Background
- 1 Nanoha, until relatively recently, was a normal nine year old. Going to school, helping at her family's bakery. It was a quaint, satisfying, if a bit lonely, life. Her parents have each other, her older siblings are close, and then there's her. She's always felt like a third wheel.
This was her life, cheerful if a bit maudlin, until she discovered an injured Yuuno. After taking him to the vet, he calls her later as an unstable jewel seed attacks him. She arrives and is given Raising Heart. She uses the device, with amazing power for her age, and seals the Lost Logia away.
When Yuuno needed her help, in the guise of a ferret before she knew anything weird was going on, she had to help. Her nature won't allow someone, or thing, suffering if she can stop it. When his true nature was revealed and his request made, she almost hesitated. The dangerous nature of it, the potential for harm to come to everyone if she accepted gave her pause. Her nature won in the end. It was a way for her to help. Not only Yuuno, but the world itself.
Now, with this power, she stands ready to face things that a child should never have to. Pain, suffering, terrors beyond the ken of Man. She isn't afraid. She has a purpose now, a calling. She has the power to stand when so many simply do not. It would be wrong not to. She will face whatever it takes to see this world safe.
Since then, she's been practicing her magic, going to school and hunting Jewel Seeds. She hasn't yet encountered the sad, blonde girl doing the same, but when that happens, it will be a clash of tiny titans.
Personality
- 1 Nanoha is a velvet glove wrapped around a core of iron. It's a very, very thick glove to be sure, but there is steel in this little girl. She is nice to literally everyone. /Everyone/. Even her enemies. Even the bitterest, most vile creatures she faces. If it can be spoken to, she tries to talk it out. If it can be reasoned with, she tries to reason with it.
If it can't, it faces her unmitigated power. She will take wounds herself to try and talk her enemies out of fighting, to change. To feel the light of hope and friendship. To stand with her as a force for good. If it doesn't work, she doesn't hold back.
Other than that, she is generally very kind, well behaved and affectionate. She has a certain joy of living, enjoying new experiences, places and people.
That being said, she does have moments where she feels isolated. She's the fifth member of her family. Her father has her mother, her sister is close with her brother, but Nanoha feels like a fifth wheel sometimes. She tries not to let it get to her, she knows she's loved and other people have it worse, but feelings aren't rational.
She's a good student and studies enough. When she's not studying, she's working in her family's cafe. When she's not doing that, she's out with Yuuno, practicing her magic, or hunting jewel seeds.
Nanoha, however, has no idea what her hopes and dreams are. She claims to have no direction, or she didn't before she received Raising Heart. For now, she's concentrating on the Jewel Seeds. After that, she'll worry about what's to come. She, at this point, dreams of protecting people with her power, and turning enemies into friends.
- 2 Magic is new and exciting. It's a power she never knew she had. It's something she can use to help others who can't help themselves. To protect her home, family and friends from things that they are unequipped to handle.
Nanoha has two goals. One: Collect the Jewel Seeds for Yuuno and seal them away so they can't hurt anyone. Two: She wants to meet the mysterious blonde girl who seeks the same things she does. She wants to make friends with her and show her the way.
Nanoha's best friends are Arisa Bunnings and Suzuku Tsukimara. Nanoha's family is not struggling, but they look absolutely dirt poor next to these two. That said, they are fast friends and do almost everything together. Almost. Nanoha's secret life is beginning to put strain on the relationship, and Arisa is suspicious and does not like secrets.
That said, Nanoha loves the two girls like they were family, and it hurts that she can't share her new life with them. Maybe someday.
Yuuno is her other best friend, and mentor. The independant mage speds most of his time transformed into a ferret, which only makes her like him more. (She loves the cute things). So much of his time, in fact, that she doesn't even know that he's a transformed person! He acts as her familiar and binder, but she cares for him deeply, like he's another sibling amost. If ou want to make her mad, hurt Yuuno.
The elephant in the room is Fate. Nanoha doesn't know a lot about the girl save she is incredibly powerful, and looks heartbreakingly sad. Nanoha being Nanoha, she doesn't want to fight the other girl. She wants to help her. She wants to find out why she's so sad and help her through it. Of course, the fact that Fate is after the Jewel Seeds puts them in conflict, that doesn't mean there can't be reasoning with her, or if necessary, Befriending (with a laser). She is fairly confident that, if she could convince Fate to /talk/ rather than come at her with a beam scythe and lightning, that she could fix everything with a hug and some kind words. She's a /bit/ off, but that's something she'll find out later.

Powers
- 1 Nanoha is a highly mobile battle platform. She is not tough, but her overwhelming power makes it so she rarely needs to be. Her fighting style is, quite simply, beam spam. She saturates the area with high powered magical beams like some kind of shoot-em-up video game. She is a fast flier and highly mobile, but some of her incantations take a great deal of setup which leaves her open to retaliation.
That said, the girl does have some versatility. Her overwhelming power is usable with defensive shields, binding spells and possibly most important, sealing. Her incredible strength, while overwhelmingly effective in offense, lets her be capable at support and often surprisingly powerful defensively. Protection is a low power shielding spell. Nanoha can deflect things that it probably should shatter under due to her high mana output.
