Chrono Harlaown's Sheet
Background
Chrono's history branches off from canon in that when in pursuit of the jewel seeds, their ship ended up getting too close to the magical black hole of earth. Their navigation systems were damaged, leaving them stranded. In the emergency situation, most of the personnel of the Arthra abandoned ship, setting up their beacons to be recovered by other TSAB operatives. A skeleton crew, including Chrono and his mother, remained behind. In their attempts to escape, their damaged navigation system eventually resulted in the ship being torn apart through space and time.
In such an emergency, Chrono and the remaining mages erected a barrier to protect themselves before teleporting away to the nearest hospitable locale. However, due to the nature of said spell the time and place varied wildly. When Chrono awoke, he was in the middle of a crater, surrounded by the devices of his fellow TSAB agents in their inactive states. For a short while he believed he was alone, the sole survivor.
But, as fortune would have it, he did encounter another member of the TSAB. Unfortunately, he then uncovered the truth of this strange, magical anomaly. The TSAB agent had no idea who he was and barely any idea who they were. They couldn't recognize magic, or their device and had never heard of the TSAB. His attempts to remind them only seemed to cause them pain. Finally, giving up, Chrono determined he was alone here. Something made most creatures here unable to recognize magic and worse, it made them forget it if they already knew. His task was clear. Locate the remaining TSAB agents and get them back to TSAB space.
Unfortunately, he was still operating in unsafe territory with threats he didn't understand. He eventually ran into one of the first agents of darkness. While he was victorious in the end, the fight left him damaged, to say the least. Forcing him to send out a short ranged SOS to the nearest active device.
Fortunately, there was one within range. At a small, humble little curry restaurant...
Personality
Chrono is what some might call a bit uptight. Others would likely say he has a storage device rammed so far up his backside it's amazing he doesn't speak midchildan. Since his father's death he has taken his role as a protector incredibly seriously, allowing him to rise through the ranks of the TSAB at an astounding rate. He tends to be very focused on his duty, being more than willing to use even underhanded tactics in order to succeed at his mission.
Fortunately, he sees his mission as protecting both the lost agents of TSAB and the inhabitants of this world. As the sole qualified agent of the TSAB, not to mention the only one who seems to still have their memories of magic, he sees it as his duty to represent the TSAB to the best of his ability. Additionally, while he can be a lot uptight, he does see it as a flaw, especially considering his current environment. He doesn't have the TSAB to fall back on now so he knows he needs to adapt.
While he tries to act like he has a stone heart and will do whatever the job requires, he's a lot softer than he admits. He will almost always choose protecting others even over his duty.
Chrono also has a few rather obvious weaknesses. He's very easily flustered by affection, trying to escape it whenever he can as he really doesn't know how to respond to it. He's also very uncomfortable around cats, especially cat familiars. He won't say why. He just is. Stop asking questions. Finally, he is incredibly protective of his mother. While he will say his duty is to get all of the surviving members of the Arthra off earth, his primary goal truly is to save her. Especially because her world is so filled with magic that having it removed from her mind would remove much of who she was. As her son, he sees it as his duty to get her back where she can be safe, even if he, himself, won't be joining her.
Chrono has spent most of his life being the 'powerful, talented one'. Even if his linker core isn't very strong, he has found ways to get around it considering how powerful and respected he is. He's now finding himself on equal footing with people his own age and even younger. This is incredibly unnatural and he finds it incredibly off putting, but he's trying to make do. Something is going on in this world and as a representative of the TSAB, it's his duty to find out what.
While Chrono generally takes everything quite seriously, there are a few things he doesn't. Primarily, school. Time at RHA is just a cover for him so, in most situations, he will ignore the work and focus on research and/or training instead of the classes. The only classes he DOES pay attention to is social studies and history. Otherwise, he will record and use his device's programs to do the tasks for him while he dedicates his energy to more efficient and important goals.
