The Stars may know all, but they do not tell all.
Nephrite was standing in the Star Chamber in the basement of his reconstructed mansion. Most of the magical defenses had been repurposed or removed. He had likewise removed the pieces of the original Soryuu Shrine that some eccentric occultist built into the original framework that Nephrite had, in turn, summoned the mansion, forest, and mountain on top of. Gifts from the Stars for their last and most beloved conservator.
All the secrets of Astrological Magic curated and sealed away. Anything of value donated or destroyed. A mansion that had only recently hosted a combination of Halloween party and birthday party, now cleared out of all signs of habitation. After all the money that went into it, it was merely the bare bones of a home.
Soon, it would not even be that.
Everything he wanted to preserve had been moved to Midnight Tokyo. The construction was complete, at least for Phase 1. Phase 2 was going to come to a close, and soon, and then all operations would be best served on-site. No more attending school, no more dawdling with the others doing inane bird-related things, no more enjoying a drive along mountain roads that he had created with the help of Constellation Avatars, and no more spending time with Naru.
He didn't think she'd agree to abandon Earth, even if he could guarantee her protection from the Dusk Zone.
He still hadn't even found a way to speak with Jupiter, to see what she remembers if anything.
Nephrite had consulted the Stars for their wisdom on many topics. Was this the right time? Was this plan going to succeed? Was there any way to keep Naru in his life short of abducting her and keeping her prisoner, or possessing her with his Shadow? All options he was loathe to consider.
No answers came.
He sighed, and disappeared.
The lights of the starry night sky all over the Star Chamber walls, floor, and vaulted ceiling dimmed and went out for the final time.
