Date of Cutscene: 08 June 2025
Location: Karashima Shrine
Synopsis: Ahmya practices her swordsmanship while she quietly thinks on the events of the other day.
Cast of Characters: Ahmya Karashima

'All life has worth.'

That was something that Ahmya Karashima had been taught from a young age. Not because she had treated anyone or anything poorly, it was just a part of her training as a shrine maiden, something that had been ongoing much of her life.

And it was something that she was quietly musing on, as she began to swing her sword through the air, a mimicry of the blade she uses as Goldenweb Yorotsuchi, including having attached some thin, strong, braided rope attached to it. It wasn't nearly as practical or effective without the magical improvements of her golden silk, but it was good for practicing regardless.

'All life has worth. So what is the worth of those who walk the path of darkness?'

What was the objective need for such things?

Was it a balancing thing for those of us in the light? But those that walk in the light would largely willingly give up their powers if it gave true peace, wouldn't they? Or at least they'd be willing to no longer fight beyond maybe keeping their powers reasonably well trained in case some new darkness showed up.

The specific darkness she was thinking on, was, of course, Seriss Nyx. Someone who had been tormenting one of her friends. Someone who had been tormenting the city. Someone whose actions likely had caused significant harm, even with the mitigating effects of the Barriers always put up as soon as possible when someone discovers one of her schemes.

'I like the food of the world. This world has so many interesting things to discover.'

And yet... that tiny thread of possible hope. Sure, Ahmya Karashima didn't think that she could convince Seriss Nyx to willingly give up her body, but at the same time... what if, maybe, she could be brought to be disinterested in destroying the world? What if someone reaching out and being something approaching a friend could help her to be less willing to bring destruction?

...Isn't it, then, as a shrine maiden and a warrior of the light, her duty to do everything she can to grasp that thread of hope?

And, well. It wasn't like Seriss' presence was a complete negative. It /is/ pretty bad, but the more she thought about it, the more Ahmya couldn't help that there is a level on which she feels she should thank Seriss, because there was one thing that she had done for them.

She had, in her own way, brought Molly back to them.

In a way, Seriss Nyx was bringing them hope.

A very /twisted/ form of hope.

A hope that hurts.

A hope that angers.

A hope that brings harm... and yet.

Her presence means there is the hope of, one day, maybe getting Molly back.

...

"Ugh."

"This plan is so stupid."
