"You summoned me, Queen Mirage?" Phantom stood again in the throne room of Mirage Castle, immediately realizing that noone else was there. Usually, this would make him feel good, the center of Mirage's attention. But for some reason? He felt uneasy. "What may I do for you?"
"Ah, Phantom!" Mirage responded, her smile small, showing warmth - which should have been another warning sign to her General. "I was told you have a new disguise, may I see it?" she asks, with an eagerness in her eyes as she leaned against her throne. "Please?" came her addition.
There was a momentary pause, before Phantom raised his hand. Summoning dark energy, it swirled around him in crimson bonds, and when he reappeared, he was slightly slumped in a slacker pose with a 90s grunge band shirt, ripped jeans, sneakers and his bracer had become a bracelet on his arm.
"Oh ho ho ho!" Mirage laughed. "How adorable, Phan--Phantom!" she announced gleefully, before she reached around the side of the throne. "I have brought you a gift, my right hand! You can thank me later!" The large box was held out for Phantom to accept.
A gift? For him? Phantom immediately felt a skip in his chest - excitement? Fear? He wasn't sure how to parse it as he accepted the box. "Of course, Your Majesty. Thank you." And with that, he started to open it, a confused look crossing over his eyes as he pulled out the orange and blues of a school uniform. "What is this?" he asks.
"Oh! Your new assignment!" Mirage trilled softly, eagerly, her red eyes warm with delight. "I have been informed by certain sources that there is a school in the city and that there may be Pretty Cures there. I want you, my favorite general, to infiltrate the school in your guise, blend in, and find the Pretty Cures and root them out!" She glances at one of the mirrors, a reflection of the graveyard of mirrored Cures set in it. "...you need to cultivate your garden, Phantom."
There was a lift of his brows as he considered the box, and then the orders. And for a moment, he realized what the date was. "This was an excellent April Fools, Your Majesty!" he started, assuming that clearly, this must be some kind of prank she's pulling on him.
Mirage's demeanor and expression changed, tensing, growing darker. "This is no prank, Philip, and the only fool here is you." she pointed out, a frown on her features. "You have been doing things outside the scope of your duties, and if you are going to do that, I will put to good use. I have already spoken with Human Resources. You can ask to meet with Yuuhi-san, should you require more information." A quiet pause, and then she speaks again, her voice quiet, but filled with daggers, "You will go to this school, or I will school you. Understand?"
Phantom blanched for a moment, a lump suddenly in his throat. He had heeded Scorn's words, and decided to investigate things on his own, and never thought to ask Mirage if it was okay. And now, it was coming back to bite him firmly on the rump. "Ah... of course, Your Majesty. I will do so immediately. Was there anything else?" he asked, fingers closing around the box.
"No... yes, actually." Mirage leveled her eyes on Phantom. "Don't forget the mission. There is no need for love in the world. Only despair. That includes the simple loves, my dear Phantom." she said with a silken tongue. "Or joy is only at the cost of other's. Do well to remember."
Phantom felt his blood run cold. "Yes, of course." With a quick bow of his head, Phantom dismissed himself through one of his mirrors, carrying his uniform with him. Like it or not, Philip Toms was going to be a student at Radiant Heart Academy.
