<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: Hi, Takashi-kun.
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: Are you somewhere at the school?
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: I want to talk if you are free.
- Takashi Agera has posed:
<PHONE> Takashi Agera texts Sayaka Miki: Oh, I'm still Takashi-kun? That... made me feel good to read.
<PHONE> Takashi Agera texts Sayaka Miki: I am up on the library roof - the door's always unlocked. It's peaceful up here, but I can meet you somewhere else if you like.
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: That, yes.
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: I want to talk about that.
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: I will be there.
<PHONE> Sayaka Miki texts Takashi Agera: Just me and Ula.
The koi fairy had immediately turned to face Sayaka with a slightly paler gaze at the news, before the bluenette had started sending Takashi the messages.
Not because of anything specific to the boy, but because she did not want Sayaka to be holding hopes that might not come true. "There is nothing wrong with stepping back if you want another break", she reminds her.
"I know. Thanks, Ula" the bluenette replies, taking out her Pretty Change Mirror before putting it away. Flying there would undoubtedly be faster, but better not to give Takashi the wrong idea.
The door to the library rooftop opens with a prolonged squeak, and both fairy and human get onto the rooftop with a slow pace.
"Hello", Sayaka speaks up, standing straighter as soon as she sees Takashi.
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Takashi is sitting on the roof, a bento at his side (obviously store-bought), and reading a small book. He puts the book away when he hears the squeak, waiting patiently with his hands in his lap, but also taking a large breath and trying to keep himself calm. Still when he sees her he both lights up for a moment and then tenses up right after.
"I would offer to share my lunch but honestly it's not that great." he says, looking at the bento with a little disdain. "If I had known you'd be joining me, I would have made something instead, something worth sharing." he admits. "But I'm more than happy to share my company with you, anytime." he says. Hopefully his company is better than his bento.
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
At the greeting, Sayaka gives an awkward smile, mouth half open as she walks directly to his side, tucking her skirt behind her as she sits down. She is really glad he actually didn't have the time to do that: it would have made things so confusing, honestly, and she is not sure she needs that right now.
Her mind keeps churning and discarding things to break the ice with before settling on one. "You should treat yourself better. You cook well." Her words come out with a slight inflection. Not something useful to recall now.
"Hinoiri told me, about the Jar of Memories", she comments next, putting her hands on each side. "I... You are really trying, aren't you?" After after their talk, It took a few days for her to come to terms with that enough to want to give him a chance. "Did they give you trouble?"
- Takashi Agera has posed:
"There's really no reason to cook well for myself. It's just food, nobody to impress." To be fair Takashi already knows he's great so that's somewhat accurate.
"Well, I don't want you to think it's just because of what you said." Takashi says, picking up the Bento even though he's not a fan because it gives him something to idly poke at with his chopsticks, somewhere to look other than Sayaka - not that he minds looking at her, sometimes it's just hard now. "I meant to make sure she got it eventually anyways, I just slightly adjusted the timetable in case something happens to me because of... what went on." Not just the talk with her but other things.
"Did who give me trouble? Hinoiri-san? Because yes, but also if she didn't give me trouble I'd assume she'd been replaced by a youma."
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
"At least impress your stomach, you dummy", Ula intervenes, flying up to bop Takashi on the head. "I can only assume Obsidian food is so horrid that you got used to eating only slop." She really cannot conceive why one would turn down his own tasty food.
Sayaka shrugs at Ula's outburst. "Ula, please, come over her." This isn't about food, or at least, not supposed to be. "Fine, but he should do better. Just one more thing on that list", she comments, retreating on Sayaka's shoulder.
Sayaka raises her right eyebrow at Takashi's specification. "Would it be so problematic?, she asks, but a few lines disappear from her forehead. It would have been easy to try and pass it as something else, but he is not trying to do that. Though, she can only play back Hinoiri's opposite words.
"Not her, I meant Obsidian. They don't want something they had to disappear somewhere, no?", Sayaka explains herself, dropping for it now. "But I am glad you did that, regardless of the reason."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Ula flies over and knocks Takashi on the head. "Ow!." he says, rubbing it. "Nah, I know better than to eat their food." he admits.
