Still not enough (Hinoiri Kirara)
Date of Cutscene: 08 September 2024
Location: Radiant Heart
Synopsis: After a recent magical fight, Hinoiri... well... she lets out a bit of steam. While wondering... what she's still missing.
Cast of Characters: Hinoiri Kirara

Hinoiri possibly got a few... looks from those who passed through the Radiant Heart Gym. While she'd tried to pick an isolated part, it wasn't like there was really a 'private' room to practice this. Well. Unless she went to Kyouka's... And right now she'd rather be mauled by Chaar again than ask any of them for anything.

She'd finally gotten magic again. She'd finally HELPED them. She'd finally done what she thought was the right thing... and it wasn't enough.

Because she'd tried to use her opponent's weaknesses against them, to drive a wedge between Hawkmoth and his little pawn-of-the-day, SHE got scolded. SHE became the bad guy. Again.

She punched and kicked the punching bag over and over, venting all of her frustration and anger out on it, using the strikes Fuyuko had taught her.

Even now. Despite everything. Despite studying. Despite managing to cobble together something with magic out of the abandoned pieces of other devices. Despite fighting AGAINST the bad guys and getting hurt...

No. It was never 'Good job Equivalence!' or 'Thanks for the help!' or even 'Are you okay?' No. They ignored her when she was trapped, only helping her after riding her into battle like some kind of Sora damned SLED! Her fists punched the bag so hard her knuckles would probably end up bruising, but she didn't care.

Loyalty's words echoed in her head. Just like the bad guys. She was just like them. No, she wasn't.

She gave up her power. She gave up EVERYTHING for them.

She STOPPED. She ALMOST DIED! She was toyed with and beaten and put in the hospital and hid and was humiliated all so they could have their happy little endings.

But she was still never going to fit in, was she? No matter how hard she tried, she was just... never enough.

... Was it really wrong to lie? Wasn't what Hawkmoth was doing so much worse? Shouldn't she have been praised for trying to stop it? For trying to weaken his control? Why was she ALWAYS the one in the wrong?

Again and again her knuckles and leg hit the bag, even as her body all but screamed at her to stop. Even as the gym ended up emptying out and she was left alone.

... It was her first real fight with them...

She'd had hopes. Dreams. She thought... she thought if she fought by them, things would be better.

She thought they'd welcome her.

She thought she could be Equivalence and they'd get to know her, get to like her... Get to care about her. Then she could show she changed.

But they didn't. Her first real team up was a failure. Instead she got lectured. Scolded. Told how she wasn't good enough. How she was just like the bad guys.

Finally, her hands fell to her side. Her anger and rage burned out until all that remained... was the pain of aching muscles and rejection. She wobbled away, to the bathroom. She was exhausted, there was no way she could make her way back to her room.

Instead she locked herself into a stall and did the only thing she could do now to vent her frustrations. She cried. As silently as she could, sitting in a locked backroom stall, she just cried.

What did she have to do? How was she still not enough?
