Interview with an Enforcer
Date of Scene: 02 November 2024
Location: School Library
Synopsis: Miho and Chrono meet up to discuss the nature of her magic and for him to help give her some information on just what kind of world she's in now. As well as guide her towards the shed.
Cast of Characters: Chrono Harlaown, Miho Inada

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown was sitting in the library, a history book open in front of him. A cunning disguise, making it look like he's studying... when really, he's waiting for someone. Miho Inada, one of the girls he recently met in training. Her and Laura were two soldiers he wasn't familiar with and he wanted to rectify that, as well as learn more about how her abilities worked, as well as offer guidance where he could.

So he'd sent her an invite and was in the stage of waiting. He also... had a bird. Asleep on his shoulder. A lidth jay, the pink, white and blue bird seemingly quite content to be nestled up on his shoulder, though he occasionally reached up to pet her. Very well behaved bird.

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho had gotten a text from Chrono. It doesn't take her long to gather a few things with her in case, before heading out. As the woman heads to the library, she sends a couple of texts out to a few people, just in case. Mostly cause she had planned on doing a little shopping and getting dinner. But this is important.

The woman approaches Chrono, and gives a small bow. "Thank you for this tutoring session.", she says, in case others are doing some extra studying. As the woman pulls out a chair, she puts her duffle bag on the table. One can see there's a few protein bars in there. Quick energy hits. Miho breathes out, as she settles into place a bit.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown gave a small nod, smiling up at her in that gentle, comforting way he always did. The smile of someone who was in control and knew exactly what to do, how to do it and in what manner it needed to be done. Everyone was safe now, he was here.

Well, he was an enforcer, he needed to master that smile long ago. "Thank you for joining me, Inada-san. So, you know who I am, but just to ensure there's no confusion..."

"I am Time Space Administrative Bureau Enforcer, Chrono Harlaown." He once again held out his palm and the holographic ID card displayed. "I am, for the moment, this world's sole TSAB representative. I was a crew member of the arthas, which crash landed across time and space when it got stuck in this dimensional disruption. I have been working with the magical people of this dimension to help maintain peace and security, while also studying the strange magical rules of this dimension, in order to, hopefully, one day send my findings back to the TSAB."

"So, would you please tell me about yourself, how you acquired your magic and information you know per its nature?"

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho nods her head as she touches her magatama. She takes a deep breath for a moment. "Well, I'm the daughter of a MMA trainer and a part time Miko. Both are from very old clans founded 1000 years ago. Clans, I mean families. As to how I aquired my magic...thats...kinda really hard to explain.", she tells, blushing a little bit. "As I understand only bits and pieces of it.", she tells.

"As to my nature, I borrow power of a Yuki-onna. A youkai known as the Snow Maidens. I can control temperture around me to freezing tempertures. Another magic that I have learned is the Onmyoji style of magics. Using Yukihime's ability to freeze water in the air around me, and using her talons, I can create ice talismans, as well as summon Shikigami.", she tells.

Miho takes a deep breath. "I'm still learning how to control both styles, as well as learning as to who I am.", the woman says. "As for power? I'm...very weak in terms of attack power. I can't fight youma one on one, like others. While I have gone out on patrols, but I have to use harrying tactics to weaken, and knock them down enough to finish them off.", Miho tells.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown gave a small nod, flipping through the history book as he talked... someone might think he wasn't paying attention.

But he was. He was making notes to his device as she spoke and coming away with yet another new thing learned. Magic BS. So much of it.

However, the last bit made him shake his head. "There's nothing wrong with that. In terms of magical people, only a handful of the people on this planet have anything approaching actual training. I'd be one of those people. And, as such, I would give you one important piece of advice."

"Never fight alone if you can avoid it. I have extensive training in solo operations because it is expected that, at times, I will have to run ahead of supply lines and the like in order to deal with a threat. But whenever operating with others is an option? Do it. In the heat of battle, anything can go wrong. And allies can make all the difference between a slip up being disastrous or fatal, versus a slipup causing you to get a few bruises."

"On top of that, many styles of magic in this world seem to be force multipliers, rather than destructive and powerful on their own, instead they seem to amplify the powers of others. With the right support, I've seen magical people who have managed to strike two or even three times above their own capabilities. One of our greatest assets in this fight is our ability to work together."

"Now then... this... Youkai of yours." He was, in fact, also using his device to search what it was. "Have you met it? Or are your powers more themed around it, and that is where the powers come from?"

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho nods her head a little bit. She listens a bit as he tells her about others, and gives advice. As he asks about her youkai. The woman takes a deep breath debating on a few things, but then comes to small decision. "Not so much met it...", Miho says. She looks around, to make sure before she faces Chrono. Her eyes have gone pale, and there's...fangs coming out fo her mouth. Not majorly, but its clear to see them. "As I am...it.", she tells.

