Date of Scene: 05 July 2025

Synopsis: Mamoru crashes the end of Ami and Usagi's date to see what happens when Amy confesses her love to Usagi over text.
Cast of Characters: Mamoru Chiba, Usagi Tsukino, Ami Mizuno, Amanda Faust

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
It's after school, it's before the dinner rush, and the place is probably as quiet as it ever gets-- Mamoru had told Amy to give them a few hours and he did too, which is why the dinner rush is impending instead of still far off, but it's fine! It's fine, he won't be interrupting kissing in the restauraunt.

He comes in wearing the navy blue yukata with the cats and the pawprint obi, and his tips are no longer pink, they are now red. His glasses are clean, and he waves to whoever's seating people and points to Ami and Usagi's table.

Then he just. Invites himself over.

He at least has the grace to look apologetic.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
It's afternoon but before the dinner rush, and Ami and Usagi have been having a study date for the last couple of hours since school let out, textbooks spread over the tables along with samosas and dips and the evidence that their drinks having already been refilled at least once. They're sitting at a corner table, working on history, and Usagi has been in a state of Suffering.

"Ami-chaaaaaan, can we take a breaaaaaaaaak..." Her head is dropped onto her arms. "We've been doing flash cards foreverrrrrrrrr...."

It's terrible. It's awful. It's the world's worst subject, except for all the other ones! Brushing hands and listening to Ami's voice as she lectureD on history aren't enough, she has to run screaming from the table!

Metaphorically, of course.

Mamoru's arrival is - well, it's not a blessing, because she really does love spending time with Ami, even when studying is involved, but it is a hope spot.

"Mamochan, hi!"

Ami Mizuno has posed:
With an empty plate of tikka masala remains beside her, angled just enough to fit a book or two upon the table, Ami's finger hovered over a line as Mamoru found them and his seat. There was an assortment of study-aids presently strewn about, though there was still evidence of some form of organisation even in that. It was just that final waning of a very solid study-session.

Her other hand was occupied by a half-morsel of sandesh, punctuated by a slow chew that grew more rapid as he sunk into place. It was a rush to swallow it down.

"Alright, alright." Ami conceded with a sigh.

There was new distraction now, there wasn't much else to get done anymore.

"We can take a break." She offered Mamoru a terse smile--it was only very slightly terse, of course, this was Mamoru of course. "Hello Mamoru-kun. We were just battling our way through the clan interpolitics that led to the Sengoku period. How are you?"

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"I am," says Mamoru gravely as he finishes settling into the chair, "full of sparkling rainbows and heartbubbles."

He leans forward to just -- dzzt -- make contact with Usagi, touch her fingertips with his, before he steals a samosa from in front of her and sits back to take a bite.

"I didn't want to interrupt while you were in the thick of it, but someone might text you," he nods to Usagi, "around now and I want to see your reactions in realtime if it happens."

Chew chew chew.

"And I want to casually talk about our polycule a little in small groups and not make it a big deal, and I'm not sure that's a relief from studying."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"There are too many clans," Usagi groans into her arms, voice muffled. "And so many politics. And so many fighters. And it all makes sense, but then I have to remember the battles and the politics -"

The interpersonal relationships she can understand perfectly - it's just a more high stakes and dramatic version of high school. It's all the other details that want to slip and slide out of her grasp, though she's starting to understand better, after two hours of having it hammered into her skull.

She might have continued to complain, but then there's a bolt of hearts and rainbows and marriage marriage marriage she's married they did it that's her HUSBAND - and she giggles cheerfully, not even minding the theft of her samosa.

"Eh? Wait, someone's going to text me? And you want to see? But why -" and with perfect timing, her phone starts to ding, ding, ding.

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: So hey um... can we talk? That sounds really ominous but it's not a bad thing I just wonder when is a good time to meet.
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: *When might be a good time to meet
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: I really should have just texted that instead. :confused emoji:

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: hey amy-chan!!! i think mamochan just told me to expect you
<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: sure! i can meet up with you sometime - i'm still out with ami-chan and mamochan right now though

"Amy-chan... huh. Okay, not my first guess... but... wait... you want to talk about our polycule?" The first thought that comes to mind is one instantly rejected. "I am not giving my approval for you to date Amy-chan, even if it's just for an experiment!"

Wrong conclusion, jumped to. Her fingers start flying over her phone.

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: BUT IF IT'S ABOUT DATING MAMOCHAN, YOU CAN'T, I KNOW HE'S DREAMY BUT

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami continues to watch Mamoru for the longest time. Long enough even to take another bite of sandesh, chew it slowly, and swallow it away. Eventually, she gestures toward him with the half--well, now-mostly--eaten confection.

