Cast of Characters: | Fuyuko Yuuhi, Mamoru Chiba |
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
Roughly twenty minutes after her disastrous failure with Beryl and Sunbreaker, Fuyuko decides that she's done with work, actually, and clocks out. She'd had to teleport back to her office to avoid the looks of horror and concern her perfectly mundane employees would have otherwise, and the thought of dealing with memos after all of that -
No.
Now, it's been about an hour, and the painkillers aren't doing shit. She doesn't enjoy the thought of being in debt to a teenager, but Mamoru Chiba had been... well, he'd been tolerable. A good kid, even, as she'd figured him for, years ago, crying over a death he blamed on himself instead of the dead idiot or the girl who'd killed him.
TXT to Mamoru Chiba: You still have that pen I gave you like idk three years ago
TXT to Mamoru Chiba: You were like three feet shorter then.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
TXT to Fuyuko Yuuhi: dont make fun of me if i say yes because yeah why
In fact, Mamoru's sleight-of-handing his hat out of nowhere, and he holds hat and phone in one hand and digs in the hat with the other, finally producing the pen.
Remembering that the last time he interacted with Fuyuko, right afterwards he got attacked by a Gods Damned Vampire, he vaguely wishes he had backup for afterwards, but he can text for that! In the meantime, the teenager ducks into an alley, and a few seconds later Tuxedo Kamen is on a rooftop, letting his henshin drop.
He clicks the pen.
TXT to Fuyuko Yuuhi: found it.
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
TXT to Mamoru Chiba: i need you to call me with it.
TXT to Mamoru Chiba: could use a pick me up if you can manage.
She says he needs to call, but she can feel him focusing on the pen, and isn't the text basically the same as a call? He's got her pen. He's thinking about her. He told her he found it -
Fuyuko steps onto the rooftop besides Tuxedo Kamen, then sits heavily, right there on the gravelly surface. She doesn't care about her slacks or the damage this will cause; she's tired and she aches and she's honestly hoping he can do something about -
"Who the fuck are you?"
Why is there a masked tuxdedo man on this rooftop and where is Chiba? There's an obvious idea there, but the veil is strong.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Tuxedo Mask holds his pen up in one hand and his phone up in the other. "Chiba. The only way you'd be texting me is if you needed help," he says, producing his hat again and dropping first pen, then phone, then gloves into it.
He lifts his mask and drops that in his hat too. "And given the face you made, I figured you wouldn't call for a split lip. It should go faster this way, I've got more power. Obviously I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell."
Vanishing the hat into nothingness, the extremely overdressed Mamoru comes down to sit in front of Fuyuko, holding his hands out. "What happened?" he asks briskly, less of a question than it could be, but not in an inherently annoying way -- just in a sort of EMT way.
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
Fuyuko looks like hell, honestly. Before, she'd been bruised, sure; she and Kyouka had given it - not their all, but something like it, anger boiling over into violence.
This is much worse.
She's removed her blazer, leaving her in black slacks and a charcoal grey shirt, exposing the cuts on her arms; she's picked the glass out, and the bleeding has stopped, but they sting like a bitch. There are a few bandages on her face, to stop the bleeding there - one over her nose, a few on her cheek. Her lip has been split again, her face swollen on one side. It's painful to talk, but she's avoiding a lisp as well as she can.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll keep it under my hat as well as you do," she sighs, then grimaces. She lets him approach, already imagining the sensation of his healing...
"Your bitch of an ex-boss happened. She froze Sunbreaker in crystal as some fucked up idea of disciplinary action. Didn't take too kindly to me pointing out that's my job, not hers."
A long hiss of frustration.
"And fuck her for being as strong as she is." And fuck Balance, for keeping the leash tight when she needed to do her damn job.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Ah, shit, nothing I can do for her until she lets her out," winces Mamoru, and at least the anaesthetic is first. "Last time she did that, the poor sucker was in her office for a week..." and then he falls silent, biting his lip and frowning.
Face first, to make it easier to talk. Swelling, contusions, abrasions, that re-split lip. There is the sense of welcome, of home ground, of sturdy steadiness to lean on and warmth to ease the cold-- but it's faster, it's brighter and firmer, it's not relaxed.
"I can guess how Sunbreaker pissed her off. Beryl's not someone you can run your mouth with. Do you know she made me deliver all my reports on my knees? Four feet from her? She liked my face, she never punished me, just other people in front of me."
He's a good kid who blamed himself for Danburite's death.
"Sorry for not complaining, I know that's how that kind of mistreatment continues, but like... fuck her for being that strong, yeah."
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
"Given how well complaining just went for Sunbreaker, I won't hold it against you," Fuyuko grits out, and yes, she's making the lemon face about the healing, of course she is. The sensation of warmth and home and welcome eats at her - not magically or physically, but aching in parts of she'd rather not acknowledge.