"Well, Obsidian never thought I had it?" Takashi says, allowing a little pride to creep into his voice. "The broken peices weren't really to fool you, they were to fool Obsidian. I go off to get the Jar, Obsidian thinks the Sparkles break it in the fight, Obsidian stops worrying about the jar. But really, I still have the jar, now they're just not worried about it. As long as Obsidian doesn't get wind of the Jar being anywhere else. But I suppose I could always act like you guys pulled one over on me if they did. Just easier if they're not even worried about it." Takashi suggests.
And then Takashi shrugs. "Besides, not a lot of folks left who can really raise much a fuss about me now."
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
"All the more reason not to eat badly if you can", Ula doesn't relent, even if she doesn't fly over to him again.
Sayaka murmurs a 'oh' when Takashi explains that Obsidian was fooled too.
She is not sure what to think of the fact everybody was fooled by his act (he at least had all to gain from them falling for the trick too). At least until Hinoiri thought to check the fake pieces.
"Still had the Jar, right?", she stresses, though she doesn't really get on his case about the misspeak. Unless he is saying that because Hinoiri gave it back to him after studying it.
"I would prefer they never realise at all", she considers to him. "We never really have the time to pull one over you, and I am not sure if Obsidian would believe it." They are all backstabbing pros, and yet, they hardly double check on things. It's almost a miracle the organization can stand on its own.
Sayaka takes a deep breath. "It doesn't matter if you did it because of me, or wanted to do it all along. I appreciate that you didn't keep it to yourself, still, Takashi-kun. It brings out a better side to you."
Sayaka watches a slow cloud while she thinks, and then turns down to look at him. "What do you mean by that? What happened?"
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Takashi shakes his head. "Sorry, I should be more careful with my words. It's easy to slip and get distracted when you're in my vision..." he says, pausing and debating if he should walk that back, then deciding not to. "I was speaking from the perspective of my mindset in the moment. Kirara-san has the jar now."
Truly, Obsidian barely stands on its own, it more limps along, falling in the wrong direction, tugged by Father Obsidian like a pack of dogs all snapping at each other while on the leash. He looks at her and shrugs. "Just that I've been working for a really long time to get to a point where I don't have to worry about quite as many crabs dragging me back in to the bucket." he adds. "And now I can get even closer and figure out what the other Directors are planning, what Father Obsidian's goal is maybe, other than trying to set us all against each other and watch the fireworks." he admits.
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
Caught by surprise, Sayaka clears her throat at his compliment, a faint blush emerging on her cheeks. "Gotcha, gotcha. Good to know she definitely has it", the bluenette replies dismissively waving a hand.
Sayaka falls silent as she reflects on the news of his status. If there are less toxic people around him, it might be a good time to try and help him change mindset. But if there are people seeing him as a peer and involving him deeper in their project, that probably became so much harder.
A shiver run alongside her arms to her open palms, and Sayaka takes another deep breath. "I want to talk about us too. I appreciate that you have taken to heart what I meant, and you are being more open with people."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Well, he can still make her blush, that's ALSO a good thing.
And when she starts to talk he sighs, and closes his bento box, and rests his hands on it. And he looks right at her. Into her eyes, at least insomuch as her position allows it. "And... I heard from Kirara-san what you did for me, Sayaka-chan. What you put at risk. Your magic, your whole Hero of Justice thing you do. For me." he says.
"I can't believe it, and... I'm still trying to figure out how I could possibly come to deserve such a thing." Which even indicated like maybe he thought he still needed to reach a point where he DID deserve it, which is an unusual thing to hear from someone who is also Riventon.
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
"Ah, so you did", Sayaka comments, smiling awkwardly for a moment, facing in front of her. That's on her for never saying otherwise. "Well, nothing about it, really, that was just between me and Blue. I can see how it's make you feel like that, but it's not your fault he has such a reaction to love."
Oh, geez, he is really taking it hard. It does make her feel good that he gives it such an importance, but not to the point that that he starts feeling indebted.
"Yeah, I want to keep things fair, and I can't help out people if I can be distracted from my work. But I don't think there is anything wrong with being in love and being a Precure at the same time, so I would have wanted to prove it to him anyway. That is all. So, please don't worry about it, Takashi-kun."
