue their magic into people. And they called Him cruel.
Whatever this place was, it was far too far away to reach any time soon, and He still had a rebellion to squash on Etheria. But he was not completely powerless to intervene. Effective communications technology was an essential component to the effective conquest and dominion of the universe. He was able to pinpoint the planet. He could even detect several Etherian magical signatures on it. One of them seemed different, though. It seemed more sinister.
Video communications across so many light years was unreliable at best. But when the image flickered onto the screen, what Horde Prime saw was not what appeared to be an Etherian refugee, but rather some girl with black hair in a pink dress binge eating pastries while watching whatever screen He'd hijacked.
"You! Yes, you in the pink," He called out, through the screen. "Yes, I'm talking to you. Come here. Tell me, who are you?"
Here in the Radiant Heart dorms
Dianora was on thin ice. Her identity was compromised. Too many people knew who she really was. She would never be able to pull off the confidence game she was meant to. She wasn't going anywhere because she still had connections. She had her clubs. She was attached. That's the trouble with deep cover. But she had a lot of thinking to do about what her purpose was.
And her favorite thing to do when she needed to think was to eat sweets and watch her telenovelas. This one was set in a sword and sorcery setting. Lots of intrigue and romance. It was her favorite by far. So much backstabbing and unexpected plot twists. She made a game out of guessing what would happen. She was pretty good at it most of the time.
What she did not expect was for some face to show up in the middle of the screen all of the sudden. A face she could not possibly forget. She took a bite out of the donut in her hand and then scooted down off the bed and walked closer to the TV. She looked up at Horde Prime and smiled big. There was powdered sugar on her nose. "I'm Dianora Lagorio," she said with a little curtsey, her donut held out to the side with one hand, "and one day, I'm going to be a star!"
Then she burst into a fit of giggles.
She shoved the entire rest of the donut into her mouth and then lifted her necklace up over her head. Her form melted into a black blob of shadowy potential that flowed into Double Trouble in their green and yellow glory, and mesh body suit. With a donut in their mouth. Omnom. They tucked the necklace into a pocket and took a bow. "Double Trouble at your service."
The TV's speakers weren't he highest quality, but the irritation was easy to make out in Horde Prime's voice. "Double Trouble? I have heard of you. My little brother told me you are mercurial and untrustworthy; loyal to none but yourself. He also said no one is better than you at what you do." The fact was, he didn't have enough power to make another call. This was who he had. At least it was somebody he might be able to work with. "You like to ally yourself with winners, don't you?"
Double Trouble blinked. They knew what fate Horde Prime had met in their past, but that past wasn't the past any more. Maybe it was the future now. Maybe it was some other timeline entirely. Horde Prime was here in their TV and he was looking for an ally. Double Trouble was looking for their next big thing. Maybe this was it.

Double Trouble was going to prepare Earth for Horde Prime alright. When He got to there, He wouldn't stand a chance. In the meantime, Double Trouble had an inspiring new role to play. Their body melted into that shadowy cloud that expanded and solidified into the pale white and green of Horde Prime. "Deactivate," He commanded the bots, and they all did, their legs drawing in and their bodies settling down onto whatever surface was underneath.
From a seat on the Board maybe Double Trouble would be able to learn useful information. It was time for the Horde to join Obsidian.