"I have some blood of the youkai thats been passed down.", she admits to. "I have only told those who I trust. I'm choosing to trust you with this.", she admits. Miho closes her eyes, and they go back to normal. The Magatama hairclip, it was green, turned light blue when she partially changed, then went back to green.

"And I'm guessing during our training, thats what you mean, given how Star Devil, Cure La Mer, and I managed to surprise you. Working together, and taking on something much bigger then ourselves. Honestly, when somebody is willing to go three on one, they have confidence, and power. And know what they can and can't do.", she says.

The woman breathes out a little bit to let out a little bit of blue fog out of her mouth. "Also, since I awakened, and learned what my magicks are, my headaches....have become less. And I've learned that that was my instincts as a youkai screaming at me that there was danger around. To a certain extent, I still have the headaches, but I can use them to track youma...somewhat.", she says.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown gave a small nod, flipping through the book and... "Mmmm hm. Mm hm. Well, if you're going to trust someone with the fact you're part youkai, the alien is probably the one likely to keep it." Pause. "Midchildian, by the way, not human. We're similiar in many ways, just... not every way."

"And... yeah. I've had a lot of training. Though, despite all of my training, there are some magical people on this world who likely have more actual field experience than I do. The biggest difference is my people have been dealing with magic, other dimensions and time alterations for centuries. But this world? The nature of magic here?"

"Should I manage to get my report out? They're never going to believe that it could exist. The magic here is unlike anything seen in thousands of different dimensions and worlds. Outside of here? There is one type of magic. Here? There are hundreds. This entire world is... a lost logia of phenominal size and power."

"Magical induced headaches aren't entirely uncommon. Magic uses up a large amount of energy, so caloric and nutrient dense foods are very helpful." He motioned to her energy bars. "Which, I'm sure you've noticed. However, some magics can be dangerous or have negative effects. Would you object to me scanning you?"

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho nods her head. "Even Onmyoji magics have at least 5 different schools of magic. I'm still learning a lot about it.", she admits. The woman takes a deep breath though as she listens in. "I have no objection. The more I can learn, the more options I have later.", the woman says. Miho stretches slightly as she pulls out one of the protein bars, and gnaws on it a little bit.

"Yes, I've noticed that I have to eat much more then I did before awakening. Even transforming takes quite a bit out of me. And any injury, I get hungrier. I think...I heal faster, which means my body needs more fuel.", she tells. Being a fighter, she would notice things like that.

"I wish I could learn that barrier trick you did though. Creating a barrier around you, and then firing it out. If that spell I casted hadn't been an active defense, I think I would have been in serious danger.", Miho admits. "Next time, I think I'm going to keep 4 of the wolves with me, and leave two with the civvie...", she tells.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown gave a small nod. "The barrier is actually kind of... creating an arena, shifting the area within it just out of tune with this dimension, causing anyone not magical to be left behind. Sadly, I don't think just anyone can use it. I could teach you midchildian math if you like, but without a device to properly utilize it, it probably wouldn't help you much. But, who knows? Magic is strange here and there's no telling if you can find a way to do it with your own magic."

"And yes, magic does tend to result in faster healing. You are welcome to continue to attend the training sessions I host. While my knowledge is, primarily, with device magic, I am more than willing to offer any aid I can to other mages of this world. After all, while our magic may be different, tactics and application can have a sizeable impact on ones capabilities."

He then gave her a small smile, closing his book. "And I think that's all I'll need from you for the time being. Before we end this meeting, is there anything you'd like to ask me?"

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho shakes her head. "Nothing that I can think of at the moment. I mean, since you explained that its shifting of a dimension, it makes me think of the stories of travelling to other realms in legends. Like the spirit worlds.", she says. The woman focuses her mind a bit. "I would appreicate coming ot more of the training sessions. Learning from others, and meeting and seeing what others can do, I can change what I do to help them out better.", she says.

"Thank you for this meeting. I'm trying to make a network of people. I know there's a lot of magical people here, but I don't know if there's a place where we can gather safely.", Miho says. She doesn't know about the Shed yet.

Chrono Harlaown has posed:
Chrono Harlaown blinked a few times before nodding. "We're actually working on that. Trying to find a way to better protect the school from dark energy." He closed the book before walking to the shelf, sliding it into place. "Though, what you just said made me realize something."

"Are you aware of the shed?" Of course, once he got confirmation that she didn't... he gave her a small smile. "I think there's one more thing I should show you before we call this meeting to a close. Would you follow me out on the grounds? I think it's time you see the Shed." Pause. "... It's a magical hideout for the mages opposing obsidian."

Miho Inada has posed:
Miho blinks. Wait, there's actually a hideout?! She blinks a few times as she watches Chrono. "You're taking me to the shed?", the woman asks. This of course confuses her. Well, then again, it wouldn't be a much of a hideout if it was obivious. Miho however does follow Chrono, and learns about the Shed.
