- Rei Hino has posed:
While Rei's attempts to read the fire and determine just what Mamoru's brother, and Obsidian, were up to hadn't borne any new fruit, Riventon's relative radio silence had still caused her some degree of concern. From everything she knew, silence from him didn't mean he'd quit or given up. And occasional flashes of insight would still creep up on her.
But on her own, she hadn't figured anything out. And yet, she didn't have to do everything on her own. Even the senshi - even now, with Usagi not being able to transform - didn't have to fight on their own. And in this case, another magical hero - Hinote Kagari - had offered his expertise to helping her make something out of the few leads her psychic fire-reading had been able to provide. So after she performed another one - so the images she saw in the flames were fresh in her mind - she made her way directly to the shed to discuss with him.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
There's a Mystery Afoot, which means. Tracy and Hinote Kagari are on the case. Who is the palm tree haired--- woman? Man? They still had much to figure out and therefore, the two we're ready. Hinote had his case file out, notepad, and pencil and had sketched most of what he knew down into the case file already which is just... more of the same Rei had already told to the shed.
Maybe a direct discussion could garner information he doesn't know or was left out because it wasn't deemed important. Tracy? Tracy is sitting behind a tiny desk, his fedora down over his eyes as he intones. "She walked into my office, eyes of fire and heels of red. The dame had information I needed. I had a bad headache from the case I was on. One of these couldn't be traded for the other. Maybe my natural charms could persuade her to give her what I needed."
Hinote Kagari blushes as Tracy starts his tirade the moment Rei walks in before he can say anything at all, and he says. "Tracy, this is the shed. I'm going to ask her, nicely, some things!" he insists as he says.
"I'm so sorry." he insists as he rubs his face.
- Rei Hino has posed:
And Rei? Rei looked down at Tracy and for a moment it seemed as though she might have been annoyed, or bothered... but then she lifted a hand to her mouth to stifle a giggle or two. When she removed it, she used it to wave her hand up and down. "Don't worry, don't worry." she says. "It's kind of adorable."
"I understand he's not any more under your control than Luna is Usagi, or my birds are for me. Or maybe even less." she says, as she pulls up a chair that is decidedly not at the tiny chara's table.
"And besides, what we need to do right now is more important than worrying about anything. This is important, and if he can help you, help me, we help everyone, right?" She says, leaning forward with a bit of a devious smile on her face. "And if he calls me a 'broad' I'll just fill a glass of water and dunk him in it like a cookie in milk, until he shapes up."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Tracy says. "The dollface had sass. Sassy like a kitty kat." Tracy said as he decided turned his way away from the discussion at the tiny desk on his swivel chair, fedora still down over his eyes. Hinote Kagari rolls his eyes. "Thanks for that." he says.
Maybe he'll try that threat in the future. Nah. He couldn't bring himself to actually follow through. Tracy probably knew that. Still. Hinote Kagari kind of asks.
"So about your ... visions? Premonitions? I don't know what you call them, but it isn't important I guess. What I want to know is..."
"Besides this figure with palm tree-like hair. What else do you see? Surely they are not just... standing in a white void? Unless they are. In which case. Hrmmmm..." he says as he taps his pencil on the notebook, ready to scribble notes.
- Rei Hino has posed:
Rei sighs, but she's clearly more amused at Tracy than annoyed. "I suppose it takes a dollface to know a dollface." She says, reaching out, and she'll try to ruffle Tracy's Fedora a little bit, if he doesn't get out of the way of it or otherwise avoid it. And that was about as much as Rei had in her either - she wasn't really the dunk a chara type. But one had to set boundaries.
"Well, I'm not sure what to call them either. I sometimes get them at random, just... pushed into my head, but I can also try to make visions out of the fire. And with us not really being a hundred percent on what Obsidian's been doing, I've tried to get some information. And it's... consistent, but it's also not super helpful. It gave me the information I put on the shed board..." she says, pointing in its general direction "About the really old lady who's working for or with Obsidian somehow with that... wild hair." Rei says.
"I know she's important to whatever's going on. I don't know why. And I would hope that someone with hair like that would be easy to find, but apparently nobody's seen her at all." She says.
"Originally a lot of what I saw was... she was a lot of places that were really old. Like, this woman is ancient. But... lately, I kinda keep seeing what... I think... might be something like a shrine. It's hard to make out, but that's... the feeling I get." She says.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Tracy crosses his arms as he's ruffled, he tries to look bold and brash but fails at the moment.
Hinote Kagari starts scribbling notes when Rei speaks. He hrms and says. "A Shrine? Do you feel that's a recent place? An older place? You must be seeing a lot if she's ancient. But if you can tell me anything more..." he says as he scribbles.
"How'd you try to get information?" he asks. "Who do you know you can ask?" he says as he scribbles note and considers. "So you see old places, with this woman. But a shrine sticks out." he considers as eh jots down a note.
"What can you tell me about the shrine. Even if it's hard to make out, you know it's a shrine so... what makes it stick out to you it's a shrine?" he asks.
- Rei Hino has posed:
Rei smirks at the little Chara. Point: Rei.