"Probably. I wasn't there for that part. She called me in when she was already half submerged in crystal," she grimaces as Mamoru eases around the bruises in her jaw, then siiiiighs a little; he'd turned the pain off, and she appreciates that.
"Wish I could say I was surprised, but I've always had the sense she's a creep. It's the problem with Obsidian - or the point, I suppose. They're all like that at the higher level."
Maybe not all of them directly as creepy as Beryl, as interested in the face of a boy under her power, but they were more or less all as temperamental and brash, cruel and conniving.
Mamoru can sense the rest of the injuries through his power - bruising, and alot of it on her back, spraining the back of her ribs, possibly cracking them in places - Beryl hadn't been holding back as she stomped her into the floor, again, and again, for daring to rebel and talk back.
"At least you're out of her hands. Now I've got to figure out how long she plans to keep Sunbreaker in there, and if I'll need to raise hell to get her out."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
A nod or sound of agreement here, or there; of anyone, Fuyuko's got a sympathetic audience in Mamoru. "She's such a bitch," he says, lips pursed. "What the hell did she hit you with, a railroad spike? Nevermind, I've got it--"
The bruising is all relatively easy, even the deep muscle bruises-- there's nothing especially to reconnect that won't reconnect on its own, there's only helping it along, giving it more energy to do it faster, and it is fast right now -- the pain was already gone, but the stiffness is leaving too. "Don't take too deep a breath yet, you've got a cracked rib and it's gonna take a hot minute to fix," he murmurs.
He's distracted, his eyes open but not looking at Fuyuko's shoulder, where they're pointed; he's quiet as he works and listens -- and then he shakes his head. "Shouldn't be too long. The idea is to make her watch and wonder how long it'll be, lose track of time at night, lose track of time period, maybe get deadarm of the entire body when she's let out. The last guy was a week, and he really pissed her off. Sunbreaker would have to Sunbreaker at her probably a few times before she did that or another punishment at the equivalent tier. I can give you something that might break it, but Beryl would know where it came from if she watches her office at all when she's not in it."
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
"Something like that," Fuyuko grimaces. She's not going to admit to a kid - especially one she'd once been responsible for - that she'd been literally stomped out. "Thanks. You're a hell of a lot better than waiting for the henshin to fix me up."
It's gratitude, if offered up in the most gritted teeth of tones; she's still got that lemon face over the sensations of his healing, the emotional side, anyway.
"She is, and I don't need you getting yourself in deeper. She wants you, yeah? And she hasn't gotten you yet. Last thing I need is Kyou-chan getting pissy with me because I gave Beryl an in."
She wants Sunbreaker out, but the practical part of her knows that if Mamoru thinks it will only be a week, then it will only be a week, at worst. Maybe less. There's no need to push it. Sunbreaker won't die, and Mamoru might, if she does something to make him noticeable.
"Besides, she definitely has something watching her office. None of the higher ups trust each other enough not to."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"You're welcome," is offered with no particular weight to it, for the thanks. Just matter-of-fact, as if she is welcome.
"And yeah, she does want me--" And then he's grinning at 'Kyou-chan', grinning at the air over Fuyuko's shoulder. "So I appreciate that. And I am so glad that I don't have to deal with them. I still have no idea where 'literal demon' fits in the organizational chart..."
Now it's faster, brighter, and almost burning-- without pain, that's a strange sensation, especially on bone-- and then it fades, and so does the emotional load, and then so does the anaesthetic.
Mamoru lets go, looking-- tired. "As much of an ass as Sunbreaker is, she has friends on the other side. I'm going to tell them where she is. I'm not going to let them go after her, not against Beryl."
There's a lot unspoken there.
"You should be all right now, but be delicate with your rib, okay? And take some calcium supplements or something."
- Fuyuko Yuuhi has posed:
There's a last crest of that bright, welcoming power, that sings through her like wind through trees, and she breathes out, a low exhale. The pain is mostly gone. Her rib still smarts, but she stretches a little tentatively, and finds she can move again.
"Thanks," she mutters, and then - "Yeah, I figured. For all that she's a pain in the ass, she's not bad with people. Some of them - the ones working for Beryl - will probably know by now, but if you've got more, just tell them not to get themselves frozen next to her."
The last thing she wants is a wall of frozen brats.
"Calcium supplements," Fuyuko echoes dryly, but nods. "Alright. Fine. And look, kid - I owe you one."
And then she's gone, leaving him alone on the roof.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
This time, Mamoru's just going to sit here for a while, then maybe text Zoisite to come pick him up or something. No vampires up here in the lengthening shadows. No people with any sense, either.
Mamoru TXT Usagi: do you know how to find sunbreaker's lizard friend
