Izou Saitou's Sheet
Background
Hailing originally from the Silver Millenium era, Zoisite was once many, many years ago the sworn protector of Prince Endymion, heir to the Golden Kingdom of Earth. Though it was forbidden, his prince and the princess of the Moon Kingdom became close, and this fact was twisted and warped by a servant of Prince Endymion known as Beryl, using it to sway Zoisite and the other Shitennou, the prince's knights, to act against him and the Moon Kingdom.
The loss of life that followed was devastating, and included Endymion himself as well as his lover, the princess. It led the Queen of the Moon Kingdom to use her powers to send the souls of those affected by the war, Zoisite himself included, far into the future.
When Zoisite was reborn, it was not a pleasant experience. The family that he was thrust into against his will was not one filled with love and warmth, and they took a special dislike to young Zoisite. So it was not a terribly difficult decision when Hematite, servant to Queen Beryl, approached him about running away to join Obsidian. In fact, it was easy: something about this stranger seemed to resonate with Zoisite, and as he awoke to his former existence as one of the Shitennou, the connection grew ever stronger.
Because, of course, Hematite was the reborn Endymion, and even after his betrayal, some part of Zoisite remained loyal.
Several years of subservience to Beryl's Dark Kingdom and the Obsidian Corporation as a whole that followed, with Zoisite an especially eager follower, taking joy in the pain he meted out. It wasn't until the resurfacing of Princess Serenity, Prince Endymion's star-crossed lover, that things began to change. Sailor Moon and the Sailor Senshi, as well as other magical fighters, came forth to fight against Obsidian's efforts, and eventually allegiances began to change.
However, it wasn't until Hematite changed sides that it all fell apart. And now Zoisite, newly purified thanks to the energies of Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity, must figure out what to do with his new life as a force for good instead of evil.
Personality
While his loyalty to Prince Endymion was ultimately corrupted by Beryl, it was the strength of that loyalty, the deep-seated faith and trust, that allowed it to be taken advantage of in the first place. While the specific means that Beryl employed to sway Zoisite to her side have been lost to history (or so Zoisite himself insists), the truth of it remains: he failed, and continued to fail for far too long a time.
Still, whatever guilt may linger over his choices does not change the type of person Zoisite is, at heart. Vicious and clever in equal measure, he always has a quick, cutting word to use against those who displease him in some way. Though this may now be harnessed towards those that are on the side of evil does not necessarily mean that his allies will always be spared. It translates well to the battlefield, where he is more than willing to use sneaky, underhanded methods so long as they lead him to victory.
That is not to say there's no good in him, though. He is a force of nature when someone wrongs the people he cares about, most often Prince Endymion and his fellow Shitennou, but his heart isn't entirely close to others joining the ranks of his important people. In fact, it might be his concern for others that prompts him to make his pointed comments, as a drive to see them at their best might linger behind the words.
Not that Zoisite would ever admit to such a thing. His motives are his own to know and not to tell, so most of the time others are left guessing at his intentions. He likes it that way, both as a means to position himself advantageously and, frankly, just to give off the appearance of mystery and allure. Vanity is well within his wheelhouse, after all.
