"-is that?" "I don't know, I've never seen her before. But she kind of looks like- ...Senkenzan? But Senkenzan uses a cane-"
"-so pretty, who is that?" "Wait, is that Senkenzan? She's walking like she owns the place, that confidence isn't like-"
"-comes Senkenzan, we can ask her about the... assign..." "...dude, since when does Senkenzan look like that?"
"-has to be Senkenzan, she's sitting down in her seat!" "Did she get some kind of surgery? She looks so much healthier!" "Maybe we should invite her to sit with us at lunch-"
Kureha's fingers curl faintly against her sides, brow furrowing beneath her bangs. A battery of medical tests, overnight observation, puzzled doctor after puzzled doctor, and of all things, her father suddenly fawning over, suddenly worried about her and pleased with this 'medical miracle' that has 'given him back his daughter'. And she comes back to school to find whole crowds of people that are suddenly interested in her. Suddenly fascinated. Suddenly all eyes are on her, instead of averting as if she's something they don't want to think about. They're just as bad as her father, every one. 'I bet I get three different requests to join some club or other by the time lunch is over,' she muses bitterly. 'Now that I'm actually useful.'
Of course, she's wrong about that. It ends up being five.
As Kureha settles back in her seat, her thoughts flash back to the girl at the museum. 'If it happens again near you, you're probably going to have help whether you ask for it or not. It's just... what we do.' She snorts quietly. That's great, until the bill for that help comes due. She knows this dance all too well. It's only about how useful she can be to those... weirdos, or whatever they were. Whether they can get her on their side. "I get enough of that dance with my family. I can handle this on my own."