She turns her face to him and gives him a smile. "I also called you because I made up my mind and want to keep dating you, if you want the same thing."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Takashi shakes his head. "No, it's not my fault, but you did do it because of me, and at the time, you didn't even know the real me." he admits. "Like. I was me. I am me, but Hiddenite wasn't really me. Maybe a me I would have liked to be." he says, after a moment of thought.
He smiles. "I'm sorry, Sayaka-chan, that our relationship started the way it did." he admits. "I didn't know what it would become, or how much I'd like your company, or any of it. So I'm..." oh, this is hard. "I'm very sorry, and it's all my fault, that our relationship did start in such a way, in a deception." he says. Finally breaking from looking at her and down to his bento box.
She says she wants to continue dating him, and he looks up at her and smiles. A real, genuine smile, not a smug smirk. "Well, that's the best news I've gotten in a very long time. But. I'm not sure if it's the right thing. Maybe instead of continue, we should start anew. Like. Now you know who I am. I'm Takashi, the boy who sits on the roof eating a storebought bento and reading a book on philosophy. But... you also know that I'm Riventon. I'm one of the highest names in Obsidian. And you're Sayaka, but also a Pretty Cure, and..." he pauses.
The last time you fought me we didn't know who each other were. And now we do. And I don't know what's worse, really. If we pull our punches, or if we don't..." he says.
"Because... I'm still Riventon, at the end of the day. Can you really be okay with that?"
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
'The me I would have liked to be.'
Did he actually, genuinely imagine himself a hero at one point, free of the shackles and rules that come with Obsidian? Would he have picked up that option without the influence of dark energy, and what he thought was the only way to save the world?
That can only be very interesting, and while not the kind of detail that should not be shared around, it deserves to be thought about a lot more. "I am going to accept your apology. It did hurt me, but I wouldn't be here giving you another chance if I didn't think you weren't actually going to use it well."
Sayaka smirks at his suggested wording. "Let's start anew then. A lot of things are different now, and we know a lot more about each other now." It's definitely not a decision she would have seen herself take at first.
But one thing, she actually decided on a long time ago, and it applies to him just as much as it applied to Hinoiri back then. "I know you are Riventon, and I accept that I am dating you and him. But I am never going to stop trying to save the people you hurt, even if I know why. I know there is a better way than that, and I want to make you believe it is possible not to hurt anyone."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
Taksshi puts his hand to his chest. "I really genuinely do appreciate it. I know that it may seem like I only came clean because of the situation... and maybe that's true. But when I thought of things this situation could cause me to lose, the fact that I thought of you so instantly... it really showed me how much I've grown to care about you." he says.
"I appreciate the chance and I'll do my best to not squander it." he says. Around her, weirdly, it's easier to keep the more... egotistical part of him down. Usually. "The way you talk like that, it really shows your spirit. One of the things I grew to love about you." he pauses.
"But I'm going to worry about you anytime you fight, whether it's with me or not. Which... given what I know, is a little silly. But I don't pretend it's rational. You're just... precious to me and I want to protect that which is precious to me. It's the whole reason I do anything."
- Sayaka Miki has posed:
"It's ok, it's all behind us now", Sayaka insists. She came to terms with it, accepted her apology and they are both ready to move forward. There is no reason to dwell on it any further than this. "I think that we have a lot to look forward to. Let's focus on that."
"I understand why. I still care about you, and I can't say the thought of hurting you sits all that well with me, but I have ways around that, and as for you, I am a regenerator. I can come back from many things."
She smiles at him, and gestures at his lunch box. "Why don't you ditch that and come with me to somewhere around here? Ula wasn't wrong, even if she could have come forward less strongly about it. You should eat better since you can. It's my treat today."
- Takashi Agera has posed:
"I do like the idea of having a lot to look forward to. But all that I need in order to have good things to look forward to is for you to stand in front of me." he says with another smirk-grin.
"Well, at least we're both regenerators of a sort." he says. "Don't tell the others that. It's new. It's a S-e-c-r-e-t." he says, holding up a finger. "But it's probably not as useful as yours. I haven't exactly had reason to test it yet - and I don't need you to go giving them to me either so don't go trying to you know, cut me up more than you would normally!" he adds with a laugh.
"...yeah that sounds good. I won't even argue about you making it your treat. And Ula's right a lot, honestly." he adds as he gets up. "... except, I suppose, when she's clawing my face."
