Left in the Headmistress' Inbox

<formal address/greeting/opening, involving Headmistress-sama, self identification, etc>

Please, can I trust Maryam Siddig not to work for Obsidian or some other shadowy tentacle organization of doom? I'd really like to trust her, but she said you were concerned for our safety. I mean, obviously you are, but I'm asking now, can I trust her? Y/N (circle one)

(Sorry. I am under the impression that the more you talk to us, the more you forget, so I want to avoid making you forget anything.)

Sincerely, Chiba Mamoru, grade 12C

It comes with a self-addressed envelope that he can pick up at the front desk.

The Headmistress' Response

<Formal Address As Would Also Be Appropriate> I apologize for the delay in my response, but I wanted to ensure I was not steering a student wrong, as it's always the last thing I want to do.

I reached out to some contacts and had them do some proper digging on our behalf.

Maryam Siddig and her extended family have no known connections to Obsidian Corporation or its many subsidiaries, of any kind, except for occasional overtures from Obsidian's side which she has consistently turned down.

I also appreciate your kindness and care for me. You are correct about this, but my memory does no good if it's not used to help my students in their endeavors. Please feel free to speak to me - or write, as you feel comfortable. The purpose of Radiant Heart Academy is to give our future leaders and citizens the best possible chances to succeed, after all, and it's this mission I've devoted myself to.

Sincerely, Hanasaki Kaoruko, Headmistress, Radiant Heart Academy.

It returns to you in an envelope sealed with a sticker of the Academy logo and on Academy letterhead.

Hi everybody! You know how we have no history because our elders have all been destroyed by the Fade?

TL;DR: WE HAVE A HISTORY, and some of it's preserved, and you can talk to someone about it!

The museum exhibit! It was on purpose. They knew. The people at the museum who gathered up all this art of demonstrably magical people of many ages being observed by artists of many ages knew exactly what they were doing, and have been trying to get in touch with us to help preserve that history, to preserve *our* histories.

Curator Maryam Siddig is an absolutely lovely person who was raised explicitly to believe in magic, and whose family held a piece of the Crystal Heart that protects the Radiant Heart campus from dark energy, so she can remember more than almost all adults. She'd never met any real mahoujin before Kunzite and I broke into her office while she was still in it.

She really, really wants to meet everyone. She's basically a mahoujin cultural anthropologist who's been working off of theory and old notes. You can come in henshin, or if you're less protective of your identity, you can come out of henshin-- I want to work out small groups of like four or five people each to visit her, because we can be an overwhelming crew.

Based on a face to face no-powers read of her face, voice, and body language throughout our conversation, and the information she was willing to give people who broke into her office after touching her artifacts, I trusted her with my information; if my trust isn't enough of a bona-fide (which is reasonable, I trusted my brother not to nearly kill me in a fistfight and look where that landed me) then...

...I have asked the Headmistress if Curator Siddig-san and her family are safe for us to interact with, and she has confirmed that she is acquainted with her, and that her people have done a solid dig into their history and at no time were any of them entangled with Obsidian, and they are not trying to get our info to neutralize us -- or even get our identities at all.

So! You can either tag me if you want to go in a group of four or five and want company you haven't found yet, or you can go by yourself, but I definitely recommend going!
