Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Text messages had been exchanged, but the thing about text messages from Usagi when she's excited is they don't really... explain much. At all. So what poor Makoto understands is that the future is involved, and housewives, and that Usagi needs to talk RIGHT NOW, OMG, RIGHT NOW -

Which has lead to Makoto's dorm having the door burst open as Usagi throws the door open.

"MAKO-CHAN, I'VE HAD THE MOST AMAZING NEWS, AND I HAD TO KEEP IT TOGETHER, AND NOW I CAN'T ANYMORE!"

Oh no, did someone lose her volume control?

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto was at least prepared for Excited Usagi, so she doesn't really startle - much - when the door flies open. She just laughs a little and picks up a plate of cookies from her desk to offer them over.

"You'd better tell me all about it, then," she says with a smile. "But maybe sit down first? You don't have to get it out all at once."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
A gasp as a plate of cookies is held up. There's a sweet here, and she's got such news, and she's so excited. She plops down into Adora's desk chair and giggles, taking a cookie and shoving it into her mouth.

"Mamoru and I are going to last forever! We're going to be - okay well there's other important things too but - look I just - where to start?"

There's so much! Makoto already knows about Chibiusa of course, and the enemy, of course, but now -

"I know the future and Mamoru and I are going to have a baby!"

That probably wasn't the best way to start.

Makoto Kino has posed:
It certainly has an effect. Makoto blinks, her expression swiftly shading from slightly indulgent affection into blank surprise. It takes her a good several seconds to form a response.

"...hopefully not any time soon?" she ventures cautiously.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Well - no, not any time soon," Usagi's face is red, as she contemplates this, and what has to happen to have a baby, and that she has proof that it happens - "I can't bare to say it - but I obvivously really want to - oh but it's so embarrassing - but -"

She claps her hands to her face and giggles into her hands and then breathes out.

"Chibiusa-chan is our child from the future, can you believe it, we really had a baby! That means we're going to - you know -"

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto's shoulders immediately drop in relief and she breathes out, her face relaxing back into a smile. "In that case, congratulations. Maybe don't put it that way if you're gonna tell anyone else." There's a teasing note to her words.

Then her eyes are widening again as Usagi puts the two and two together for her and she realizes just what about this has her friend this giddy. "Usagi-chan!" She's blushing now herself, and reaches to snag a cookie and shove it into her mouth while she processes this additional information. NOM.

How does one respond to a friend in this situation? A cake with 'Congrats on the This-and-That' written in frosting seems a bit much. "That is exciting," she says at last, on a laugh. "But - wow, Chibiusa-chan. I guess that explains some things."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Ehehehe, sorry, sorry! I'm just really excited, I mean - about that and about her and - who could believe it! I mean, really, believe it, this is like - who comes from the future, you know? But Chibiusa-chan is in a lot of trouble, so of course if she can she would, and - ahahahaa Makochan!! You can't blame me! I'm a healthy young girl!"

She is a healthy young girl with a handsome fiancé, how can she not giggle over the fact that she's gonna have a baby and sure, it's not soon, but - does that really matter?

"It does, doesn't it? Like why she came out of Mamochan's ceiling!"

Makoto Kino has posed:
"And why you and she rub each other the wrong way so much," Makoto teases. She reaches over and ruffles the top of Usagi's head between her hair buns. "And her name! Gosh."

It's a lot to contemplate. She takes a moment, still a bit floored. Usagi's excitement is infectious, though. "I can see why you're so happy. Way to go, Usagi-chan! Climbing the stairs to adulthood." She gives that one a second before she winks playfully.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"I know! That poor little girl... Mamochan and I totally would name our daughter after me. We'd have done the same to a son."

She can admit. She's thought about it, considered it, and can acknowledge the flaws she and Mamoru have. They are a pretty insufferable couple, at times. This is just a part of that, clearly.

"But yeah, she's such a daddy's girl, that must be why she's always fighting me. Also because she still wants to rob me."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Because Makoto knows both of them well enough by this point, she doesn't make any attempt to refute the point. Instead she looks thoughtful. "Does she know? That you two are her parents, I mean - are going to be her parents?" A beat. "Time travel makes talking about this kind of thing really confusing."