"No, it's got... it's hard for me to explain, but it's got the aura, the energy, of a very old place. Somewhere important, mystically. Not like... Moon Kingdom old, or Golden Kingdom old, but still pretty old." she says. "And yeah, she's older than anyone I've ever really seen in my fires. I'm pretty sure one of my visions involved her being around during the Sengoku era." she says.
"I see tori gates. Or at least, the shadow of them, I think." she says, tapping her chin. "And symbols of purification, I think..." she says, her hand coming from her chin to her head, like she's trying to pull thoughts from her memory. "What I think are Shimenawa - wards against evil spirits - but I think she cut some of them down." she says.
"At first I thought I was only seeing old things, but... then I saw a van too, a modern van... and she's got a crystal ball, but..." she sighs, shaking her head.
"Sorry. I know a lot of that will apply to most shrines in Japan. But I also figure... Obsidian is active in Tokyo, primarily, so it should be nearby. And she doesn't... seem like the kind of person who hides who she is. Not with that hair, or the giant red feathers on the cloak-cape thing she wears."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari takes more notes. She only sees it shadows and vague images along it. He scribbles and considers. She seems at a loss but he presses on with his questioning. "So it's in Tokyo, most likely. That's.. a lot of Shrines..." he considers when there's literal thousands of them.
But the fact she sees a van... he notes damage to wards from evil spirits. So a place beset by evil spirits. What places might that be? Probably not near the school... probably not even near the city. Probably... maybe The Forgotten District? That place reeks of... bad energies anytime he's gone near it.
If there was ever a shrine that needed obvious 'warding'....
Regardless. He presses. "Sorry I know I keep asking hard questions, but I think I'm getting ideas... a place to start. What can you tell me about the area besides the shrine. Is there a skyline? What time of day is it? Was the van 'Obsidian' marked?" he asks.
Tracy lifts his fedora up. "Keep at it, kid, you're doin great!" he states.
- Rei Hino has posed:
And then Rei's eyes light up suddenly. "Wait! Wait. There's something special. I missed it before, I didn't entirely understand it, but... I think... there's a sumo ring there." she says. Her face scrunches up at that, but she lets it go. "Not like, a temporary one. An old one. It feels old. It seems... old." she says. "That should narrow it down a little, I hope." she offers.
"The shrine itself, there's a lot of trees. There are things taller than the trees, but, I'm not sure what they are. Could be skyscrapers, or mountains, or just other tall trees." She notes. "But I suppose that means, if it is in Tokyo, it's at least a little isolated from usual sightlines..." she says, using Hinote's questions to drive her to better answers.
"I don't mind the questions. I feel like maybe I'm getting somewhere with this that I wasn't when it was just me. I probably should have asked someone to help me wrap my brain around it sooner." she says, idly running a hand down her long black hair for a moment. "It also doesn't seem like it's busy, so it's not a usual tourist shrine, I don't think. I... don't know if the van is important. I couldn't make out much about it, it was just in the distance. It's not like it said JERKS R US on the side. Nothing's ever that easy for me."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari takes more notes. Isolated Shrine. Not a tourist spot. Sumo Ring nearby that's really old. Trees all around. Alright. Things like this help a lot. It lets him narrow it down. He can start on his own hunches too combined to maybe start somewhere.
"Thinking a lot, talking a lot, helps." he says as he taps his pencil. "Alright. I think and... it feels like you're not gonna remember any more than you've told me, but it looks like you've had your 'Eureka!' moment." he says.
"I agree." says Tracy.
Hinote Kagari begins copying this down into the case file, noting where he learned it from and his own hunches into it. Why does he keep casefiles?
Which Detective doesn't!? A bad one, that's what!
"So unless you wanna give things one final think over in your head, and see if you can't come up with more..." he says.
- Rei Hino has posed:
And Rei nodded. "Yeah, I've certainly had a... lot of things to think about recently. And haven't given them all the time they deserve." she admits. "I think you're right. That was a big moment. Not many shrines have sumo rings on the grounds - I mean, at least not compared to the number of shrines in Tokyo. Plus, it's isolated, which means a lot of the big tourist spots are out." she notes. She's thinking, too.
She leans back in the chair and scrunches up her face, then shakes her head. "The only thing I get when I try to think more is a headache. I think I'm spent." She admits. "But... I'm really hoping you can find something. We can't just always wait for them to make the next move." she says, sighing. "Especially not... now." Usagi's situation weighs on her mind, but she lets that go.
"I probably should have talked to you sooner. I'll try to remember that next time I'm trying to track down a tree-haired lady in the flickers of a fire." she says, then pauses. "I mean, I can't guarantee that won't come up again."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari is very glad to have been of help, but also nods at the explanation of being spent. "Alright. So I have information to start off of then. I can start to hopefully track down this person and maybe get a clearer picture of who she is and what she's about." he says.
"So I'm going to start my investigation. I'll let you know what I learn." he says.
Tracy nods. "We're on the case, ma'am, you can believe in us. Detectives specialize in this sort of thing." he says.
"Yeah especially magical detectives when dealing with magical miscreants." adds Hinote. "If I can find Molly-chan when everyone believed she died, I can find a tree haired woman who doesn't hide who she is."
"Anyways. Wanna go get some ramen to nurse a headache? I know A good place nearby." he says as he closes his case file. Well it's time to start. But tomorrow.
Tonight there's ramen in his future.
