Synopsis: | Catra and Sunbreaker steal some dirt bikes and go joy riding! Also... Sunbreaker decides to do the healthy, smart thing and ask someone for advice and the proper way to react to some situations. |
Cast of Characters: | Hinoiri Kirara, Catra |
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker was not in the best mood. Was upset, grouchy, snippy and ready to maul any human she saw. Like, she toned it well enough so hadn't ACTUALLY mauled any humans, but... Today she was certainly in the 'I'd rather hang with the youmas' kind of day. Which sucked, since most the youma were brainless, more or less. They imitated intelligence, but they weren't ACTUALLY that.
So when she saw someone she hadn't seen in a long, loooong time... heck, before she BECAME Sunbreaker... a smile spread on her lips. The fiery unicorn made her way towards the cat and lifted a hand. "Hello there, Catra, right?" Pause. "From... Etheria, I think? Its been a while, I'm Sunbreaker. We... met a few months back, though it was just for a second."
Considering the veil, Catra couldn't even remember her if she tried. "But that's not really important. What is important, is I want to blow off some steam with someone who's not an empty headed youma or a, honestly, almost as empty headed human."
"So what I want to ask you is simple. Do you know.... what a dirt bike is? And do you understand the idea of... ...... screw it, I'm not even going to be subtle. Do you wanna go steal some dirt bikes, drive through the woods where we don't have to see any humans and just pretend for a few hours that none of them exist?"
She was, wellll... in a mood. But her instinct, when in said mood, was cause damage to something. So probably not the worst person for her to talk to.
- Catra has posed:
Catra is in, to be honest, a pretty low mood. The feline was hanging around with a plaste of sushi that she was basically just pushing around on a plate with the chopsticks -- and when a cat is disinterested in fish, you know there's a problem.
She looks up at Sunbreaker's approach, and quirks up an eyebrow over her yellow eye. "Yeah I know what dirtbikes are," scratching her head and trying to work out where she's seen this person before. ...Whatever, must've been around here somewhere. Obsidian is full of weirdos anyway.
"Yeah I want to steal some dirtbikes and go ride around the forest," she replies, basically automatically. Looks like doing something delinquent, possibly at least mildly dangerous, and generally unfriendly to the environment might just scratch some particular itch. The feline lobs the sushi (plate and all) towards the garbage; some of it goes in, and some of it does not, which apparently is someone else's problem as Catra elects to do exactly nothing about it.
"Not having to hang around a flock of stupid humans all day? That'd be *great*. So I'm assuming you know where there are bikes for us, so, lead the way."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker couldn't help but actually grin. She held out her hand and, well... Once the girl took it, the two were off.
Twenty minutes later, the sound of dirt bikes going at dangerously high speeds, through a range that really wasn't supposed to be done at this hour, 'borrowed' from a rental place that was VERY far from where they were now, could be heard as Sunbreaker gunned the engine.
The wind blowing through her mane, the flames illuminating both her body and her bike (which she had, in fact, used some magic on so now it was a dusk-dirtbike. Shut up that was a thing. Just add Dusk to anything and it worked). She had bits of mud and dirt over herself but she didn't care. Best part about being in henshin is even if she fell off or crashed? It wasn't like she'd get THAT hurt. Which made leaning forward and gunning it through the brush and foliage all the funner. She'd glance back to see how Catra was doing, while she would have gone over the basic mechanics (namely, brakes, steering, acceleration, hotwiring), she wasn't sure how familiar the girl would be with 'human' engineering.
- Catra has posed:
There is one thing that's definitely important in the operation of a dirtbike, especially at high speed and over unpredictable ground: Balance. Luckily for Catra, she is a cat, and has far superior balance to a human. She's gunning the dirtbike along at absolutely breakneck speeds, performing (and landing) jumps that most people would break their neck over.
But honestly, even if Catra were to crash, she isn't most people. She'd probably be fine. And even if she wasn't fine, she might not care.
