Sunbreaker held up her prized MP3 player and went through the songs, shuffling until she found the right one… a moment later? Ring of Fire started. “Oh, that’ll do.”
“Revenge is a burning thing,” she sang along, fire erupting from her hands as she gathered up her materials. Walls of dark energy formed around her, cutting her little room of the Dusk Zone off from everything else. This had to be done juuuuuuust right. “And it makes a fiery ring.”
See? Some music in this world was great. She held out her hand, small gemstones of energy gathering together. Then she added the coal, tossing a big bag of it onto the small table she’d brought with her. It likely wouldn’t last long once she left, but that didn’t matter. She gathered all of the materials up in her magic, before they began to swirl around in a tight, arcane circle.
“I fell into a burning ring of fire,” Sunbreaker sang moments before the ring of materials burst into flames themselves, the heat radiating off them turning the small room into a sweltering sauna. “I went down, down, down and the flames went higher!”
The burning, swirling circle of carbon and magic glowed red hot now, but then she took out one last piece. A small, plastic container… housing two pieces of a long dead rose. Well, the remains. Maybe there was a hint of a dark general’s magic in it, she didn’t know.
She telekinetically gathered up the remains and broke it into many small, tiny chunks, then they flew out onto the table. Already the legs of the table were starting to darken.
“The taste of revenge is sweet,” Sunbreaker sang, breaking the ring of fire into many, many small pieces with her magic. Each pieces gathering a small chunk of the remains of the rose, swirling into dozens of little rings of fire. “When hearts like ours meet.”
She pulled out her cell phone once more, wrapped in the same spell her MP3 player was to make sure the heat didn’t damage it. ‘Won’t you help me?’ a specific dark general’s voice asked.
“Oh, but the fire went wild,” Sunbreaker sang, the swirling rings now white hot. A moment later, they came to a stop. Her magic shaping the first… then the second. Glancing towards the video to make sure they were juuuuuust right.
“And it burns, burns burns,” Sunbreaker sang while she worked. The song looping over and over as she worked. She was a perfectionist, after all. It had to be perfect. Perfect clarity. Perfect shape. Glimmer with just that tiiiiiiiny hint of magic that you can feel if you hold it. Juuuuuust enough to almost make it seem real.
Then, finally, her work was done. She collapsed back, a seat of dark energy forming under her while she panted. Sweat dripped off her brow and the music stopped. The table was now almost completely covered in dark energy, but it didn’t matter now. She pressed play on the video once more. ‘This is the Phantom Silver Crystal, and I've been looking everywhere for it. If you think you might have found the real thing, please like, comment, and share below!’
Dozens of nearly perfect ‘Phantom Silver Crystals’ now hovered in the air. One by one, they disappeared, appearing in gem stores, old pawn shops and all manner of different collections across tokyo.
“There,” Sunbreaker said with a wicked smirk, before wiping the sweat off her brow. “Here’s your miracle.” Each and every one with a tiny, barely noticeable trace of the remains of the rose he’d pierced her hand with. Would they be able to tell? Probably not. But she’d know. She didn’t know what this gem was or why it mattered… but now he’d have more than he knew what to do with. “Now, Hematite, we’re even.”
… Oh gosh she was so tired. Pettiness may have been important to do right, but sometimes it was almost too much. Once all of the gems disappeared, she followed suit… the ‘room’ she’d been using finally collapsing a moment later, retaken by the dusk zone.
