Rashmi Terios's Sheet
Background
For most of her life, Rashmi was the studious, if somewhat lonely, daughter of an Osakan chef and a Bengali spice artist. Despite her adoring parents and all the acquaintances she's had over the years, she's always been a bit too far into her own head to really connect with people. She had her books, she had her debate club, and she just did her very best to make the world around her better than she found it.
One day, while digging in a used bookstore for possible new treasures, a charm fell out of an old Narnia paperback; a yellow plastic sunburst, with a red glass 'gem' in its center. Conscientiously, she brought it to the clerk, and was told that they don't sell anything of that sort, and if she liked it, it was hers. Thinking nothing more of it, she paid for her books, pocketed the charm, and walked into the arms of destiny.
On her way home, a marauding youma crossed her path. But instead of making a light snack of her energy, Rashmi heard a deep *BONG* from the charm in her pocket. Time seemed to stand still, as she repeated the charm's instructions, and registered herself as the master of Nicomachea, the Support Device. While her first 'battle' was more 'try not to panic as Nicomachea took care of the details for her,' the fact remained that an entire new world had opened up to Rashmi, one she wasn't sure was something she could even talk to her parents about.
It's been a couple months now, and while Rashmi is a touch more comfortable as a Mage, she's made no progress toward finding out *why her,* *why now,* and *what even is going on around here?* One thing she does know, however, is that she has come into more power than she ever dreamed of, and to whom much is given, much is expected.
Personality
Rashmi is a worrier. She has a lot to worry about, after all! Grades, debates, self-taught flying lessons, how to cast magic while under attack... You'd worry too! But underneath that worry is an unshakable sense of justice and compassion, and once she taps into that, it's impossible to stop her from her chosen course. But more than that; Rashmi *believes* in people. She believes in them so hard, sometimes they believe in themselves to prove her right. Sometimes she can shine a light in Dark places, and make a friend where none believed a friend could be.
Focus
Rashmi is a Device Mage; specifically, she is the master of Nicomachea Exia, the Support Device, which takes the form of an armored and teched-out encyclopedia. While her magic comes from her own heart, it's Nicomachea's job to take that energy and perform the necessary calculations to make workable spells out of it. As a Support Device, Nicomachea Exia is also optimized for boosting and defensive magics over attack, and Rashmi will never have the raw throughput to create a particularly land-altering attack. But if she's smart, and thinks outside the box, perhaps she'll be able to do more with less.

Powers
As the master of a Support Device, Rashmi tends to fit firmly into the back line, in the support role. While she can provide fire support, her true skill is as a force multiplier and defensive aid. Some of her magics include:
Exia Mode is Rashmi's baseline configuration, offering a wide array of support, defense, and lower-powered attack magics. Her Grimoire is as follows:
ATTACK SPELLS
Barret -- At its core, the Barret is the standard sidearm of the Mid-Childan Device Mage; a ball of energy in the Mage's mana signature color, tunable across a wide range of parameters (power, speed, homing ability, maneuverability, etc) and of moderate power. A youma who is hit by a Barret will know they were tagged, but probably not incapacitated. Cast as a spell, Rashmi summons and launches 6-12 Barrets at a time. She has programmed several variants of Barret, dubbed 'Shifts.'
- Bind Shift — The payload installed in the Barrets is a Bind spell, causing the location of the hit to be surrounded by a ring of energy that locks the location in space. The Binds can be broken, either by specialized magic or sufficient strength.
- Glace Shift — When converted to ice, Rashmi’s projectiles get ‘sticky.’ Blobs of ice build up at the impact points, hampering movement and persisting for several minutes.
- Blaze Shift — A thermal-additive component that can be applied to nearly any spell, converting the mana into searing flame. Blaze Barrets hit harder
- Solar Barrage — A rapid-fire configuration of Solar Barret, where a new Barret is summoned the moment one is fired. Rate of fire is dramatically increased, at the cost of homing ability. Allows strafing and suppressive-fire tactics.
- Solar Stinger — A Barret configuration with added endurance, allowing it to remain coherent through multiple impacts.
- Solar Blade — A heavy Barret modification, changing the Barret from an orb into a sword-shape, revealing its purpose as a shield-breaker.
DEFENSIVE SPELLS
- Round Shield — The basic Shield spell, it summons a disk of hard light to block incoming attacks. Average strength, holds up well against low-power attacks.
- Solar Shield — Nicomachea’s variant, allowing the Shield to be tuned across multiple parameters; physical or energy protection, kinetic kickback, coverage, and opacity.
- Red Shift — A defensive/offensive variant, a Red Shifted shield has had almost all of its structural integrity diverted to kickback. The result is a shield that will break at the slightest touch, but release an incredible amount of physical force in the direction of coverage; for a Solar Shield wrapping fully around Rashmi, this means a less-powerful, but omnidirectional, kinetic blast.
- Glace Shift — A Solar Shield infused with ice magic creates several effects; if directional, the Shield takes a more cone-like shape, becoming better at dispersing and deflecting attacks. If omnidirectional it takes the shape of an irregular, roughly spherical block of ice. In both modes, it excels at countering fire- and beam-based magic. The rigid and crystalline structure of Glace Shift means that kinetic kickback is lessened, and Red Shift is not possible.