Just the same, when she goes flying off some jump or careens around a corner much faster than is wise, she's whooping joyfully as she makes a mess of the trail and leaves the smell of burnt two-stroke oil lingering in the air behind her.
"Alright!" she yells, which Sunbreaker might or might not hear, "Humans are idiots but these things are fantastic! I love this!"
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker already liked this Catra girl. Not like. Friend-like. But just. Liked. You know? It was NICE having something around that wasn't human. And her options in that regard were really... Catra, Wolfrun or Double Trouble. And she actually liked Double Trouble. Wolfrun annoyed her.
But anyone who stuck those landings and wasn't a human on top of it? ace in her mind.
"I know, right?! I guess it's like they say! Even the obnoxious monkeys can do at least ONE thing right!" She lowered her head again and zoomed off again. She... admittedly, didn't have Catra's balance. But honestly? Riding a bike just felt so, so much more *natural* to her than running on two legs. It was like being on four again(albeit, rounder legs, but still). She dove under branches that, frankly, she couldn't have walked over without bending down. And it felt *nice.*
Unfortunately for her, she wasn't watching where she was going and, well, it was late... so when she broke through a treeline, mud spreading everywhere, and the path curved? She ignored it and just went off and--
There was a massive splash, followed by the sound of hissing, sparkling water... Then laughter. Sunbreaker having crashed into the small stream that was about knee deep and, frankly, it was a good thing she was using magic on herself AND her bike, or the whole thing would have been dead weight now. Instead, she was left to haul her ass out of the water, laughing the whole time.
"Look out for that turn, it's a doozy!" she called out to the other girl.
- Catra has posed:
Catra comes absolutely screaming around the corner; but fortunately, not only did she hear Sunbreaker's warning, she heard the preceding splash, too. She corrects her course a bit before Sunbreaker did, which sees her come to a skidding halt with the bike at almost a forty-five degree angle to the ground, just at the edge of the water.
Well, with the tires *in* the water, if we're being picky, and Catra does a bit of a hop-jump while tugging the bike away from the stream, all to avoid getting her feet wet.
"Ugh, water," seh complains, wrinkling her nose. "Thaks for the warning! Yeah, that corner was tight. I bet we could do it better now that we know it's there though."
The feline stays straddling her purloined dirt bike while Sunbreaker is busy extricating herself (and the cat figures it she needs help, she'll ask for it). She stretches, reaching skywards with both hands.
"Never had anything like this on Etheria," she comments. "I mean, it's not like people didn't do things to go fast, just... not like *this*. It's nice to finally find something this world has to offer other than, like... what. Eight billion humans? Seriously, that's a ridiculous number. And none of 'em can handle beast kin."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker finally managed to haul her bike out of it before holding her hands down over it. Fire erupted around both of them, washing the water away and cleansing them. "Ahhhh magic. And I know what you mean. Back home we had quite a few speed groups. Usually pegasi and griffons, but I imagine they felt a lot like these bikes do. But whenever I wanted to go fast I'd just teleport. But when I'm on these, I can almost feel like myself again, galloping through a field. Almost makes me wish I spent less time studying ancient arcane secrets and more time running through fields. And yeah. The numbers are just silly, don't even get me started on the polution and noise levels. And ugh, you can't even see the stars most nights," she said, actually shuddering.
"Hey... if you don't mind me asking. Your world had these magical girl things, right? The sparkle skirts? Did... one of them ever try to save your life? Or protect you from... the other sparkle skirts?" oh, there was a question. But hey, they'd... stopped for a minute... might as well ask the other off worlder she knew.
- Catra has posed:
"Back home we didn't even have stars," Catra replies, watching Sunbreaker work her magic with all the fire and everything. "The night sky was just black. No idea why." She shrugs her shoulders lightly. "You'd think the people here would want to see the night all lit up, but no apparently not, they'll just overdo it with so much neon-everything that the sky could be any color at night and you'd never know it."
