Synopsis: | La Crima and Sunbreaker's familiars have a play date before the two have a little talk, as well as discuss each other's histories. Surely nothing bad will come of this. |
Cast of Characters: | Hinoiri Kirara, Norie Okana |
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker was, actually... in the dusk zone. Sitting on a rock, her eel was moving amongst the reeds and fauna, hunting. For what, she couldn't say. Possibly prey. Possibly fun.
Flames coated her form, making her appear... dark. Disjointed.
There was a beauty to the dusk zone. One that reminded her... of home. It was dark, here. The colors different. The plant strange. In so many ways it was almost the opposite of her home. But it was sometimes the entire absence of something that made the memory of it burn so much brighter. A reminder of what is missing.
She picked up a stone and skipped it along the water, though the water... seemed to almost ripple in reverse. Or perhaps it was akin to constantly rippling, and the stone made it stop rippling. Her eyes and mind disagreed on the sights in a way that was altogether... oddly comforting. Once you had enough dark energy in you, at least.
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima enjoyed the Dusk Zone. A lot. Her being enjoyed it a lot. She felt safe here.
Mister Squiggles was with her, holding a notepad in one of it's tentacles suckers for La Crima to take notes. She is not actively seeking Sunbreaker, but she sees flames and she's drawn to them from a distance, She floats along the ground, not but a few inches, before stopping, Mister Squiggles, the tentacle monster, stops with her and she head tilts.
"Oh.. is that you, Sunbreaker?" she asked softly, taking the notepad from Mister Squiggles with a little sucking sound, pfffbbttckt. She wiped the back of the notebook and leans forward a little.
"I thought something was on fire, but I guess it was just you." she says quietly.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker glanced over. "Hm? Ah. La Crima," she said before giving a light wave. Adajo moved over to the other monster of the dusk zone, swirling around it for a moment. Almost playfully nipping.
"I could light something on fire if you're cold, but no. I'm just... ruminating. You're welcome to come sit by me, if you like." She picked up another stone and tossed it. It skipped twice, then just... stopped. And fell in the water. If that was water.
"What are you doing here? Research of your own?" she asked, gesturing towards the notebook.
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima was dressed in the labcoat, and her safety goggles which we're perched on her head. She had her low level employee badge on, and her messenger bag on her side. She hefted her notepad under her arm and nodded. "Yeah. I was studying some plants earlier. They are carnivorous and look kinda like more active pitcher plants. More like... Scoopy..Plants.." she says. "I'm not calling them that." she said more gravely.
Mister Sqiggles recoiled at the nip and started chasing after the eel in a little pushing motion with it's tiny squiggle leg tentacles.
It was kind of comical.
La Crima eyed this, but ignored the playing familiars for now. "What are you researching?" she asks. "Besides skipping stones into the dusk zone fluid?" she asks. "I'm pretty sure it isn't water water. Don't drink it." she asides. "If it is water, it's sufficiently unsafe." she says. "I uh."
"May have drank a glass and woke up in the middle of nowhere in the Dusk Zone in my shade form." she asides.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a small shrug. "You should just call them Scoop Snappers or something. Scientists name all kinds of things stupid names. Back home we have bugs that look like blades of grass and hop on the wind... we call them grass hoppers," Sunbreaker said, picking up another rock and tossing it.
"I'm not... really researching anything. I'm... ruminating. The power here. It hurts. The dark energy. I didn't notice at first. But then when I was purified... well. It's kind of incideous. The way it does it." She picked up another stone, staring at it.
"It starts small. Just a little twinge here and there. You get used to the pain. Accept it. Then it gets a little more intense. A little stronger. But... I guess that's fine. I need power. A little suffering for power is a price I'm more than willing to pay. The more I get used to the pain... the more I can use it. Fuel myself with it. The more tolerant I can be of it."
