Bomb Threat
Date of Scene: 07 November 2023
Location: Penguin Park
Synopsis: Catra gets ahold of Adora's phone number, and promptly uses it to prank her. A serious discussion ensues.
Cast of Characters: Catra, Adora Rainbowfist

Catra has posed:
It's late afternoon, and it seems like a fairly quiet day. The sun is shining, not much homework to deal with, people at the Radiant Heart Academy are basically just relaxing between classes and generally having a great time.

Right after Phys Ed Class, of course, Adora's phone bleeps cheerfully (or whatever it does) to let her know that she's got a text.

<< Hey Adora. >>

Of course, the number for the sender is hidden, and it's not like they've identified themselves.

<< I'm bored >>

The second text arries only a few seconds later. And it's only about half a minute before a third one arrives.

<< Obsidian wants me to test out a bomb. Planet it at Penguin Park. Thought you should know. >>

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Adora finishes changing back into her uniform after the showers. She gave up on the skirts after a week, and wears the girl's top (The whole cute sailor schtick) with the boy's trousers. Honestly, it's an insanely good look on her, and she's been idly curious what Catra would think of seeing it. Catra, as always, has been on her mind. Having a roommate and Swiftwind, however, has helped cool her down a little bit. She's still desperate to save her girlfriend from herself and Obsidian, but she isn't as maddash now, and understands that Things Take Time. Ugh. Patience sucks. She just wants to smooch the cat, already.

She adjusts her backpack strap, which hangs off one shoulder, and fishes her phone out of her trouser pocket as it plays a 'YEEHAW!' from some old American Western. She still hasn't seen a movie, but the idea of Westerns REALLY interest her. She furrows her brow when she sees that first text, and the second one has her stopping in her tracks. She is beginning to type a confused response when the third one hits.

<< Catra, don't do anything harsh. I'm coming. >>

With that she shoves the phone back into her pocket and takes off at a sprint, her backpack slapping against her as she goes. At her pace, even in Adora form, it won't take her incredibly long to get there!

Catra has posed:
Catra spends the next ten minutes randomly text Adora.

<< Tick tock >>

<< Oooooh there's people standing right beside it Adora better hurry >>

<<Only like five minutes left now >>

Catra isn't exactly trying to hide herself. Well, she's concealed by her illusion in the Rachel Miller look, jeans and hoody with loud music playing in her ears of course, but she's sitting on top of a wall, dangling her feet over the edge as she plays with her phone.

Blood of a lion
Blood of the beast makes you who you are
Blood of a lion
Many will stand against you, but you will prevail and reclaim
Your crown and throne

"This planet sucks, but at least the music's good," Catra grumbles to herself. She might look unalert, but surely Adora would know better, even spotting her from behind.

With the cage now destroyed (now destroyed)
Let the sheep feel your presence
And you will storm the castle
With a thundering roar for victory
Your time has come

<< Youre so slow Adora, bomb goes off soon >>

Catra sends the final text and pockets her phone, stretching her arms up over her head as she continues to enjoy the music and waits for ADora to show up.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
Adora shows up.

She comes sprinting into view, huffing and puffing a bit from the run. Her ponytail bobs behind her, her backpack using BOTH straps for once, she she needs them to run properly. The schoolgirl comes within view of Catra before Adora spots her, the girl glancing about the crowded afternoon park with wide eyes. Soon enough she spots 'Rachel', though, and she moves in that direction.

"Hey! I'm here!" She waves up at her, grumbling a bit. "Is there really one?," she asks. "Because I figure you would have bolted by now if there was."

She leans against the wall under where she sits, catching her breath as the 'sailor' looks up at her.

"...Either way, you got me here. Now, be fair and gimme your number back."

Catra has posed:
Catra looks down at the out-of-breath Adora, and smirks. "Oh, I was going to keep you running around looking for it as long as I could, but no, there's no bomb," she replies. "I just wanted to see if I could make you come running whenever I wanted, and it turns out that I *can*. And, I'll always be able to, becuase you'll never know when I'm bluffing and when I'm for real, like last time with the rifle."

Catra rests her hands on the wall beside her, and somehow inspite of her disguise, manages to look like a cat eyeing up a mouse and trying to decide if it's worth the trouble. "You don't... actually expect me to do that, do you? If I give you my number that means you can just annoy me whenever you want. I really kind of like this better as a one-way street. And you're so *easy* to manipulate."

Catra drops down off the wall, and drops her disguise -- there's nobody within at least ten feet, what's the worst that could happen? Someone mistakes her for cosplay?

"You look tired, Adora. Are you sure you don't want to sit down? You didn't seriously run *all* the way here, did you? ...Oh, that's right, you need to be in *Obsidian* to do the door trick."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
The blonde scowls a bit, and she tugs her hair out of the ponytail to cool down a bit. It tumbles across her cheeks and past her neck as she sighs.