And then, there's Sunbreaker's question, about the magical bunch and their behaviour. "We just called them Princesses," she replies, "There was a whole rebel alliance of 'em. A few other kids and I were getting trained since we were kids to fight 'em. And yeah..." She trails off, and "I used to have a friend, named Adora, and we were really close. But then she ran away and joined the Princesses. Got herself a big magic sword and everything, and basically just left me behind, so whatever. But she did try to 'save' me a couple of times, if that's what your asking. ...Basically just needed to keep satisfying her hero complex or something."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker blinked a few times and shuddered at the idea of no stars. "Did... you have a moon? I... mean... in my world? The stars were set by Sovereign Sora. She... sometimes set new ones, other times adjusted them. But they were always there. Maybe your world had the same and whoever was supposed to place them just... never did," Sunbreaker offered. A weird solution, but one none the less.
However, the talk of Adora made Sunbreaker glance over to the cat. "Huh. So... she betrayed you and everyone else for a magic sword? Sounds like a pretty terrible friend. But well, can't say I'm surprised. From what I've seen, friendship only slows you down."
"... But do you... understand... why? There was... this weird girl. Sailor Moon. I was kicking her flank. Blowing her around, she was crying like a baby. Absolutely hated me. Mocked me, said I was never going to have friends. I mean, obviously, I never had them before. But apparently to her she thought it was a big insult? I almost had her down, her henshin was juuuuust about to collapse. Then suddenly... this weird guy just... and let me tell you. This guy? He was the biggest clown at the circus I've ever seen. Top hat, stupid tuxedo, cape, mask. Just... pops up, grabs her and dashes. Makes it like twenty feet and disappears. Then a moment later, these three other girls in the same stupid fuku that Sailor Moon was in pop up."
"Sneak attacks. I tried to hold them off, but I'd spent too much power. Needed to fix my hand. Got reckless. Need to not do that again, but lesson learned. Lose the battle, win the war, I guess."
"... Here's the thing. They were going to kill me. They... might have been able to. I couldn't fend off all their attacks in that condition. They were aiming to... then Sailor Moon stopped them. She hates me. I hate her. I'd just spent the last twenty minutes slamming her face into the ground and done so much damage her henshin was practically fitzing in and out."
"... She shoved them aside and shielded me with her own body. She could barely even stand and she was using that energy to *protect* me... Is that... normal? is that just... their hero complexes? My own mentor wouldn't have even protected me from something like that... so why her?"
- Catra has posed:
Catra listens to the whole story, shutting off her motorcycle while Sunbreaker is talking so she doesn't run out of gas in the middle of the woods. Which, would really only mildly suck, because Sunbreaker can teleport, but that's off the point.
"Adora left me to go join the Princess Rebellion and show the world just how great she is. There wasn't enough oxygen for her in the Horde, I guess. She needed more. A bigger stage. Bigger audience. More people to go 'Oooooh' and 'Aaaahhh' at her daring heroics." Catra holds up her hands and waves them side to side for emphasis, all while adopting a sneer and furrowing her brow over her mismatched eyes. "In the end it's all the same. They find a magic sword or get a magic wand or awaken the magic within and suddenly they're all better than everyone else and they just gotta prove it every chance they get. To everyone. And that includes us."
Catra shrugs her shoulders emphatically. "That includes us. Adora kept trying to get me to switch sides, or save me somehow. Like, as if I needed it? I was so much better off with her gone! I was Force Captain once she left. I never realized until then how much time I'd spent in her shadow, until I finally saw sunlight once I was out of it. I bet that's what's going on with Moon Girl."
Catra smirks, "She sees you as someone she can 'save', or at least use you to prove how much better she is than everyone else. I mean, look, you said you were having a hard time fighting off three girls, and then she jumps in, already beaten up, and does it for you? Prime example, right there. She thinks she's better than you. Right now she *knows* she's better than you."
