Background

Since moving to Manchester, Lincoln's parents have enjoyed a long and successful relationship. As a result, he's been raised in an incredibly safe and secure environment. His mother Nicole (Nicky) and father Malcolm (Mal) are well respected in their local community. Mal is a builder who has built his own little construction business, comfortable success that has further exacerbated Lincoln's domestic stability, while Nicky has pursued her career as a hairdresser. Of course, the other word that might be used to describe Lincoln's upbringing is sheltered.

Lincoln's academic performance could best be described as perfectly middle of the road, having attended Manchester Grammar School. His teachers have often cited him as appearing terribly unmotivated and the kind of boy who could achieve well--if only he'd apply himself.

Percy Hedgeworth, the son of a wealthy school sponsor, bullied Lincoln for a time in his earlier years. Older, larger, and with much more influence given his father's station, Percy's behaviour managed to slip by uncorrected until he ultimately broke Lincoln's cherished Tamagotchi. The boy was inconsolable for at least a week, possibly two, and attempts by his mother to replace the toy were met with indifference.

Instead, Lincoln took to football. After all, he was living in the home of the world's greatest football team! It was this succ ess that broke the period of bullying and offset his mediocre grades. Lincoln, it turned out, was a natural kicker and, up until leaving for Tokyo, Lincoln was a staple on the school's football team.

It was football, however, that would ultimately lead to his discovery of the Dark Roast and their quest for the Eternal Sweet Aroma. One evening after a particularly long practice session, Lincoln stumbled across commotion within the science block of the school. There he found the chemistry teacher, Robert Timms, brewing something most devious. A concoction, wrought from what he'd interrogated from a small green chipmunk, about the possible locations of the Leaves of the Sweet Aroma. In the process, he revealed his plan to steal the sweetness from the students with his insidious cold brew energy drinks (complete with edgy logo graphics) in order to bolster his own mad genius. Dastardly!

Lincoln, never one to stand by cruel animal testing, managed to rescue the chipmunk. Who was not a chipmunk at all. It was, in fact, a Fairy from the Aroma Kingdom and his name was Oolong. Cure Matcha was born and, together, they managed to foil Robert Timms' plans--himself, in fact, a Dark Roast Elite better known as Professor Java!

Not long after, an invitation found its way to Lincoln, promising a bright future at Radiant Heart Academy on a football scholarship. And, all the way away in Tokyo, his parents hope that his distance from troubles will allow him to flourish.

Personality

Lincoln is a clever and observant boy, though that much might not be directly obvious from his school records. Intellectual pursuits aren't particularly interesting to him, but a quick mind allows him to see the sorts of things others might miss. Sometimes that quick mind connects a little to easily to a quick tongue and may say things that he will later regret. On the other hand, it allows him to be very earnest and some might say that he wears his heart on his sleeve. An ambivert by nature, Lincoln can enjoy company or leave it and manages to find comfort in both.

As an avid football player (and fan), Lincoln is athletically gifted. It is the one time where any shred of reservation lets go. On the pitch, he is confident and capable, absolutely certain of himself and his abilities. Removed from his element, however, and he is far more reserved and self- conscious.

Lincoln is a true romantic at heart. He cries at the mildest hint of sap in movies and longs for the day he can find true romance for himself. Lincoln abhors animal cruelty and has a strong sense of fairness, and won't hesitate to act out for either.

Focus

Lincoln is Cure Matcha, a Pretty Cure with a motif based on Green Matcha Tea. His theme is Making Connections, Understanding, Passing on Knowledge, Rejuvination, Good Health and Resilience.

He derives his magic from Oolong, a member of the Royal Court in the Kingdom of Aroma, whose power resides in a jewel-bearing golden teaspoon. Roman uses this in conjunction with a Tea Set in order to both Transform and to unlock Power Ups.

Style

As a Pretty Cure, Cure Matchia wears an extravagant black and green outfit in a loose Ouji Fashion style, reflecting a Tea Motif. He fights with magical and melee attacks.

Powers

As Cure Matcha, Lincoln's abilities showcase a variety of cold and calm based attacks. Lincoln can infuse the calming properties of tea into his melee. The more he strikes an opponent, the more that calming effect is felt.

Twirling his teaspoon like a baton, Lincoln brings the scoop to his lips for a kiss. As the spoon is lowered away, he blows a kiss in the direction of a target and unleashes a dusting of sleep-inducing matcha powder. Shaped like the green-tinted lips from which it hails, the dust smashes into the target and sprays in a puff to induce calm and sleepiness in those who breathe it. This is called "Midnight Matcha".

Lincoln can gather green steam from his teacup. It swirls around him until it forms a bubble, where it is kicked like a soccer ball at a target. Upon impact, it explodes in a cloud of freezing cold green steam. He calls this attack the "Bubble Blast".

With a swirl of his teaspoon and a ribbon of green steam, Lincoln can cast forth a barrage of razor -sharp tea leaves and camellias at an enemy. These buffet and cut in a whirlwind of petals and leaves. It is the steam-ribbon itself that becomes the assaulting leaves. This is called "Floral Flurry".

Using his teaspoon, Lincoln can summon a giant chasen upon his opponent like a giant cage. There, it whisks them around while creating a frothy green bubbling. Slowly, that bubbling overtakes the chasen itself to purify the target. This is "Whisky Business".

When accompanied by Cure Chai, they can together summon a giant teapot, covered with camellias, around an enemy. Into this teapot, a giant teabag falls to pin them in place as the lid closes over and their darkness is boiled away as steam that shoots from the spout. The steam is pink and green. This attack they have called the "Tag-team Teapot".