"That sounds very ominous, Mamoru-kun." The senshi nodded slowly, then her brows lifted.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru's mouth works.

He finishes the samosa.

He glances toward Ami, eyes sparkling, and shakes his head minutely.

"Usako, that's not it. You know I'm legitimately not interested in any other girls, even as an experiment, unless Kazuo happened to borrow the disguise pen," he says reasonably, then goes for Usagi's lassi. "I'm sure we'll get the full scoop soon enough. I'm sorry I'm like this, Ami-chan."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
While Mamoru is finishing his samosa, Usagi is texting up a storm, her nails click-clacking as she texts rapidly, her phone steadily dinging as new texts come in.<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: WHAT NO
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: Sorry I was pulled away for a few mins
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: DID NOT MEAN TO LEAVE YOU ON READ ON THAT
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: It's not about dating Mamoru, no. Is that actually a thing that happens? Do people keep asking you if they can date him?
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: ...That must be a lot of texts.

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: no! it's never actually happened, but he does get love letters on occasion. not that he receives them. i burn them
<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: but mamochan said he wanted to talk about our polycule and then you texted about wanting to talk SO MAYBE I JUMPED TO CONCLUSIONS
<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: BUT! no one could blame me

"Mamochan! Oh my gosh, you couldn't have warned me, or prepped in a better way, or, or something! Just because you aren't interested in other girls doesn't mean other girls can't be interested in you! Oh my gosh!"

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: Uh
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: Well uh. You were only half-wrong?

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: half wrong how

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: I would rather have talked in person but I've been wondering what the polycule rules were for awhile. Awhile back Yaling thought I had a crush on you and I didn't think so but I was meaning to ask but then crystal tokyo happened and then you were evil
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: And then you were married
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: (... Amy is typing ... for minutes)
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: So apparently I have a crush on you maybe and I'm flubbing this but we're here now and I don't know what to do but say it.
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: I'm sorry I'm so bad at this

"Ami-chan, my husband is the biggest troll alive oh my gosh he should be sorry!!!"

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: oh my gosh he's the WORST he could have WARNED ME aaaaaaa amy-chan i'm so sorry!!!! oh my gosh what a bad confession i made you have!!! aaaa this is not a way that's supposed to happen!!!
<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: you're not bad at this, my husbamd is the goofiest goober who ever lived and i'm insanely jealous over him. oh my gosh! you have a crush on me! awww that's sweet! and not that surprising in hindsight.

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: He told me he was keeping it a secret and it felt weird to have him tell you first
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: You didn't make me anything! Things happened
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: 'this is not the way that's supposed to happen!!!' describes a lot of our livers actually

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: well i really like you as a friend, and i think i will have to talk to my girlfriend about this, but, thank you for telling me!! <3<3<3 i will get back to you as soon as possible

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: Wait not surprising? What gave it... No you are with Mamoru and Mizuno-san now I shouldn't be pulling you away for long explanations
<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: Thank you it means a lot to me to be your friend and I don't want that to change. Mamoru said this wouldn't change that and I trust him and I trust you.

<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: and it totally makes sense for him to let you tell me but then he shouldn't have said he wanted to see my reaction when i got a text and then folloed that up with wanting to discuss our polycule oh my gosh i'm going to throw napkins at him
<PHONE> You text Amy Faust: of course it won't change our friendship! you're my friend! okay, so you have a crush on me, why would that change anything on my end? even if we crash out spectacularly you'll always be my friend

She throws a wadded up napkin at him. It's clean, at least.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Ami, only having the bare minimum of context, glanced between the two at a mild loss. Eventually, she just shrugged and took up another sandesh which was offered to Usagi.

She had plenty of sandesh. Today was share day.

"I'm not going to disagree about the magnitude of his troll-ness." Ami agreed with a smile. "He's probably like this to keep you guessing, though. It's almost romantic."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru lets the napkin hit him in the face as his just desserts, then catches it as it falls, putting it on the table. He continues to drink Usagi's lassi, placidly enjoying it while Usagi tappita tappita, and then he twinkles at Ami again. "I'm like this because I have to piss her off sometimes-- no, it's because it's funny and I didn't think it would hurt anyone. I told her she should confess and then figured she'd do it by text and I wanted the warm fuzzies of seeing it. I shouldn't have said anything, though, that was my downfall."

He reaches for a sandesh himself, telegraphing the motion in case Ami wants to slap his hand away, and says, "Izou-kun is officially very super-duper With Kazuo, so in case there ends up being scheduling necessities that overlap with you... I wanted to know what you wanted, maybe you want scheduling anyway? Or not! Maybe it's the worst thing. Or maybe it's not important yet. But also, I am sorry for interrupting you, I normally shouldn't."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Mamoru takes the crumpled napkin to the face, which, he should, and Usagi nomfs the sandesh that Ami offers, favoring her girlfriend for the moment in comparison to her husband.