"If I was you, right now? I'd teach her a lesson."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker listened and... really... shouldn't put as much stock into those words as she was. But... She chuckled. "Yeah I guess... they always want to, huh? In the end, it's all about them, isn't it? 'Look at how amazing I am, you can be amazing too, if you stay under me'," Sunbreaker muttered.
"Maybe you should have joined the little princesses side. Beaten her at her own game, been a better one of them than she'd ever be. Bet she wouldn't try to save you anymore then, huh? Who knows, might have driven her right back to the horde," she said, her own voice bitter.
She held up a finger, small flames forming on the tip. "I'm not saveable. I don't even CARE about this stupid world. It doesn't even HAVE real magic. I'm going to use it up just like I was and then I'm going to ascend and become an alicorn and then I'm going to go back home and make Sora regret she EVER turned on me. And this stupid Sailor Moon isn't going to stop me..."
"As for teaching her a lesson... I doubt she can even learn. How many times did you teach this Adora a lesson? Did it EVER click? Did she ever actually... learn? Finally just give up? Stop trying?"
Then, however, her eyes widened slightly. She lifted her arms up around herself a little and chuckled. "Ohhhhh. That makes soooo much sense. That's why the Sovereign stopped trying. She finally realized I wasn't just going to be part of the audience anymore..."
- Catra has posed:
"They never learn. Doesn't matter how many times you teach them. It never sinks in." Catra shrugs her shoulders. "That doesn't mean teaching them isn't *fun*. When I captured Glimmer and Bow? You should've seen Adora's face! It was priceless! And then when I beat her and took her sword, that was worth every moment of it."
The feline doesn't think she knows whta an alicorn is, but whatever it is it'll be pretty cool if it's what Sunbreaker is trying to become, so she doesn't ask and leaves it at that.
"I don't know what I want out of this world, honestly. I just don't want Adora to win. Or any of her friends. She made a promise to me and she broke it, so... really I guess that's that." She pauses, rubbing her chin. "Not until after the dance though. Whenever that is." She adopts a wide, ear to ear grin, "Just... gotta figure out how I'm going to mess with her while I'm there."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker nodded, sighing. "I guess... not..." she muttered. "Doesn't really work to teach someone a lesson if they're too stupid to actually learn it. Glimmer, Bow? Wow. They sound ridiculous," Sunbreaker said with a laugh.
However, that made her pause. "Wait. You... beat her? You took her sword and everything? Why didn't you destroy it? Or... is it one of those 'We can't destroy this no matter how hard we try' kinds of things? Sounds like it would have been the ideal way to get back at her. If she doesn't have any power.... suddenly she'd be the 'weak' one... and she'd have to either sit on the sidelines or give up." She then gave a snort. "I wonder how much she'd be asking you to 'join' her, if suddenly she had no crowds to cheer her on."
"There's... nothing quite like getting payback on the person who turned their back on you, is there? And maybe... don't screw with her."
"Screw with her friends. If she's the kind of girl to throw herself in the way of anyone trying to get at you? Piss everyone else off. Make them come *after* you. Maybe you can make her drive everyone else off on her own. Then, when she's all alone, when everyone has abandoned her and she looks to you?" She clenched her hand into a fist, the fire disappearing. "Crush her. Make her feel just as hollow and empty as she made you feel when she turned her back on you."
Sunbreaker blinked a few times, her cheeks going a little red. "Err, I mean, assuming she made you feel that way. When she broke her promise, I mean."
- Catra has posed:
Catra shakes her head, "No, I didn't destroy her sword. Turned out it was the key to the whole planet so we used it to open a portal. The idea was to bring in the rest of the Horde so instead of having to do a lot of fighting and eventually win, we could just win right then and there by crushing the Princesses into dust." She shrugs. "It brought a few of us here instead. Me, Adora... maybe a couple others. I'm surprised Glimmer isn't here. And yes, she's every bit as ridiculous as she sounds. You should see her getting intense about something."
