Honeyed Results of Milkvetch and Lotus
Date of Scene: 18 December 2025
Location: The Shed
Synopsis: The confectioneries Mamoru has displayed in the Shed has inspired Yaling to get more prepared, and soon he has more plants than he probably knows what to do with. Or at least, that will last him a while.
Cast of Characters: Yaling Yao, Mamoru Chiba

Yaling Yao has posed:
"Hey, Shifu, look! They are adding magic candies!" Yaling exclaims upon noticing the notice and bins displayed inside the Shed. "Wouldn't that be nice? Think of how many people we could reach?"

BaiBai lifts her head when Yaling forcefully brings her attention to the colourful collection of candies resting quietly in the Shed. "Hmm, nice indeed. It brings me back to when I used to sweeten the deal for children not much younger than you", she hisses calmly.

"Though, there is so many choices ahead of us. I doubt we have time for all of them", the snake considers, laying back down around Yaling's neck pensively.

"Just trust in me, I already have something in mind. It will be both fun and useful!", Yaling replies, already picking up her phone and sending Mamoru a series of enthusiastic messages.

<PHONE> Yaling Yao texts Mamoru Chiba: Afternoon, Mamoru-san!
<PHONE> Yaling Yao texts Mamoru Chiba: I saw your notice here in the Shed.
<PHONE> Yaling Yao texts Mamoru Chiba: Can you come over? I have a new pitch for candies :3

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
<PHONE> Mamoru Chiba texts Yaling Yao: oh hi!! sure! give me about five minutes, im in the admin bldg

Five minutes later, as good as his word, the twelfth grader comes in the outside door and closes it quietly behind him, smiling. "Yaling-san, hi! Haven't seen you around much, are you doing well? Hello to you too, BaiBai-san."

He comes over and glances in the bins, empty except for the one with the rose ginger, then laughs. "Anyway, what do you mean by a pitch? If you have magical plants you can use as ingredients for candy, you definitely should!"

Yaling Yao has posed:
"We have an admin building? What for?", Yaling whispers to BaiBai after reading the message. The snake lifts her neck in lieu of a shoulder shrug. "First I hear about it. Maybe you should ask him", she replies noncommittally.

"I have been doing great! Lots of Deadbeats to defeat, you know it! Fuhai is grumpy as always, he never lightens up", Yaling tells Mamoru when it comes in.

"But a few weeks ago I fought a dark magical girl from Obsidian who turned a poor hedgehog into her demon pet. Can you believe it? That poor hedgehog!" She starts biting her nails, still looking quite overwhelmed at the memory.

She sighs and looks at Mamoru again. "But yes, I do have ingredients for your project, quite a lot of them!" She immediately takes out a notebook compact, and writes Cure Suzhen's name on it.

An emerald pipa appears in her hands after she signs her name on it, and strumming the instrument lotus leaves surround her in a whirlwind, obscuring her to the sight until Cure Suzhen has taken her place. "Wellness, Warmth and Wisdom from White Snake's Gaze! Historic Legacy! Cure Suzhen!"

"Just a second more, please. Pretty Cure Verdant Harmony!", Cure Suzhen warns Mamoru, and she starts strumming her pipa again, and refreshing smells fill the air. Any ache Mamoru might have would start fading with the magical energy filling the air, but a lot more answers to the Pretty Cure's call. In a matter of seconds, a meadow overtakes the floor of the Shed, completely filled with all kinds of plants from one end of the room to the other.

"Here it is! What do you think?" she asks, letting the emerald pipa fade away.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"A demon hedgehog pet?" Mamoru echoes, eyes wide. "That sounds like fun actually. A demon hedgehog. I would probably try to make one a pet, too. But I wouldn't turn a hedgehod into a demon!" His hands are up in mock-protest; he's grinning, teasing.

Then she takes out her pipa, she does magic, and Mamoru remembers the feeling of her healing on his burned skin, in the hospital. It's calming too, and he leans into it warmly-- and in the meantime, the Shed is growing nature's own garden here in the normal part, instead of the greenhouse part, and Mamoru's eyes crinkle at the corners again.

"I remember," he says softly, turning around, surveying the greenery. "They're always beautiful. I still have some potted from the hospital. Which ones would taste best in candy?"

Yaling Yao has posed:
"I doubt it's any fun for it, you know?", Cure Suzhen mumbles, patting emerald sparkles off of her hands. "I think it's a horrible thing to do to someone, even to a hedgehog."

The tip of BaiBai's tail lifts and gently pats the Pretty Cure on the shoulder. "Try not to dwell on it, Yaling. I don't the hedgehog is actually hurting. And I am sure Starfall is treating it well. She picked it because she liked it, right?" the fairy observes.

Cure Suzhen nods, not looking wholly convinced. "I suppose you are right. Maybe I should pass Starfall some beetles next time I meet her, just to make sure the hedgehog is being fed right." She passes a hand by the fertile plants.

"I think all of these could be made into candy, but I said I had a specific plan, right, Mamoru-san?" She plucks a few leaves off of a sacred lotus and lifts a milkvetch out of the floor, then rips the root off.

"Normally, these plants are able to help with fatigue and prevent poison, respectively, but, since they are magical, their effect is going to be much stronger, plus! we can also walk on water." BaiBai pats her on the should again. Yaling's studies have been really paying off.

The green-haired girl smiles at Mamoru, and pets the snake in response to her approval. "That's actually why I wanted to pitch them to you. Doesn't it sound really fun, being able to walk on water?"