She let the rock fall on the ground and glanced towards La Crima. "So... what's your story? You something Riventon found in the Dusk Zone? Or you new? You just seemed to pop up one day from what I saw, then I kept seeing you."
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima blinks a little as she has a seat as familiars play in the background.
"Wait. You we're purified?" she then blinks a little. "Then why come back here? Dark energy does. Hrm." she says as she taps her bottom lip. "I mean if you we're looking for the power, then I guess this is the best place for it, but too much dark energy can be bad, I understand it, for someone not attuned. Or. Native. Or..." she hrms.
She watches Sunbreaker drop the rock. She reaches down to pick it up. "You're asking of my origins." she says. "Okay."
"I used to be a normal girl. I bought a cursed necklace. It. Did something to me. Now I'm whatever this thing is." she says, looking down to a hand. "Vampire." she says quietly.
She tries skipping a stone and the stone just goes PLOP into the water.
"My emotional bandwidth is all screwed up. Can't feel good things. Drain energy on touch whether I want to or not." she says. "Ny body is. a. Dark energy construct. So it's attuned to this dark energy." she says. "Easier for me to be. Not a human than it is to be human." she admits.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a small nod. "I came back because I have no choice. My choices are step up or back down... and the latter hasn't been an option for a long time. If I have to be hurt to achieve my destiny... then I'll just have to endure it. There's really no other option for me."
She glanced over to the other girl. "Cursed necklace?" she asked. "That's rough, buddy. Nobody should have to go through that."
"There were cursed objects like that back home. But they were locked up. And... I don't think we had dark energy like this there. But... well. Have you tried destroying the necklace? Or is the magic in you now, instead of it?"
She glanced towards the familiars playing. "Are you... satisfied with this? Being a dark energy construct? Being a vampire? Is it what you want?"
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima frowns. "Honestly? If I had my emotional bandwidth back, the rest wouldn't be so horrible. Even the ability to feign those emotions would be good. Because then I could go back home. Because I could laugh and smile again." she says quietly. "Instead of being banished to the dorms for my. Attitude." she scowls a little as she sighs a little.
"Riven-senpai met me when I was energy hunting one evening. He brought me over to Obsidian. Did he find you too?" she asks curiously.
"It's not like I knew it was cursed. It was just a pretty necklace in a shop... was gonna wear it as part of an outfit for a dance recital." she says. "Things like that should be locked up." she says softly.
"Destroying the necklace probably won't fix me. But it could destroy the only way to fix things too. Who knows." she says quietly.
"No dark energy there?" she asks curiously. "Curious. I wonder how it'd interact there..."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a small nod. "No. That... sounds... rough. Not being able to feel or... well... for what it's worth? I get that, at least. Not the feeling thing. But... I was banished from my home, too. It's why I'm here. Why I look human. Not a dark energy construct... but certainly a magic of some kind construct," she muttered.
"As for Riventon... he found me. Or rather, I drew him to me. When I arrived in this world, I tried to understand the magic. My experiments brought him to me. From there, we started making agreements. He helped me find out why the magic wouldn't work for me, I'd teach him about the magic of my world. Was a simple thing, in the end."
She glanced to La Crima. "What would you do to fix it? what would you sacrifice? Where's that line for you, the one you won't cross to get back what was taken for you?" she asked, her tone going rather... intense, suddenly.
"What would you do to break this curse?"
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima shifts a bit. "I've already tried various things." she admits.
"I think I'm lacking a pure heart. So I tried to gain one. By taking someone elses. But the...sparkleskirts wouldn't let me have it." she says quietly.
"Then I shot my friend by accident so I stopped shooting people with the gun Riven-senpai made." she says as she sulks a little.
"I have another experiment I'm going to try soon. I'd rather not talk about it, but I have the go ahead of one of the high ranking Obsidian members." she says with a series of matter of fact nods.
"But. I am trying to fix myself, you know." she says quietly. "Not just... sulking about it." she says as she eyes Sunbreaker.