She shakes her head a little, going back to contemplating the question. "I suppose she must, or how would you have found out about it."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"She does. She knew the whole time," and she pouts, a little, rolling her eyes, "That's why she cheated her way into sharing a room with me and Naru-chan. Not just' to rob me, but, mostly to rob me."

She sounds a little fond about it, now, instead of deeply irritated. The power of finding out your relation to someone!

"She's... she's actually here because she wanted my Silver Crystal, to help her parents. These people after her..." Usagi rubs her temples. "Ugh, Makochan, it couldn't just be that I have this wonderful little daughter from the future, could it? Instead, she's here because she's in trouble, because in her future Mamochan and I are king and queen, and they're after her for being ours."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto's demeanor quickly shifts into pure concern. "Poor Chibiusa-chan. No wonder, with all of that on her... Those guys are a lot even for us to deal with, never mind such a little girl."

Usagi will see it on Mako's face when the rest of what she said catches up with her. Pause. Blink. "You're... king and queen? Of what, Japan?" She's trying to process it. She's not succeeding.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"I know! We had to try our best that first time just to get away, and then at the Fire Museum - that's where the fire one caught us, maybe she thought it was funny - I don't even think we actually beat her, it was just - Chibiusa-chan was gone, because Mamochan got her away, so she left once she found out it was 2025, because she thought she was in '94 for some reason-"

Poor Makochan is getting the confusing version of this story.

And then?

"...the whole world," quiet, and much lower in energy, "According to Chbiiusa-chan anyway."

Makoto Kino has posed:
Makoto stares at Usagi, wide-eyed.

Her lips work a few times, like she's trying to say something but can't find any words.

"Usagi-chan," she manages eventually.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi stares back, and the worst part is she's not keeping a straight face, she's keeping a slumped face, and she says - finally - "She's from a - different future. A different Earth. But she's ours. And we can tell. So... you know... I don't know how much of our future is going to be like hers..."

Because of course she wants Chibiusa. She's frustrating and annoying and clever and brave and resourceful and she can be so nice when she's not sniping at Usagi and she wants her.

But does having her come with all the rest? Inquiring minds are terrified to know.

Makoto Kino has posed:
"It's... it's probably best not to think about it too much," Makoto says, hesitantly. "There's no point in getting ourselves confused about things that might not have answers anyway." As she talks, she grows slowly more assured, finding her footing via more or less talking herself into it.

"The important thing is, she's your and Mamoru-san's daughter, and she needs our help."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
This is why she comes to Makoto. She always knows what to say, whether its for a silly time or a serious one, and this - this is exactly what she needs to hear. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right - I mean, it probably won't happen, and her world's different anyway, she says there's just us, and that means she's already in a totally different place, from where we are, right?"

Right!

"Besides, all we really have to worry about is stopping these guys, so Chibiusa-chan - so Chibiusa-chan can go home."

Wobbly lip.

Makoto Kino has posed:
Mako sees that wobbly lip, and she knows exactly what it means. She moves without thought or hesitation to wrap her arms around Usagi and hug her warmly. "It'll be okay," she says, with more conviction than basis. "She's your daughter! Even once she goes home, you'll definitely see her again."

Neither of them has any way to know that, of course. But Makoto says it anyway, as though it were simply truth.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
The hug is accepted immediately, Usagi squeezing tight around Makoto. Of course she's gotten attached! Chibiusa might be a brat and a pest, but she's adorable too, and she was even before she knew the truth. Now that she does? Who cares if she's not old enough or responsible enough to be a mother, she wants to keep her!

"It will be okay. I know you're right, because - because we'll see her again! And she's ours now and she'll be ours in the future."

A few tears escape, but she blinks them back.

"But until then... we'll just all have to do our very best. To make sure she stays safe, and gets home safe."

And then, someday - someday, she'd have her own Chibiusa-chan, who didn't have to go anywhere.
