Cast of Characters: Hinoiri Kirara, Double Trouble

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara was sitting on their couch, hugging one of Dianora's stuffed rainbow unicorns to her chest, with the TV on. She was watching one of Dee's daytime soaps. And had a box of chocolates by her, which she kept picking at.

And she was crying. Oh. Oh this was NOT a good sign. This was like... possibly the worst sign. Hinoiri NEVER watched Dee's soaps. Well, not without Dee. And she was crying. And frankly, the chocolates just sealed the deal.

Well, she was wearing her geode, wasn't covered in blood and there were no bodies. So... that was a positive, right?

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble had been busy. Or rather, Horde Prime had been busy. Once they got the bots to Obsidian tower, their performance was locked in. They were committed. They were Him. They were immediately in meetings. There had been texts, but they had been sparse. This was the first time they'd come home since Hinoiri had left them at the Door with the last cohort of bots and returned the handcart to get her ID back.

Dianora stepped through the door, letting it shut behind her as she dropped her cute pink backpack and dashed across the room to leap up right next to Hinoiri, on the side where the chocolates weren't, draping her arms around shoulders for a hug. "Onee-chan, I'm so sorry I was gone so long. Don't be sad. I'm back now!"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara glanced overat Dianora when she got back, giving her a feeble, weak smile. She leaned into the girl. "I-it's... it's just so sad. R-Rogellio a-and Fiona h-had a b-big fight a-and now they hate each, each other b-but Rogellio d-d-doesn't realize t-that Fiona is a-actually R-Rolia w-who he fell in l-love with a-and Fiona d-doesn't realize he was the h-horse rider who, who s-saved her from the lake a-and now they'll n-never r-realize a-and they'll hate each other forever a-a-and they'll never have their d-d-d-dreamsssss!" she whined, sobbing onto Dianora.

Welp, something was certainly up. "O-oh... and... and Utau s-stole m-my heart... heart egg... and... and helped me realize... h-how impossible... it is. I-I'm... I'm not really c-cut out to be a h-hero... I-I'm a monster.... B-born one... a-and I'll live as one f-f-forever..."

"... But the R-Rogellio a-and Fiona t-thing is m-much worse..."

Double Trouble has posed:
Most people would be relieved to discover that they had not been responsible for making their girlfriend cry, but not Double Trouble. No, they were actually just a little upset she was not crying about them. But they were a skilled thespian and stayed in character.

"Onee-chan, do you really thing that Rogellio and Rolia can stay apart? They were so clearly meant to be together," Dianora soothes squeezing Hinoiri's shoulders in a hug as she melts into Double Trouble. She hadn't been wearing her necklace. Their tail flicks over and curls around one of the chocolates, bringing it over to their waiting mouth. Omnom. With a mouth full of chocolate they say, "You've got to have faith."

Then their tail wrapped around her and gave a squeeze. "Utau is wrong, and you're only thinking those things because she stole your ability not to," they said, quite matter-of-factly. "You know how Easter operates, Hinoiri." Squeezing her tightly in a hug again. And they murmur in her ear. "But so what if you're a monster? You're my monster."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara sobbed and gave a small nod. "I-I know b-but t-the ratings a-are too good, t-the writers w-will never, never l-let them a-actually g-get together b-because then the s-story will be over a-and the two are d-doomed to, to forever b-be hunting each other because i-it makes for good t-television t-to have them keep h-hunting each other and and so they're trapped in an endless cycle of l-loving but n-never having what they waaaaaaant..." Hinoiri wailed, sobbing on her theyfu, a few tears trickling down her cheeks as she rested her head on the reptile's shoulder... and got a little meta, to be honest.

"A-and it's... it's what I was a-already k-kind of feeling, though. I want to be g-good. I-I want to help people... d-do something positive for once. B-but I just keep b-bucking it up. I-I mean... W-what I did to La Crima is, is u-unforgiveable. W-who does that? W-who sees someone s-suffering like that, s-sees how much p-pain t-they're in? And then d-decides to t-take their one good t-thing away because, because of a little k-kidnapping a-and unveiling of their i-identity?"

"T-that's what I a-always do. I-I try to do r-right... t-then I get mad, or angry, o-or scared and then... then I just r-ruin everything. I-I don't know how I haven't r-ruined you yet... H-how can someone like y-you still love a mess like, like m-me? I-I'm not even good at b-being a monster, I-I failed at t-that too!"

Double Trouble has posed:
"Darling, that's a rerun," Double Trouble said, plainly. "They figure it all out at the beginning of the next season. The drama shifts to a new couple and they get their happy ever after." For like two episodes, but that was not helpful to tell her right then.

