| A typical shotengai (shopping street) in Juuban, where many locals prefer to do their shopping. Opening pre-dawn and with the eateries closing late into the night, this one runs the full length of a city street, with an enclosed glass ceiling that reveals the sky above. Because light pollution has made it difficult to see the beautiful stars for which Shin Hoshi was named, there are many murals depicting the night sky and the milky way.
Shin Hoshi Shotengai features a florist, a fish market, a pair of competing butcher shops, several bakeries, multiple grocers, an assortment of food stalls selling everything from typical snacks to expensive travel gifts.