"It's a terrible way of showing how much he loves me," Usagi pouts, not meaning it at all, and she glances down at the latest text, smiling, before bobbling her head back up.

<PHONE> A text from Amy Faust: I don't know. I mean, people tell stories like it's a thing that happens, friends try a relationship and it ruins the friendship somehow? I think there's a song about it. But none of us are all that typical suppose, or your husband wouldn't have suggested I confess to you.

"They weren't already very super-duper with each other? I mean, I guess, with the whole bow thing, I thought they'd figured that out already..." She hums a little, then puts her phone own and away.

"Amy-chan has a crush on me. That's what Mamochan wanted to see my reaction too. We already talked about Adora-chan, but... I think figuring out if we like schedules and all that is a good idea. And knowing how you'd feel about that?"

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Though she didn't slap at his hand, her eyes certainly narrowed at the hand as it approached. It was the sort of thing that suggest an if it was anybody else kind of threat. Then she brightened again and her attention was diverted to Usagi.

"Oh?" She paused for a moment, let her gaze draw toward the ceiling, and then over to Mamoru. "You're right, you set out your own pitfall there and then walked straight into it."

A grin took the corner of her mouth, though, and Ami's hand sought more sandesh idly. It was a thing, though. Food often had a way of dematerialising around her--nose in book, handle idle and mouth idle, what else was she supposed to do? It wasn't her fault these treats were so delicious.

There were more important considerations than sweets just now.

"I don't know." Ami replied honestly with a shrug. "It's not like i've ever really had to think about these things all that much before."

She chewed idly.

"Usagi-chan seeing other people isn't exactly something that bothers me, either. I know she's always going to be there and that's pretty much that only part that matters to me." Her head tipped a little to the other side, as though the physical shift would help move into another perspective. "I can see how a schedule might help people to manage things, though."

She hummed, thoughtful.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"The whole bow thing was before they had their stuff figured out. It precipitated it," Mamoru says with a lopsided shrug after swallowing the last of his sandesh. He props his elbow on the table and his chin on his hand, regarding the two girls and smiling as he listens.

"Okay, so, open to scheduling, but not necessary yet probably. And Ami-chan! It's important to know that you can object, or even just can object to someone specific."

He starts eating their leftovers in earnest.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"Well, I knew they weren't together together when the bow happened, but I kinda thought it made everything obvious and then they got together? Maybe I overestimated them."

It definitely sounds like she overestimated them, but instead of carrying on, she takes a samosa, devours half of it in one bite, and then steals back her lassi to chase it down.

"I have to think about if I want to date Amy-chan. I like her as a friend, but I've never thought about her as a girlfriend, so, you know, gotta contemplate the switch. I wouldn't want to play with her heart!"

No, she thinks Amy-chan will be especially vulnerable, and their friendship is valuable. She has to think on this with all the care Ami and Mamoru wished she would give her homework.

"But it's good to know scheduling is an option instead of a need! And... of course, I'll always be there, Ami-chan, you couldn't pry me off with a crowbar!"

Ami Mizuno has posed:
Outside of the stresses of study and homework, Ami was almost always entirely made of smiles for Usagi. She leaned a little closer just to rest a head against the blonde's shoulder for a moment or two.

"I know." It came, breathed clear. "This is the same as Adora-chan, though. At least as far as I can see and anything you decide there has nothing to do with you and me. That's a you and them thing."

She shrugged.

"It is good to have that as a confirmation though, Mamoru-kun. Thank you." A pause, a hum, and then she turned her gaze to Mamoru properly. "There was something else I wanted to ask you at some point."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"No no, they were together before now, it's just that... I guess I'm really feeling it sometimes," Mamoru laughs awkwardly-- and then he catches a gutter of a stray and slouches into his seat, hand coming up to adjust his glasses. "Mmm. You're very considerate, Usako," he says to 'wouldn't want to play with her heart', and it's heartfelt, but it's after a second of checking to make sure his life's blood isn't currently soaking the floor.

Then his eyebrows go up and he smiles at Ami. "You're welcome," he says warmly, and, "Oh what was it?"

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi realizes belatedly that her words could be a knife thrown Mamoru's way and offers an apologetic smile and brush of her hand against his, letting him feel her sincere whoops sorry if that cut deep!

And she smiles adoringly at Ami, and then scrunches her nose, "Oh man, I might need a schedule if I have to work around four people... man, that's going to make dating into homework... but what did you want to ask Mamochan? I'm curious too!"

Ami Mizuno has posed:
"And, as I've already said, so long as the volume of dates don't get in the way of your homework." Ami was very quick to throw that in aside.