Instead they started combing their fingers through her hair. "I know this is a somewhat foreign concept to you, being as brilliant as you are, darling," Double Trouble said, "But you have to practice something to get good at it, and part of practicing is making mistakes. You weren't good at being evil because your heart wasn't in it. You're not good at being good because you need practice." Beat. "And we need to get your heart egg back from Easter."

Squeezing her tight in another tail-hug, pressing their cheek to hers, they said, "And whatever it is you did to La Crima, I am sure it was forgivable."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara sniffled and looked up at them. "R-really?" she asked. And oh, that was so much better. "O-oh. I guess... they m-must have g-gotten over t-that, then. T-that's nice to know it a-all works out in the e-end..."

Even if not permanently.

Hinoiri nodded, laying her head on Double Trouble's shoulder and closing her eyes. "I.. I hope so... I just... I want to be good... how am I supposed to help when... when I don't even have magic? I can't just... like... do... things... like... I-I guess... I guess I d-did cut down on my.... my towers. M-maybe that's it. I can m-make magic gadgets a-and things and... and l-like... light towers. H-how hard could it be?"

Far, far too hard for her.

"Or... or... I need a mascot... a-and a sword... and... and a stick. A mascot s-sword stick. S-something I can look to for advice... Like S-Sayaka... o-or Rashmi... if... if I was magic t-they'd give me the best a-advice..." she whispered, closing her eyes.

"You'll... you'll always love me, no matter how good or b-bad I am, right?"

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble just pulled Hinoiri fully up onto their lap and into a tight hug. They were quite strong. She was not even a heavy lift for them. Especially not with their tail involved. "You know my job with HR is to try and keep villains on the path of evil, and I just never have been able to do that with you, darling. You're so obviously a good person. You're happier being good. It's what you want. It's who you are. You just need to practice it."

They take a deep breath and then press their lips to the top of her head. "You've got it all wrong though. Being a hero isn't about having magical powers, it's about fighting for what's good and just. You just show up to that fight with the tools you have. Plenty of things a non-magical girl can do to fight for what's good and just, my love."

Leaning back against the couch they start to pet Hinoiri's hair. "You're brilliant. You don't need magic to be smart. You just need friends to work with. Find a role in a team. Isn't that what Agera's always complaining about?"

Then they grin. "Besides, you clearly have magic. You haven't forgotten about all this yet."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave a small nod, relaxing into her theyfriend's arms. It was... nice. To just be held. Pampered. Told they WERE capable of good. After telling themselves and, in some ways, being told they couldn't be. She gave a small smile and a gentle, content sigh.

"You're right..." she whispered. "I just... I need to... learn that. Accept that."

"Even if I can't be a hero, I can... do good... I'm so much smarter than most of the people here." Also, a bit over inflated in the ego department sometimes.

"... If I ever do forget, though? That's... going to be weird... no matter what I forget, one day? Don't let me forget you. Even if you have to like, slap me with your tail or... even kidnap me. Don't let me forget you..."

"... And maybe... being good... should start with being good to my theyfriend. Tell me about your plans? And your operation as 'Horde Prime'? Is it going well? are you having fun? Spare no details, I want to know everything my creative little theyfriend is planning."

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble held Hinoiri close, petting her hair gently. "It's not easy," they say. "But you'll get there. You've got good friends." They take a deep breath and let out a long sigh as they just relax and let her melt into them.

The Fade was something they tried not to think about too much. The weird magic that brought them here made them young enough for it not to matter. Not yet. And it wouldn't matter for them anyway because dark energy users didn't forget magic. Their only path to magic on this forsaken rock was dark energy, and so they knew they wouldn't lose it. But if they did? What then? Their natural form is so alien. Just another reason why they were stuck at Obsidian.

"I won't ever let you forget me, darling," they murmur, continuing to pet her hair. "You'll always be mine."

They let that sit for a few heartbeats and then go on. "It's been a lot of meetings. Obsidian puts the evil in everything and that includes bureaucracy. Opening up a new division is a lot of work."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave a light nod, smiling. "Good. Never let me go. I'll... always be yours..." In some ways, that really was what she wanted. To belong. To be wanted. she'd wanted to be Sora's. Now? She'd just be Double Troubles. It was what she wanted...

She still had a long way to go. But, in some ways, this was at least healthier. At least they both understood what was wanted and could protect each other. Somewhat. She closed her eyes.