"Catra..."

It's about all the can manage at first, before she slings her backpack off and lets it drop beside her. "What? No rude comments about the uniform?," she asks, smirking at her. She's trying to keep pace with her and not socially be put on the backfoot. She was good at it as a kid but kind of lost the touch as she got older. Especially once she became She-Ra. But here she's been made to deal with...a lot of teenage girls. It's sink or swim in these social circles. So, she's better then she was, at least.

"It's okay to admit that you just wanted to see me. I've been wanting to see you, too. That whole...'girl outing' was just messy and...neither of us were our best. It happens." She tucks a lock of yellow behind her ear, watching the gloating cat. "Yeah, I'm tired. But I'll get through it. I don't need magical doors to get around. I have an alicorn, remember? He's just hanging out with my roommate today. She's head-over-heels for him."

Catra has posed:
"What?" Catra looks shocked at first, then curls her lip up, "No I didn't want to *see* you, I wanted to jerk you around like one of those puppets with strings that you see on TV here. Whatever they're called. Stop trying to ruin the moment."

The feline's tail lashes behind her as she stalks off a few steps, before she whips around to face Adora once more. "And yeah, sure, you got your flying horsie back," she adds in a rueful tone, "As if you didn't already have enough friends, suddenly you've got one more. Where're *mine*? Is it too much to ask for Scorpia or..." She trails off for a moment; who exactly else would she have wanted to show up, anyway? Is there anyone?

"Could've used Hordak," she mutters. She finally gets around to shutting off her music, so Adora might finally know she's got Catra's full attention -- not that she couldn't hear just fine with it on.

"Horde uniforms are still the best," she adds, leaning against the wall behind her.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"I saw Shadow Weaver," she replies. "I know she's using Dark Energy, so that means she's with you guys. I guess you have -her- or whatever." She hesitates. "...AND Glimmer..."

She sighs softly, rubbing the back of her head as she watches the girl. She sees her tuck the earbuds away and chews her lip a bit. "I think you'd like Makoto. My roomie. She's nice. I mean, you'd probably find her aggravating, but she's joined me on the 'convince Catra to leave Obsidian' train, so she's good people, at least." Adora clears her throat and scuffs the ground a bit.

"It's...kinda nice to be talking to you without swinging a sword or dodging claws. I'm gonna take what I can get, when I can get it. Call that jerking-me-around all you want. Anyways, you wanna catch a movie, sometime? I keep hearing they're a lot of fun."

Yes. Yes, Adora just asked Catra out.

Catra has posed:
Catra is right about to inform Adora that Glimmer is in fact NOT here and that the person she met was actually Double Trouble in disguise, but after opening her mouth and clamping it shut, she decides not to ruin DT's fun. Afterall, she counts as a friend, more or less, and... well, Catra hasn't experiened the shapeshifter switching sides.

"You really are an idiot if you think *Shadow Weaver* is on my side," she grumbles. "She left me *for you*, remember? Not too long before I opened the portal. You know, the one that brought us here, and may've destroyed Etheria for all we know. And gave you a bunch of delusions about the future."

Seems Catra's worked out how to rationalize Adora having a different story. Must've been hit on the head in the portal or something.

"I already saw a movie, and it was lame," she adds, folding her arms across her chest. "Don't get your hopes up super high, it's two hours of watching a bunch of twits pretend to be some other bunch of twits. I dunno how you're supposed ot watch something that *bad* when you actually know how to fight. Which we both do."

Catra pauses; her ears twitch, and she looks off to the side, gazing at nothing in particular. "Don't get used to it," she adds, replying to the notion of there not being any swordplay or claws flashing right this moment.

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Catra, that portal did NOT bring me here," she sighs. "We're...from different -times-. I keep telling you that. In my world you did the portal thing, and then we managed to close it because the Queen sacrificed herself." She sighs. "And then there were almost two more years of War after that. Like I said, Hordak fell in love with Entrapta, and you...I dunno...sent her to Beast Island, I think?"

She rubs her eyes. "It's just...a movie is just a chance to watch a story. Remember how I used to tell you stories when we were really little? It's like that. But with special effects and stuff."

The glance away from Catra when she says that next part makes her smile a bit to herself, though.

Catra has posed:
Is it even possible for Catra not to be difficult? Well, cats generally do walk by themselves, afterall. It doesn't seem to matter which world you're on. The feline's tail lashes behind her as she stalks a step to the left, then a couple to the right. "Yeah and your tories were lame too," she grumbles. It's nonsense and she knows it, she remembers full well that she hung off every word, and it's hardly as if Adora wouldn't also remember.