Powers
Magic: Chrono knows a LOT of different magic. Shooting, elemental, speed, control, flight, Chrono has trained his entire life in these skills and while he struggles with extreme cost mana spells, his versatility in magic is not to be underestimated. Combined with the fact he uses a storage device, as opposed to an intelligent device, means he can cast far faster and more efficiently than most others, but lacks the support and auto-casting of an AI.
Ice and binding magic: Chrono's specialties, these magics are the ones he has the most practice with and generally his fallbacks. While he can perform other magic, magic under these categories are his most efficient, even allowing him to perform extremely mana intensive spells under the right circumstances. His preferred spell for this is a delayed bind, utilized by setting a trap to lure his opposition into.
S2U: Chrono's storage device. He's had it for years and is incredibly proficient in it. When not in use, it takes the form of a playing card. While it doesn't have an AI, it is more than capable of running the many programs of a storage device at a much quicker pace due to its dedicated processing power.
Durandal: A high powered, ice focused device. As for its capabilities, it's an ice focused device with funnels/bits. It will allow him access to more powerful ice spells and, when cartridges begin to be used, access a program called 'Ostwind' to use S2U to emulate the cartridge system (once it enters the server). This device doesn't work well with fire magic, requiring him to switch to S2U in order to use fire magic effectively.
Other devices: Following the crash, the only hint towards the locations of the missing operatives of the TSAB were their devices. While he has the authority to wield them and their specialties, he is neither attuned to them nor would he be if he could. He is using them to try and locate the ones they are attuned to, in order to rescue them.
TSAB authority: This means nothing here, but old habits die hard. He will often attempt to arrest others with the authority of the TSAB.
Elite soldier training: Chrono has been training his entire life as a soldier. He is in peak physical health and has an incredible grasp on the intricacies of magic. Most of which is useless here, as he has NEVER encountered anything like dark energy. In a strange way, he is a rookie all over again, albeit a tough one.
Full drive: Chrono cannot activate this at this time for any of his devices. In the event he can eventually use it with Durandal, his would likely be related to eternal coffin, a spell that freezes everything around him and is meant to permanently freeze his target.
Familiar
A lidth jay named Fenix. Her human form will basically be a tall girl with blue hair (like her master), red eyes. Officially, the contract will be for her to help him find the members of the Arthra, as a bird who can fly places is useful to search the city. Her true purpose will be multi-faceted. As a bird, she will be his comfort animal because my gosh the boy needs something to just hold and pet. She will also serve as his 'guardian', primarily for paperwork reasons because people need an adult for things. I don't know if this is going to actually ever be relevant, but just in case it is.
Finally, she may at time serve as a support in combat, though this will likely be a rare occurance as she'd only be able to use the same magic he can and they'd both be drawing from his linker core, so basically as a NPC that can be called on when scenes need more 'bodies', but otherwise isn't there in a combat sense.
She'd have three forms,
human form, which is just a really tall girl (Setsuna height and inspired, I got permission from her.)
Normal bird form, albeit big for her species (her standard form which she'll spend most of her time in)
Combat/phoenix, form in which she'll basically just be a massive bird of fire and ice. While she can fight as a standard human, her combat form will be her primary 'We need another NPC to fight' form. She doesn't have a half human/half bird form, the phoenix form taking that role. Her methods of fighting will be fire and ice spells, while she may be able to use binds she rarely does.
In terms of personality, she will be very direct, firm and protective of her master. Not in a 'ha ha, Chrono's getting hugged into boobs' way, but akin to a big sister/actual mother. He is her mage and she treats him with the respect that warrants. There is no flirting, in fact she doesn't find humans the least bit attractive and any commentary implying otherwise would just get her to glare at them. In the end... she's his familiar. He offers her food, shelter, protection and power. She offers aid, comfort, companionship (as in an actual companion) and someone who can have his back in the occasions he requires it and nobody else is around.
The current plan for them to meet is that he will come across her in a trap set by poachers while on a long range scouting mission (attempting to find more signs of the Arthra). He'll rescue her, then offer her the contract, she accepts. The official term is 'His assistant until he is able to rescue those of the Arthra, but the contract can be extended if both agree or severed by either party without the other's consent.'