"Look human. Are you not? Are you. Something else. Usually?" she asks curiously.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker nodded. "Lacking a pure heart? Eh. I doubt it. I don't think a pure heart would make you feel less or more. I think..." she trailed off. "No. I guess not. You'd need to kill someone to take it, wouldn't you? They'll always try to stop it. And, to be honest? If you could feel again... do you think you'd be happy having done it by murdering someone else?" she asked.
"That's... the one line I won't cross. Killing someone is something you can't take back, no matter how much you want to. As for experiments... well... I won't pry unless you need help and have something you want to trade for it. As for what I am?"
She pointed at her flaming horn. "Unicorn. Back home? We don't have humans. We have dragons, unicorns, pegasi, earth ponies, griffons. All kinds of things. But not humans. You lot are just myths to us. I can see why. A whole world of just humans? It's kind of creepy. No offense."
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima keeps eerily quiet on this. There's some lines La Crima are willing to push. She doesn't go into it. Instead she merely says. "I'll remember that." she says quietly. "If I need help, I'll ask." she says softly. She blinks a little.
"You're a unicorn..?" she blinks a little. She goes cross eyed a little. "Oh." she says as she opens her notebook and takes a note. Sunbreaker = Unicorn. Okay.
She looks back up. "Maybe to you. I bet we'd think your home was 'pretty creepy' to us, considering you're myth here." she says quietly.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a shrug. "Eh, do whatever you need. Not my world, after all. If you guys mess it up... well, nothing I need to worry about." That, at least, was something she kept telling herself. Sometimes she even believed it.
"And yeah, I'm a unicorn. Or, was. Now I'm not. It's... really no fun. Being something I wasn't before. I mean, I guess... you kind of get it. But it's not really the same. You're... emotionally... hollow? I guess? But for me, it's more like... I miss walking on four hooves and having magic be a part of what I am. I was magic incarnate. Now? I can only tap into it through dark energy. I went from being the greatest in the world... to struggling to do basic fire cantrips. It's so lame," she muttered.
She got to her feet and stretched out. "Ngggggg. And I think that's about the time for me to head out. I'm getting a bit meloncholy. Gotta stop before I get too much dark energy. Maybe I can go and purge some, throw a few sparkle skirts down a flight of stairs or something. Anything you want before I head out?" she asked before giving a low whistle.
Her familiar darted away from its playmate (if what they were doing could be called playing) to return to its safety jewel.
- Norie Okana has posed:
La Crima shook her head. "No. I'm fine. I'm doing some last minute studying before tomorrow." she says softly, watching the familiars play before motioning Mister Squiggles back to her side. Playtime is over, it's back to work.
"I wanna. Figure out those plants before I leave." she says softly. "At least document them. See if I can't bring a sample back to the lab and have Riven-senpai help me run actual scans." she says softly.
"He's the real scientist, I just play at it." she says softly. "I take notes and. Observations. Useful but not really... science..science.." if that makes sense.
"Just remember, take everything with you when you leave! don't wanna.... like. Find out what happens when a cellphone gets too much dark energy or something." she admits.
She'd wave Sunbreaker off, regardless, as she leaves.
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker gave a small nod. "Yeah. Don't stay up too late. School tomorrow," she mumbled, a bit of fire forming in her hand. She then paused.
"Scientists come in all sorts. Some people study what they find, others like to get their hooves, err, hands right into it. Nothing wrong with having a different approach from him. I mean, Riventon is... smart. Ish. But his style won't mesh with just anyones. You need to find out how you want to research and how you're going to take control of the world. Spend all your life in someone else's shadow, you'll never be able to stand on your own."
"After all, you got power now. Cursed or not. If you want to fix things, put it to use and do whatever you feel you can handle. Not like you can expect everyone else to just give you a miracle when half of them are looking for their own. Ciao." Then, the fire expanded and, with it, she was gone.
