It's an otherwise unassuming Friday morning at Radiant Heart Academy when it happens, and depending on your perspective (and latent energy), the 'what' happens varies. For the vast majority of Radiant Heart's student body, who are without magic at all, nothing happens other than the lights seem to get a little brighter momentarily, something that will be easily written off and forgotten.

       For those who wield magic free of the taint of Dark Energy, a calm strength washes over them, conveying a momentary sense of comforting, quiet strength. After the moment passes, it leaves behind just a tinge of positivity and a slightly lifted spirit, and like the access to magic is just a bit closer.

       The effects are most keenly felt for those channeling the corrupted power of Dark Energy. The initial wave feels like a sapping exhaustion, as though midway through a fight. That feeling fades and passes, and day-to-day life remains unaffected; but channeling and utilizing Dark Energy now takes a great deal more effort on the campus of the Academy. Even Duskporting, which is often one of the simplest and most basic abilities, usable even when heavily drained, requires focus and energy.

       Wandering, masterless Youma and Witches now shy away from the campus on their own, 'basic' youma cannot be summoned directly on the campus at all, and summoned youma forced onto the campus grounds begins to rapidly discorporate. Characters are unaffected except when they try to use Dark Energy, which is exhausting and difficult there, putting any fights there at a severe disadvantage. Using Dark Energy to locate or trace things on the campus grounds is effectively impossible. All Doors to Obsidian Tower on the campus itself have ceased functioning.