"You need to stop holding back," she says at last, advancing on Adora and raising both hands to give her a hard shove on the shoulders. "Last time we fought I *knew* you were holding back. ...Not like it's hard to tell when you keep complaining that you don't wanna fight. Well I *do* and I'm not gonna hold back anything, so if you don't want innocent people getting hurt, the kind like I know you can't resist protecting, you gotta start fighting like you mean it. Wether it's me or someone else you're up against."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
She gets shoved and hits the wall behind her, but she doesn't shove back. "Catra...you don't remember what happens when I don't hold back, but I DO. You corrupted me at one point. Made me go...berserk. I was going to kill you before I got stopped. It was...it was scary for both of us. I'm never going to let that happen again." Her words are fueled with emotion when she says it.

Adora grits her teeth a bit, and she brushes hair from her face. "I'm not going to kill anyone, Catra. I'll put someone in the hospital or something if I need to, but I'm not killing anyone. But you KNOW what I'm capable of while still holding -back-."

Catra has posed:
Catra's lips turn upwards at the corners, "Actually I *do* remember that, that was before the portal. That was pretty fun actually, I gotta get Reventon to figure out how to do that again sometime." She lets the bit about how she almost got killed -- and she very almost did -- pass unremarked. That part of it was kinda awkward, definitely. Besides, Scorpia was there to stop her getting killed.

No Scorpia here, though.

"Adora, you aren't always going to have the choice. Sooner or later you're gonna have to go all out, or those innocent people you love so much are going to get killed." She scowls, turning and stepping away. "You know... these people," she adds, gesturing towards the population of the park.

"All these nice, sweet, innocent people, who if they saw me up close and realized I wasn't wearing a costume right now, would probably call the police, who'd then call the army, who'd come and haul me off for the scientists to play with until they got bored and cut me into little pieces. So sweet and innocent, right."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"Being afraid doesn't remove their innocence, Catra," Adora replies softly, sadly. "But no, I can't even begin to understand what it's like to be one of the beastfolk on Earth. I'm human." She sighs softly, watching the other girl from where she leans back against the wall Catra was originally perched upon.

"But...about the not being able to always hold back? You're right, and I'd be lieing if I said something else. But I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. And when...if I ever do...that happens? It's not gonna be with you. Anhd I KNOW that just by saying that you're gonna get it in your mind to push me and prove me wrong, because that's how you keep telling yourself that that's what you deserve when it comes down to it, that's just not true."

"It must be so confusing for you. The last thing you remember we were at eachother's throats. I was...afraid of you and what you were going to do. Furious with you. But I realized, over time, the truth of it all. But I can't force you to that point here, no matter how much I just want all this to be over with, and for us to be happy again. I know you've gotta reach it yourself."

She grunts and kicks a rock aside. "I just wish I had a way to show you the future I lived."

Catra has posed:
"Well maybe it *is*," Catra replies, still not turning around to look over her shoulder. "Maybe your future is different from mine, Adora. Actually, it definitely is; you know you experienced things I didn't. ...I still think you just hit your head again."

The feline finally turns around, "What makes you think it'll all happen all over again? You keep telling me I'll eventually come over to your side, come to you, even though you never came back to *me*. What're you gonna do if that never happens here, hunh? What if I'm already too far gone down my own path?"

Catra takes a step back, and shakes her head. "You gotta think about these things, Adora. I know that's not your strong suit, but *try*, okay? And Adora..."

She quirks her lips upwards on one side, making that lopsided grin that Adora is so familiar with. "Next time we meet? Definitely bring the sword. I'm gonna have a *surprise* for you."

Adora Rainbowfist has posed:
"I know, Catra. I -know-. You think I don't know all that stuff going on inside of you, but I do. BECAUSE I lived that future. BECAUSE you TOLD me."

She stays quiet for the rest of the girl's speech, frowning softly, but not tensing till the end. She glances around at the people enjoing their afternoon, taking it all in for a moment before she turns back to the girl.

"We both know I'm an idiot, Catra," she replies with a small smile. "But the only thing I've never been an idiot about is you."

She stoops to take her backpack. "I'll bring my Sword, kitten. And I'm sure we'll fight. And I'm sure I'll cry after. But I still won't give up. Chalk it up to me being dumb."

Catra has posed:
"I'm the *biggest* thing you've ever been an idiot about," Catra counters. "Anyway. This has been fun and all, and it's nice to know I can make you come literally running until your legs fall off any time I want, but it's time for me to go. Remember, next time, bring the sword. You'll need it."

She reactivates her illusion device; and even in her human guise, the scowl is evident. She hates it, and that much is plain; but on this world, there's no other choice. Or at least, that's what she's been told.

"See you next time," she mutters, as she turns to walk away; pulling her hood up over her head, stuffing her earbuds in, and cranking some loud, offensive music up to drown out the world.