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Oh no no, I wouldn't *turn* a hedgehog into a demon, don't worry. I was just thinking if I found a demon hedgie I'd want to take it home," Mamoru says, waving a hand around as if to dismiss misunderstanding-- then, "OH! Starfall Omen? I have her business card." He's missing the point, he's missing the poiiiint.

He turns his attention back to where it should be, on the plants that Yaling is offering for the project, and he beams at her. "That sounds like the most fun. I definitely want to walk on water! And resisting fatigue and poison are both very important-- way better than an energy drink."

Mamoru looks all around. "So-- shall we harvest? I can go get the twist ties for bundling?"

Yaling Yao has posed:
"Yeah, that's her!", Yaling confirms when Mamoru completes the name. "I think she really liked that pet hedgehog, and I hope they are doing ok. Sadly I couldn't talk to her much because she had made this maid youma, and I had to stop it from harming any more people."

While she explains, the Pretty Cure has put the lotus and milkvetch in a nearby basket. "Oh, actually, if you give me the ties, I can get the plants to help out. Right, everyone? Can you do me and Mamoru-san this favour?"

As soon as Cure Suzhen has finished her request, vines starts sprouting and grabbing the ingredients from all over the room. Mamoru can stand by and watch or help, but in a matter of minutes, the vines have gathered everything in bundles and are offering them to Mamoru so he can tie them.

"They are really helpful, aren't they?" She smiles brightly at Mamoru.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru does get the ties, then, and when he comes back to see, there's a wonderland of animate vines following directions and being helpful, and he looks purely delighted for a moment, until it gentles into warm amusement. He does, in fact, watch. "I'm honestly a little jealous," he laughs, agreeing, and moving to lean back against a desk until the plants start bundling ingredients for him.

He starts using the twist-ties to fix the bundles for Makoto and Chiyo, and probably himself honestly. "Is there any kind of preparation that's special for these? Any temperature concerns, or solubility--?"

Yaling Yao has posed:
The vines stay in place until Mamoru is done tying the ingredients, and Yaling also offers her help with the process. Once the vines are done with their tasks, they retreat and disappear, off to becoming normal vines once more. "I can't wait to see how they will turn out!" Yaling confesses.

She quietly hums, however, when Mamoru gives his opinion on the vines. "I don't really know how to explain it. Maybe if you focus on trying to get them to move. You use roses, right?", she asks, looking at his candy bin.

But of course, she is then being asked for pointers on the process, and at this point, the green-haired girl detransforms and takes out her phone yet again. "I think these would work best as soft candies", she speaks up and starts tapping on her phone.

"You want to avoid high heat, it's absolute murder on these. I recommend tea temperature for the sacred lotus, with sugar to save the flavour, and for the milkvetch..." Her tapping stops, and Yaling starts quietly shifting on her feet.

Seconds pass, and BaiBai's warm brown eyes look silently for the first few of them. "You want to cover the root in honey, and let it simmer gently, Yaling", the fairy completes, and her pupil nods vigourously.

"That's what it was, thank you, Shifu!" Yaling resumes tapping on her phone. She taps one more time, and Mamoru will be able to hear his phone ping. If he opens it, he will be able to find all the recommendations fairy and student have just listed in front of him.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Roses, yeah," says Mamoru, and then he looks wry. "I know how to do it with dark energy, you remember the fight where Usako's silver crystal manifested? I was bringing up brambles left and right. And I used to know how to do it with my own power, but that was a lifetime ago, literally. I'm sure I'll figure it out again. I hope I will, anyway. But even then, I never knew how to make them grab anything but people," he confesses.

But then they're talking about the preparations for the various plants, and Mamoru's scrambling for something to take notes with, but Yaling is noting it down in her phone; his own phone dings at the end, and he pulls it out to look at it, and his face brightens immediately. "Oh this is perfect, thank you! I'll get the ingredients and directions to Chiyo-san and Makoto-san, and these will come out amazingly."

He picks up the bundle of bundles and hefts it, letting out a low whistle. "That is SO many plants!" he cheers.

Yaling Yao has posed:
Yaling shakes her head at Mamoru's question, blinking at the dark energy comment. "I, so... I transferred here from Hangzhou, in China. I don't know much about what was going on before I came here." She is completely unaware of an Usagi without the Silver Crystal, or how Mamoru became aquainted with dark energy.

"I was still bound to home back then, before BaiBai granted my wish", she explains, petting the fairy's head. "Maybe, you can still find a way to do it without dark energy, if you knew how to do it with your own power. We could train together even!", she offers.

She is not sure what to do with him mentioning dark energy, but for now she gets the feeling she can let it be, unless Mamoru brings up more. The pupils of BaiBai's amber eyes dilate at the mention.

The green-haired girl smiles brightly at Mamoru's excited reply. "I am glad to be of help! Really, if you need anything, don't mind. We can always help!"

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Oh! I used to work for Obsidian, before Sailor Moon and everyone helped me get out," Mamoru says easily, not bothered by that part of his past being known; it's fairly common knowledge, and he's not embarrassed. He holds the bundle of plants in his arms and smiles.

"Training together sounds like a good idea-- it's just that when I reach for the energy that's there and try to make it to the thing, it just won't respond. So maybe sometime soon, but not yet."

Holding the big bundle up, he says, "I'm going to get these to where they're going. I'll give you a call when we start making them! Thank you again, for the plants and the instructions!" And then he heads out the door.
