The area around her narrowed, and she bumped into walls too close to be part of the regular zone of exploration. She filed a mental note to ask for wider sensory apparatus when she was able to ask for things. The creator's vibrations always mentioned upgrading her, and so far those upgrades have often happened according to schedule, which was exciting! She whirred her engine happily just thinking about it.
There have been a few burnouts, but as She had said, there are always times when you fall back. You have to try again. So this is Emily's chance to live that dream, and to explore! Bumping against the sides of the ducts, Emily mapped their length until...disaster!
Her front wheels were stuck. She'd lost grip, and they spun without purchase! Her rear wheels said that there was still movement happening, but there was a different effect from the front, that always meant that she'd hit something that tied up the wheels and impeded movement. Hm. Time to deal with our first real problem.
She can handle this. It's hard, but with enough effort she believed that she could not only recover, but actually move forward! Reversing her wheels, she put more power to her rear axle. Losing some grip, she gave an upset sound from deep in her gyros. Perhaps she could find a way to balance backwards, and regain grip? It's a hard one, a real conundrum worthy of her status as an explorer!
She rotated her rear steering, and managed to catch. Traction! Focusing on that, she carefully controlled her rear wheels, pulling back until, gasp! She caught traction on the front again! That, was, CLOSE! She almost went a full length over what could be a huge gap! Those advanced sensors would be a real boon, but she knows that the creator trusts her. And she can tidy just fine with what she has. It's a good life.
So. Four wheels on the ground again, she more carefully moves forward. When her front wheels started to dip, she paused quickly. Doing so she mapped the dangerous place, and found it to be passable. A hole in the vents! Perhaps even an updraft, her systems did seem to heat when nearer to it, but not at dangerous levels. Hm. her battery was getting a bit low, perhaps she should return soon.
But not yet First, she needed to see what was on the other side?
Soon, she had her answer, and she took this information home to the Creator. Proudly she emerged from the air duct, with valuable intel! On the other side of the uptake vent?? Wait for it, this is insane. You won't believe it.
There's MORE DUCTWORK! We have to charge higher levels, but ...so much to explore! She whirrs proudly as she backs into her charger, and the hand of the creator reaches down to touch her chassis. And there is love, as clear as day. How could she ever let her down?
Happy whirrs. Happy whirrs. Then sleep, it was a good first adventure.
