Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Event Timeline

A timeline of the events relevant to the Oceans' Seven Kingdoms that occurred before the present time.

Up to 10000 years ago

The Ancients were a race of creatures of the air that lived in their own realm. Led by their god Michel, they guided the merfolk and the Panthalassa with steady hands towards the safeguarding of the Earth's ecosystems.

At one point, they withdrew completely from the Earth, when they felt their guidance was no longer needed, and the Oceans' denizens were finally able to stand on their own and protect the lands and seas from the threats that would upset the thriving balance.

The 1700s

• The King and Queen of the Panthalassa start a war for dominion of the Oceans, and when the situation becomes unmanageable, Aqua Regina uses the majority of her power to seal away the warmongering faction in the Panthalassa palace, sunk to the perennial darkness of the abyssal depths, creating the Sealing Key and giving it to Hippo. The peaceful Panthalassa choose to build new lives among humanity.

2003

• After centuries, the two monarchs have a son and heir: Gaito, born with the Panthalassa's power of Darkness.

2004

• The reigning Princess of the Indian Ocean dies, and Sara is born from the Orange Pearl to succeed her, on the 21st of November (Sunday).

2007

• The reigning Princess of the South Pacific Ocean dies, and Coco is born from the Yellow Pearl to succeed her, on the 7th of August (Tuesday).

2009

• The reigning Princesses of the Artic and Antartic Ocean die, and twins Noel and Caren are born from the Indigo and Purple Pearls respectively to succeed them, the former on the 12th of February (Thursday) 1 minute before midnight, the latter on the 13th of February (Friday), 1 minute after midnight.

2013

• Kaito, second son to the Panthalassa royals, is born with the Panthalassa's power of Light on the 21st of January. The Panthalassa monarchs, sensing that this is their chance to break free and restart their dominion of the oceans, use the power of the two kids against the Seven Kingdoms.

• The seven princesses gather again to fight off this threat, but before their hearts can unite, the reigning Princess of the South Atlantic dies, on the 17th of May. While they are able to save the blue pearl, it's a losing fight for them from that point, and the birth of the new Princess of the South Atlantic, Hanon, on the 22nd of May (Wednesday), isn't enough to turn the tides. With the loss of the Princess of the North Pacific on the 28th of June, the North Pacific mermaids opt for sheltering the new princess Lucia born on the 2nd of July (Monday) and keeping her unaware.

• Many storms and violent watersprouts still shake the kingdoms, but things finally take a positive turn, thanks to the Princess of the North Atlantic, who manages to open a path for the other princesses to take the two Panthalassa kids away, albeit at the cost of her own life. Aqua Regina chooses to send one of them, Kaito, to the surface where he is found by the Domoto family, so that their dangerous power may never unite again.

• She instead sends Gaito to the kingdom of giant squids with the fishes of his family so he would have an element of familiarity with him, hoping that under the guidance of Doctor Somegoro, the kingdom’s wise and gentle ruler, Gaito would have a home where he could feel welcome and grow into a just and capable person. However, the Panthalassa Prince still harbors a grudge towards Aqua Regina for separating him from his parents.

• Princesses Coco and Sara first meet, starting their strong friendship.

• The Panthalassa monarchs plan to use dark energy as a last shot for their rule, even knowing that it is by know beyond their means. They die from the backlash, and when news of the event reach Gaito, he is devastated, further embittering him.

2015

• Sara meets and falls in love with prodigy pianist Mitsuki Taro, her love reciprocated and becoming all the stronger when Mitsuki finds out Sara is a mermaid on his own, ending all secrets between them.

2019

• Thinking Sara's relationship with Taro would be doing no good to her duties, an attendant to the Indian Ocean tells him that Sara's duties will force her to choose between him and her home, prompting him to want to spare her the hardship, and breaking up with Sara without a single word, an act that leaves her heartbroken and plants a seed of darkness.

• Sara's tumultuous heart causes a storm over the Indian Ocean, destroying its kingdom and sinking a cruise that was passing through its water. Everyone on it dies, including the Domoto family. Moments before, their adopted son, Kaito had spotted Lucia singing in the water, and feeling herself drawn to him, the pink mermaid stays until the storm happens.

• Lucia saves the boy and brings him to coast, placing her pearl on him so its powers could save his life. When the boy starts waking up, Lucia rushes back into the sea without recovering her pearl, but always remembering the boy she got a crush on.

• Sara, feeling she has lost her right to be a mermaid princess, gives in to the darkness and steals the Sealing Key from Hippo, taking advantage of the hippocampus being asleep, and having heard of that being the access to Gaito's ancestral home and of the prince's pain, she brings it to Gaito intending to start a plan for revenge with him. The two of them share their pain to each other and becoming lovers.

• Motivated by a desire for revenge against Aqua Regina, Gaito sets out to fulfill his ancestors' ambition and gift the Earth to Sara, waging war against the mermaid kingdoms with the intent of gathering all the pearls and obtain Aqua Regina's power. He empowers his beloved family fishes, granting them human form and turning them into the Dark Lovers.

• Sara asks Coco to meet her, and despite knowing it's a trap, the latter agrees to meet her, not having given up on trying to mend Sara's broken heart. This ends with Coco being unable to heal her Heart, the South Pacific Kingdom destroyed and Coco captured.

• At the same time, Gaito's forces destroy the North Atlantic, South Atlantic and Artic Kingdoms, and Yuri captures Noel, after the Indigo Princess sacrifices herself to avoid Rina being captured. Hanon escapes the destruction of the South Atlantic thanks to her citizens stepping in to buy her enough time.

2023, sometime before July

• Gaito recruits the Black Beauty Sisters.

• Mitsuki Taro starts teaching at Radiant Heart.

• Eril plays around with the Sealing Key and loses it due to her carelessness, leading to Hippo getting the Sealing Key back and being able to free Coco, but the Black Beauty Sisters get it back in the process.

• Coco, the mermaid princess of the South Pacific Ocean, joins Radiant Heart Academy in search of a way to reach out to Sara and stop Gaito's ambitions.
