- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
Ryoko had been tasked with keeping an eye on Sarah ever since she showed up at Radiant Heart, and after a couple of weeks of being her roommate, Ryoko could see why. The girl was made entirely of misguided optimism and misplaced trust and needed a keeper just to make sure she didn't spill the magical beans to every third person she met.
Ryoko had been taking her to all sorts of places. Getting her acclimated to this world. The girl did a lot of things, but one thing she didn't do was half-ass a job. She was going to keep tabs on Sarah but also keep her out of trouble.
Which is why she ended up dragging her roommate to the best curry restaurant in town. As she steps in through the doors of Korma Chameleon at dinnertime, she's wearing one of her many hand-sewn pantsuits in black with a crimson blouse that's open at the top button and her trusty Louboutins. She's pretty dressed up for curry, but it's just how she is.
"You haven't had food until you've had a good curry, I'm telling you," Ryoko said as they stepped thru the door. "But the question is. Do you like spicy food or not?"
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah ooh'd and aah'd at everything in the fancy restaurant. She'd taken to wearing assorted button down shirts, sleeves always rolled whether they were short or long sleeved, top buttons undone, and typically in monochrome colors. Jeans were her FAVORITE. She wasn't sure what material it was made of, but they were comfortable and stretched to fit her large frame. And shoes named after a Doc Marten? She had no idea who that was, but they must be really awesome to have a kick-ass shoe names after them! And, she'd taken to Ryoko like a fly to honey. In this super strange world, her roommate had taken her under her wing, and she was beyond grateful to call her best friend. Of this world. Because Catra would always be best friend.
Tonight, she wore a short-sleeved, blood red button down, worn in her normal fashion, tucked into a black pair of skinny jeans. She'd cuffed those too, so that the hems were right above where her Doc Martens stopped at on her legs. Having arms for the first time EVER, she'd found bracelets to be cute and fun. So, around each human wrist, she wore assorted leather bands and a hand-made thread bracelet or two-yes, she had picked up a hobby or ten since being on Earth.
Sarah sniffed the air in one giant inhale, grinning, "Oh MAN, it smells delicious in here Ryoko! I think I like spicy, I'm not sure if we have spicy back at home, but let me taste whatever that is I'm smelling. Cuz man oh man, I'm starving!"

"Then I'll just order for you, why don't you go grab us a booth," Ryoko said, and then walked up to the register and ordered. Two lamb vindaloos, one of them spicy, one of them extra spicy, and a couple of milk teas. The milk is what cuts the spice, after all. Just a few minutes later she had a tray with their food and drinks on it and was carrying it over to the booth, sliding in next to Sarah.
"Okay," she said, handing the merely spicy vindaloo aside to Sarah. It's a bowl full of steamed basmati rice slathered in a brown sauce with cubes of brown meat in it. "This is spicy, but it's delicious. The milk tea is sweet and will help with the spice, as does the rice."
Ryoko watched in anticipation of Sarah's first bite. She wanted to see what the girl thought of her favorite dish. As she watched she found herself obsessing over the girl's look. They'd been assembling her wardrobe together because no-one under Ryoko's care was going to be poorly dressed. The problem Ryoko had was that Sarah was just, well, really handsome in her button downs, denim, and Doc Martens.
Unlike a certain former roommate, it made Ryoko want to be her friend. It made her want to share these experiences. It made her want to be a good roommate and Earth guide. This girl Sarah had definitely gotten under her skin.
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah grinned and nodded, heading off to grab a seat in one of the booths in the back. She couldn't get rid of her years of training in Etheria, no matter how hard she tried. She had to have her back to the wall so that she could survey her surroundings, when she wasn't distracted by all the neat Earth things, of course. Her chest warmed as Ryoko sat next to her and she listened raptly, her eyes wide and engaged as Ryoko explained what she'd ordered for them both.
Nodding, she nudged her roommate gently, shoulder to shoulder, "Thanks roomie, for everything. I'd be so lost without all your help." And then, she took a bite of the vindaloo. The noise she made, was not appropriate in volume, nor was it appropriate for being in a public space, surrounded by people, sitting next to her roommate that she was starting to have a crush on. Blushing bright red, Sarah stammered, "I-um, yeah! This is the best thing I've ever tasted!" She then proceeded to take a massive bite and just stare into her bowl to avoid eye contact with Ryoko... and everyone else in the restaurant.
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
"It's nothing," Ryoko lies with a dismissive wave of her hand. It was everything. Ryoko had been giving her everything to look out for this girl for two weeks. This girl who had the audacity to be incredibly gorgeous and handsome. "Glimmer asked me to look after you. I'm just hoping that by spending time with me you learn how to keep secrets by osmosis."
She watched as Sarah took her first bite of the vindaloo and grinned at her reaction. She gave Sarah a moment to sit there with the embarrassment of having declared the food the best so loudly. Her shame was so cute.
Why was Ryoko like this? She didn't have time for relationships. Besides. She was kind of dating Glimmer, wasn't she? She'd at least gone to Prom with Glimmer. But they'd both been so busy, and Ryoko specifically busy with Sarah, that they'd not seen each other as much.
She didn't know what she was doing, but she knew that fortune favored the bold. She took a scoop of rice and extra spicy vindaloo up with her spoon and held it out for Sarah, with her other hand underneath it. "If you thought that was good, try this. It's so much better." Where better means spicier.
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah laughed, "Pffffft, I know how to keep secrets! You're so funny, Ryoko!" Her eyes sparkling at their inside joke, both of them knowing how terrible she'd been at keeping her otherworld-ness to herself. She enjoyed her roommate's personality and the way she'd taken care of her for these last few weeks. Ryoko didn't know it, but Sarah would forever be loyal to her, no matter what.