"If you need any help with the paperwork, let me know. I am pretty good at beaurocracy. Most of it is stupid, but well... when you have to pay attention to all the rules, you start to learn how to use them as a weapon. Ironically, I never tried to make my own division since, well... it was so much paperwork and it wasn't like anyone worked for me. Much easier to work a bunch of different people and manipulate them to my own goals."

"... I don't think that method would work here, obviously. Other than the robots, will anything be working for you? You'll likely need some lackeys."

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble wanted to lay everything out for their girlfriend. They knew they could trust her to keep her mouth shut. But this mission was too important to put that trust to the test. Still, Hinoiri was already in this whether they liked it or not. She knew Horde Prime was them. She knew what was going on.

They chuckled. "No, darling, unfortunately I have to do all the paperwork. I can't have this come back to you any more than it already might," they said, amusement in their voice. "But I appreciate the offer. No, I want you to put Obsidian behind you. Leave them to me."

With the squeeze of another hug they kissed the top of her head again. "But if I know my girl Catra, she'll fall right in line when she meets Him. She certainly did the last time around."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara blinked a few times ebfore giving a light groan. "Ohhhh... involving Catra. I'd be careful with that. She's already on the edge as it is. I know she's going through some issues of her own, apparently someone's making her gather energy and threatened Rashmi over it? I'm not sure of all the details, but well..."

Hinoiri always seemed to have some knowledge on the local gossip, at least. "Just... be careful with that. Catra's a little unstable as it is, especially since Adora's whole... time... thingy... portals... she did. You know? And it wouldn't be hard to push her over the edge." Pause. "And I kind of like her, so I'd appreciate if you didn't send her off it." Awwwww. Such a needy girlfriend. Needs Double Trouble to not destroy the lives of the people she cares about. "... Although, ummmm..." She glanced around. "If you're looking to prepare for this... well... his arrival... she might be a good choice. Her heart isn't really in it, either, she--"

Pause.

Blink. Blink.

"Waaaaaait a second. Did you have this talk with her at some point, too? 'Not good at being evil because your heart wasn't in it'. I just used your words! Are you playing me?" she asked, puffing out her cheeks and looking a tiny bit annoyed... a tiny bit amused. "I hope this isn't something that means I'm just predictable to you," she asked, before grinning. "No, no... I guess I'm never really predictable, am I?"

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble laughed. "If I did, do you think it would have gotten through her thick skull?" They shook their head. "No, but you're right. Her heart isn't in it either. But more importantly she's Etherian, and I know how her brain works. I've been her," they say. "Just give her a little scrap of authority and she'll do everything I want."

That did not sound very much like a person who was being considerate of their girlfriend's wishes regarding how to treat her friends. "And besides, if I get her transferred to my division, she can be going out with Horde bots, or whatever we come up with to replace them, instead of going out harvesting dark energy for whomever she's reporting to now. That'll be good for her."

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave a small nod, relaxing a little bit. "Yeah... that little slice of home might really do her some good," she mumbled.

Oh, it probably wouldn't, but wellllll... that was half the fun, right? And it wasn't like she'd been so good with her plans, so what right did she have to comment on any of Dee's?

However, there was still one more thing she could do. She wiped her eyes a little and looked up at them. "Do... do you wanna have a date night? Maybe go see a movie or... or something? I... I think I still really need a pick-me-up..." she mumbled.

Even though her theyfriend had, literally, picked her up.

Double Trouble has posed:
Double Trouble slid their hands to hold Hinoiri's head to their chest and let out a pleased sound along with a sigh. As the air left their body it shifted. It must be weird having that happen right around the face. But it also probably wasn't the first time for Hinoiri.

Shiori gave Hinoiri a kiss on the top of her head. "Yeah! There's this new horror flick out I want to see, or there's a romcom. What are you in the mood for?"

Hinoiri Kirara has posed:
Hinoiri Kirara gave a light snicker. It was strange, admittedly, having their girlfriend literally change under them. Feeling the shifting of scales to softer flesh, the warmth, even the thin little hairs. And the clothes, too. It was all strange... and oddly fun. It was MAGIC. Just pure, unadulterated, unstoppable... magic. There was no denying it.

"You know what? I'm thinking horror today. Something where we can just... hold each other's arms, nestle close and just... lose ourselves in the worst things that aren't real," she mumbled, giving a tiny little grin.

She was, almost, happy even. And it was... nice. Relaxing. That's what her theyfriend was. A wonderful, safe, happy place. At times like this, she needed it more than ever. Even as she began to, slowly, crawl away.

So what if her dream was impossible. At least she wasn't alone...