The feline chuckles softly, "I intend to screw with all her friends. Especially the one who seems to be terrified of cats. He'll be easy. Last time I saw him he was doing magic by accident. ...I'll mess with him from a distance next time, unless I'm punching him."
Catra purses her lips, and glances away, looking off into the woods as her smug expression slowly fades. "...Yeah, she left me," she mumbles. "And I'm never going to forgive her for that."
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker couldn't help but chuckle. "Heh. Summon a whole other army to win the war? Impressive, not a bad tactic. And key to a planet... fascinating. That must have made it an incredibly powerful tool. Imagine if you could have tapped into its true power, you could have had her bowing at your feet."
The comment on Glimmer made her snort. "I mean, she sounds ridiculous. 'Oh, I'm Glimmer!' What, does she sparkle at you or something? 'Beware my strobe light of power!'"
"Magic... on accident? Ugh. How stupid. If you're doing magic on accident, you'll just end up hurting yourself. This is why magic is supposed to be studied and researched. You don't get it by making 'friends' or going to 'parties'. And if he's scared of cats? Seems the ideal target for you. Break him, see where that puts Adora. Everyone has their limit... then their true colors show."
"You shouldn't," Hinoiri said quickly. "She betrayed you. At this point? You owe her nothing. Make her crawli on her hands and knees for forgiveness, then take her life like she ruined yours!" Sunbreaker yelled with a maniacle laugh. For a few moments, before she blinked and shook her head. "Or like... lock her in a prison for a thousand years. Then maybe let her out. If you think she's learned the lesson."
- Catra has posed:
"Actually yes, Glimmer *does* sparkle at you. She sparkles aggressively, I guess. She might knock you over if she tries real hard. That, and she teleports, which is super annoying the way she does it." She holds up her hand, "Nothing a good set of claws won't fix, though."
The feline shakes her head, "I just want her to understand what she did to me and why she shouldn't have done it. We'll... go from there, but she's not super bright and hasn't worked it out yet. ...Adora, I mean. Glimmer is just kind of coincidental and so far I haven't seen her here. If she were, she and Adora would be inseperable."
The cat falls silent for a moment; perhaps thinking about recent events. Maybe the moment when she met Adora out on the pier and they actually talked instead of fighting.
"She keeps begging me to come to the Radiant Heart Academy with her," she grumbles at last. "I don't have time for that crap. I was never good enough for her to *stay* so I don't see why I should be the one always running around after her."
Catra settles back down on her bike, and sighs, shaking her head. "Whatever." She turns the key, bringing the bike back to life and revving the engine hard without putting it in gear. "Wanna keep going? See if we can crash into anything else?"
- Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Sunbreaker only laughed harder at discovering Glimmer DID sparkle. Hey, teleporting was cool. But SPARKLES?! "Oh my gosh. Please tell me her battle cry is 'Angry sparkles!' or something equally stupid," said the girl who's last name meant 'shimmer'.
however, that... that made her stare for a moment. "You... think she ever will? Understand, I mean. If she hasn't understood at this point, why would..." she trailed off then before shaking her mind. "Nevermind."
Though, honestly? All this talk about... Adora... wanting Catra come back made her think of some other things. Namely, that book. Was Sora trying to send a message back, now? asking her to come back? Apologizing? Telling her...
No. She shook her head. "Yeah. Yeah! Let's go run everything over!" she yelled, turning her own bike back on. For a few moments she skidded....
Then she burned out, driving down the road as quickly as she could. That was all it was. They just... thought they were better than her. It was a power play. That was all Sailor Moon did. It was all... just to make her feel stronger. Better than her. Well...
She wasn't. Nobody was. Not Sailor Moon. Not Sora. Nobody. It was time to see just how much stuff they could break on this trail...