Squealing excitedly, she bent over and took the bite that was offered to her, looking at Ryoko as she did so. Moaning, again. Way too loudly. "That's even better!! Can we get that for me next time! That feels funny on my tongue, but funny in a good way, ya know? Oh, I haven't even tried the drink. What's it called again?" And she grabbed her cup to take a sip, not waiting for her friend's response.
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
There were so many differences between Hime and Sarah that the list could fill several volumes for sure. But the most important one, really, is that Sarah clearly loved tsunderes. There's no other way anyone could find Ryoko's personality enjoyable. And yet here she was sitting shoulder to shoulder with Ryoko smiling and eating curry.
She watched as Sarah took a bite of her extra spicy, her eyes watching the other girl's mouth. She bites her own lip to stop from giggling when Sarah moans again and then smiles. She unceremoniously picks up both bowls and just switches them. "It's called milk tea, and there's no need to wait until next time. I'll just eat the regular spicy. You deserve the best."
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah was pretty sure she'd do just about anything to get Ryoko to smile again. She was so serious all the time. It made her extremely happy to be a source of happiness for the girl. Nudging her roomie's shoulder again, she grinned, "You do too, ya know? Don't worry, I'll make sure you get the best too." And she dove back into to her delicious dinner.
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
Her delicious and now extra spicy dinner. The milk tea was definitely a smart call as it is not only yummy but effective at neutralizing the heat. "Oh yes, of course. Next time we will both get the extra spicy. But as this is your first time, and the spicy is perfect acceptable, trading seemed to be the best course of action to make it the best first time possible."
Why does she even care about making it her best first time possible? Giving up her favorite meal for something less than just so that this girl, this gorgeous girl, could have the perfect first curry experience? It was just that she was doing what Glimmer asked. That's right. She was looking out for Sarah.
Rather than confront those thoughts any more, though, Ryoko did what any girl in this situation would. She started eating. Delicious curry distracting her from her thoughts.
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah finished up her bowl before Ryoko did. She had stuffed her face, it was too good and she just wanted more of it! Stretching her arms up above her head, she placed one of her arms on the back of the booth behind Ryoko's shoulders. Because it was comfortable. No other reason at all.
Looking sideways at the other girl, she grinned. She really was beautiful, in a stoic, grumpy way. Ryoko actually reminded her a bit of Catra, if she was being honest. But with her roommate, the feelings were different. More similar to the ones she had for Perfuma. Her chest ached for a moment, before she mentally shook the sadness away. She'd get back to Perfuma one day. She knew that her beautiful partner would support her in making new friends... and maybe more.
So, there she sat, watching her roommate and friend finish up her less-spicy food because she'd sacrificed her own desires for Sarah's happiness, "Ya know something roomie? You're pretty great!"
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
Ryoko also mowed through her curry pretty fast, but for entirely different reasons. Yes it was her favorite. Yes she was hungry. But really? She was eating her feelings. She had too many feelings, and the more she focused on the curry, the less she had to think about them.
And then Sarah put her arm along the back of the bench. The tall girl had been so careful to be respectful of Ryoko's space ever since their first meeting. She had only had to draw that boundary once. Sarah's arm was so carefully not touching her at all. But it was behind her, and Ryoko could just nestle right in against her, and it would be so nice, she was sure of it.
She had too many feelings. She ate her last bite and then reached for her milk tea, taking a sip before leaning in against Sarah and laying her head against her shoulder and sighing. "I know."
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah knew that it'd feel nice. To hold her. Making a small sound of happiness in the back of her throat, she moved her arm off the back of the booth and wrapped it securely around Ryoko. Without any hesitation or thinking it through, she planted a soft kiss of affection on the crown of her head, "Well, in any case. I'll keep on reminding you! In case you forget or something. Did you want more food? More drink? What else do you wanna do tonight?"
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
Ryoko lifted her head enough to drain the rest of her milk tea, then she set it down on the table and turned completely into Sarah, her arm draped across the tall girl's abdomen, and her face resting against her shoulder. The kiss elicits a quiet hum, a purr almost, and Ryoko's lips curl up involuntarily. Her hand sliding a little more around Sarah's waist and then hugging tightly.
"This is nice," she murmurs, sounding for once like a teenaged girl and not a boardroom executive who just happens to be seventeen. "I hadn't really thought past dinner."
Considering for a moment how she could use this time to scout, she pondered where she might want to release Grimm. The park seemed like a great place to cause havoc. "Have you ever been to a zoo?"
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah hummed in agreement, giving her a forward kiss and grinning, "It is really nice. Thank you for taking me out for dinner, Ryoko!" Curbing the impulse to just, pick the other girl up and squeeze her into the biggest hug, she rubbed her back instead, "I have no idea what this 'zoo' is. Is it fun?"
- Ryoko Gushiken has posed:
"You're welcome," Ryoko says, softly, sounding rather pleased. "You don't know a place until you've had its food, and Korma's some of the best food in the city, if you ask me," she says. And many other students. It's popular. She grins as it becomes apparent Sarah does not know what a zoo is, just imagining that tall, strong, adorable girl looking at all the cute animals made Ryoko giggle just a little. "You're going to have a blast," she said, and then started to slide out of the booth, grabbing hold of Sarah's hand along the way to urge her to follow.
- Scorpia has posed:
Sarah beamed at the sound of the giggle coming from the girl in her arms. Squeezing her slightly, she laughs, "I can't wait! Teach me everything!" Discovering this world with Ryoko had bonded Sarah to her, in a way neither one of them realized. She held on to her roommate's hand firmly, intent on not letting the other girl pull away yet, and allowed herself to be led out of the restaurant.