- Blaze Shift — Infused with Fire magic, this Shield takes the form of a whirling shell of golden fire. It’s rapid movement is meant to deflect flowing attacks while attenuating their power by burning it away. Less effective than Glace Shift against physical attacks, it is primarily meant to counteract fire- and energy-based attacks
- Time-Space Barrier — A spell that shifts a wide area of space into a specialized dimensional pocket, filtering out non-magical actors and effects. Destruction wreaked upon the landscape within a Time-Space Barrier remains within the dimensional pocket, allowing mahou to hold nothing back.
INCREASE SPELLS
- Boost Up — A short-term spell that enhances specific abilities of others for an extremely limited time.
- Barret — Dramatically increases the power of ranged attacks.
- Strike — Likewise increases the power of melee attacks.
- Accel — Boosts the recipient’s speed. Maximum fun when used on mahou whose speed is their thing.
- Beta/Tera/Quadra/Penta/Exa — Often a risky gambit due to the mana output, these Boost variants target 2-6 allies simultaneously, allowing them all equally dramatic power-ups.
- Glace — A means of adding ‘cold’ magic to the spells of others, allowing attacks to leave behind clinging, hampering ice.
- Blaze — A means of adding thermal energy to the spells of others, essentially adds Fire element to her allies.
UTILITY SPELLS
- Flier Fin — Standard flight spell. As she is not specialized for aerial combat, Rashmi is more comparable to a support helicopter. Top speed caps out at 180km/h, but its use in positioning for tactical analysis is unquestioned.
- Solar Flash — A standard quick-move spell to allow for the dodging of incoming attacks. Extremely limited movement range (15m per jump maximum) makes it useful against melee and ranged attacks, but not wide-area spells.
- Investigation — Standard scouting and reconnaissance spell, creates one or more sensor balls that Rashmi can mentally control, and hear and see through. Currently most often used in tandem with Nicomachea’s data analysis speciality, allowing her access to more information than provided by simple audiovisual spectra.
- Depot Investigation — Reconfigures Nicomachea’s sensor suite to aid in Device analysis and diagnostics.
- Mana Investigation — Reconfigures Nicomachea’s sensor suite to aid in the study of magical activity in biological subjects.
- Solar Heal — A battlefield-recovery spell, the healing energies emanating from this magic circle don’t heal wounds very well, but does dull pain and help stop bleeding. Magical first aid, at best.
ACCESSORIES
- Mana Accumulator — A pair of canisters on Rashmi’s forearms that shave a little bit of mana off of her spells to store until full. When the canisters are 100% full, she has enough power for a finisher-style attack.
- Accumulator Purge – The command given for Nicomachea to prepare for a finisher. Example: “Verbal Command: Accumulator Purge.” << Command Input Execute >> << Purge Channels Green >> << Alternate Grimoire Loaded >> << Awaiting Command >> “Solar Buster.” << SOLAR BUSTER >>
- Solar Buster — A Bombardment-class spell, the Solar Buster launches a beam of focused, coherent, and improbably-nonlethal magical energy capable of putting a respectable hole in a building, furrow in concrete, and somehow leave living creatures perhaps lightly scorched and unconscious at worst. Can only be fired when her accumulator tank is fully charged.
- Solar Bless — A fusion of Barret, Strike, Accel, and Blaze boosts, this spell boosts all parameters to every ally within a short range, best for preparing the finisher round.
- Accumulator Purge – The command given for Nicomachea to prepare for a finisher. Example: “Verbal Command: Accumulator Purge.” << Command Input Execute >> << Purge Channels Green >> << Alternate Grimoire Loaded >> << Awaiting Command >> “Solar Buster.” << SOLAR BUSTER >>
- Index — A series of bookmarks used by Nicomachea Exia, Indexes are slotted in place to modify a spell on the fly, adding extra parameters without requiring extra mana cost. Each is only usable once per fight.
- Area Index — Greatly expands the area of effect of a spell as a percentage of base. Best used with Shield and Boost spells, to allow her to affect more people over a wider area.
- Burst Index — Imparts an extra hit of raw kinetic force to a spell, similar to Rashmi's Red Shifted shields. Best used to give attack spells extra kick, this Index synergizes nicely with her Ice barrets to help pin targets on the ground.
- Bind Index — An Index that is a sneaky addition to a barret or shield, this Index adds a simple Bind to the spell's effect. If a Barret or two find their mark? A Bind activates on the impact site. If a melee attack breaks a shield? The offending weapon or limb is stuck in place, at least for a little bit.
- Glace Index — Imparts ice effects atop any spell's preloaded purpose. Boost spells also impart movement-hampering cold. Shields explode into shards of ice when broken. Etc. Good for helping to counter fire magic.
- Blaze Index — Imparts fire effects atop any spell's preloaded purpose. Boost spells also impart clinging, painful emulated fire. Broken Shields burst in a localized explosion. Etc. Good for helping to counter ice magic.
Meister -- After much intensive learning, training, and testing, Rashmi has been recognized as a Meister, an engineer qualified to build, modify, repair, and upgrade Devices. While she needs Device parts for this, some of which simply cannot be sourced from anywhere other than TSAB equipment, it also makes Rashmi the one to go to when a Devicer's current toolkit is not sufficient to meet the threat before them.
