Cast of Characters: | Melona Mizu |
Heavy breathing. The sensation of a cold steel pipe in her hands. Someone calling out to her, referring to her as a name that sounded like static.
Everything sounded wrong, distorted. She was standing in front of a massive figure, one of her best friends standing to the side of it, holding a small whittling knife that he always carried with him. Her other friends...
... She didn't want to think about her other friends.
They were there too. But their eyes had long since closed.
Behind her was twisted, mad laughter. The occasional sound of a gunshot to encourage them forward. To fight against the... giant... incomprehensible thing in front of them.
Her friend lunged towards the giant thing, a massive tattered and twisted thing. It wasn't how it looked originally. Everything is wrong. But right too.
Her friend succeeded when he lunged. He stabbed it.
It stabbed back.
A splash of crimson on the ground.
Melona's breathing grew faster, more ragged, more panicked.
She turned to try to run.
BANG
Melona's eyes snap open where she'd drifted off in the metalworking club at the academy. A place she found herself sleeping often, since she usually spent as long as possible *not* sleeping, only falling asleep when exhaustion forced it. She had a roommate, but frankly the two had barely seen each other, since Melona only went to that room when she needed to change clothes or take a shower.
She slowly pushed herself back up to her feet, rubbing her head where she'd struck it when she passed out on her feet. That was going to sting for a while. Not that it mattered. It would heal, just like everything else.
Well. Not everything.
Meeting with Mami the other day had been bothering her. That unending warmth that the woman exuded.
And yet it was over far too quickly. And she was alone again.
Alone.
She missed having friends.
She can't have them again, but... perhaps... with Mami...
At least she could not be alone anymore.
She could be doing something worthwhile.
She turned to quietly leave the metalworking club, pulling out her phone to make a call.
"...Hey, Mami. I know it's late..."
"...You said something about training, maybe? ...Yeah, let's do it."
Her soul gem flickered.
The darkness that consumed half of it growing ever so slightly lighter, if only for the moment.