Because it was important to her to see Usagi succeed. The blonde didn't have to do particularly well, but passing high school was definitely not nothing and, if there was any way she could help it, Ami would ensure it.

She closed her eyes briefly and cleared her throat.

"Anyway. I love my mom." Ami prefaced, returning her attention to Mamoru. "But, I've been thinking recently, that it can get a little bit lonely at home sometimes. I was wondering if you would have an apartment that's a little closer to--well--everyone?"

Ami's gaze wavered a little until they'd settled on the still-open book in front of her. "That I might be able to rent from you, that is. Maybe."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Just a touch from his wife, just a brush of the fingers, is enough to set off another rocketship's worth of rainbow sparklehearts all over Mamoru's mind, and he just loves at Usagi until the contact breaks.

The contact breaks on a recordscratch as Ami's words continue.

Mamoru's eyes are a little bit wide. "Well, I-- of course, but... why not live on campus with Usa? Or is it better if you have separate spaces bigger than a dorm room?" he asks as if that's not potentially a whole other different can of worms.

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"I knowwwwww... dates can't get in the way of homework, because my Ami-chan and my Mamochan want me to pass my classessssssss..."

Woe is her, to have two loving partners who want her to succeed academically. What a world!

Still - she's not ready for the request, and her eyes pop open wide with surprise, looking from Ami to Mamoru and back. It's true, the apartment building has plenty of empty spaces, Mamoru hasn't exactly been hurrying on to get more, but...

"Um! Not that I wouldn't love to live with you Ami-chan, but I don't think we'd make good roommates - oh I guess you could have a different dorm, but -" she's waving her hands a little, horrified at the thought of rooming with Ami, who she loves, but who would also catch her every time she put off homework for gaming and manga and probably not be pleased with all her general messiness, either.

Ami Mizuno has posed:
There was agreement from Ami, gaze drifting from Usagi and back to Mamoru fairly quickly. Not without a fairly wide smile at the blonde before she moved on, though.

"There's other reasons, too, Mamoru-kun." She chewed at the corner of her lip for a moment, but shrugged. "But, Usagi-chan is right. I'm pretty certain she and I would drive one another right up the walls. You'd have to get us down with brooms or something."

Fortunately for Mamoru, though, she had a fairly faint smile for him, too. "Living with Usagi-chan is something that you will get the unique, and very special, pleasure of experiencing."

At the very least, and with the New Moon business in the rearview mirror, Mamoru had the practice for it.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Mamoru's hand comes up to cover his mouth and his eyes crinkle at the corners. This has started being funny again. He gets himself under control. "I see," he says to Usagi, nodding his acknowledgement and sitting more normally for now.

"An experience for the brave and the bold. Don't worry, I don't make my bed," he tells Ami gravely. But then he continues, less grave but still serious, "Then of course, you're welcome to. They're pay what you want, basically, including nothing if you can't do utilities and maintenance. Kazuo's mother Saitou Saori-san lives there, and there are a few other people I'll tell you about once I figure out their status. Kazuo handles the building's security from a rig he built in his space... I'm sure he'd be more than happy to conspire with you."

Usagi Tsukino has posed:
"The secret of Mamochan and I's bedroom will have to be just for us... and sometimes Chibiusa-chan, I guess, but she always likes her own bed anyway -"

Chibiusa-chan is much bigger now... and she's still not sure how to feel about it, aside from proud and happy for her, even if she's not all little and snappy-cute-baby anymore...

"But! I think you having your own place will be fun! You'll get to decorate it however you want - or I'll get to help your decorate it, however you want!" *w*

She tips her head, imagining the trips for shopping and picking out furniture and decorations and little items and oh, oh!

"Makochan is always cooking in Mamochan and Masato-kun's kitchens, but I bet she'd cook in yours too!"

Ami Mizuno has posed:
"Masa-nii and Mako-chan have both mentioned Kazuo-kun keeping an eye on things before, so that did also factor into my reasoning." Ami confirmed for Mamoru. "Frankly, you trust him quite a lot and if there's any place for some of my things to be kept--well, I'm pretty positive Kazuo-kun won't let anything happen to them."

Things, in this context, mostly being the Mercury Computer. Ami tended to keep it with her wherever possible, but even that came with inherent risks. That one device falling into enemy hands was a troubling gap in her own security planning that needed closing.

Ami smiled still, broad and bright and warm. For Mamoru, for Usagi. Simply for the presence of family that grew and loomed ever larger in her life.

"I don't think I could decorate a space without your creative input, Usagi-chan. That would be an absolute waste of your talents." And, of course, she was sincere even if she didn't immediately follow it up with daylight dreams of shopping sprees.

Immediately. They came along pretty soon afterwards. Shopping with Usagi was always a delight, too.
